Re: News & Notes
Hell of a way to start this new chapter off. As expect, UMASS was no match for Iowa. Nigel Atkinson put himself on the map right away with that performance. It'll be interesting to see if he can keep up that type of production as the competition level increases.
On another note - love the layout switch with the new team. Newspaper style, not that is some dynasty reporting originality. You never stop with the innovations. Great stuff man!Click here to read my dynasty report:

Around the NCAA: Week 4
Lawson sets two records on the same day
Eric Lawson already owned the single game records for passing touchdowns in a
game (8) and passing touchdowns in a season (34). It was still surprising, however,
when he managed to break the team record for passing touchdowns in a career and
passing yards in a career in the same game. Lawson now has 11,128 passing yards
with the record gained on an indistinct screen pass for five yards. His final pass of
the game gave him 93 touchdowns for his career and the Idaho record in that
category as well. Lawson passed John Friesz for both records.
The only two records Lawson does not own are for passing yards in a game (637)
and passing yards in a season. The latter is a good bet to go down this year if
Lawsons stays healthy, but the latter is less likely to happen. Idaho would have to
be engaged in a major shootout for that to be possible.
Speaking of a game - there wasn't much of one this week as the Vandals pounded
Air Force, 49-7. Air Force simply could not get anything going on offense. They had
five first downs the entire game, including none in the first half. They managed 119
yards total offense in a loss that is difficult even for a lower tier team like Air Force.Comment

Around the NCAA: Week 5
Georgia beats #20 Kentucky, 2-1 and ranked #8 as Iowa comes to town
Senior QB Carlos Boone threw for 150 yards and ran for another 122 yards while
totaling four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a close win on the road against a
ranked Kentucky squad. UGA is at full strength as the Hawkeyes make their way
down south for their week 5 showdown in Athens.

Solid 2-0 for coach Clark and the gang. Going to be a real test to see how you guys handle a tough road game in Athens. Love the weekly recap bro, I think I might have to do something similar in my Hawaii dynasty. I love the detail you use to recap what's going on around the conference.Comment

QB Darrell White suffers season ending knee injury; Eddie Allen activated
The Hawkeyes had a starter, a backup, and two redshirts at the quarterback
position. That changed when backup White went down with a knee injury in practice
this week. The injury is serious and White will miss the remainder of the season.
Rather than going into the game with only one eligible QB suited up, Clark has taken
the redshirt off freshman Eddie Allen, a talented athlete turned QB. This is an
interesting scenario because starter Masin Barnes will have to continue to play quite
well, now that a player deemed better all-around - according to some of the
coaches - is right on his heels.
Two other players were hurt and will miss this week's game, bringing the total injury
list to four players hurt going into the UGA game.

This is pretty wow to me. I've always been a big lurker of other dynasties but for some reason never started this one until the other day. Read through the whole thing from Wednesday until now. Love it. Appreciate your transparency. My Newport Falcons Football Dynasty (Teambuilder) (CFB25)

2018 Week 5: at Georgia Bulldogs
Thanks so much Bigsheen. It's humbling that anyone would take their time to look over something like this and very much appreciated. Take it easy man.Comment

Around the NCAA - Week 6
Top teams are losing right and left
The top 10 is littered with two loss teams just a few weeks into the season as it
appearse the pollsters need to see more to move these teams down. Teams that
play in less prestigious conferences or lost to lesser ranked teams are feeling the
pain. #7 USC stunned by Cal in overtime and fell to #19. Certainly, Georgia's loss at
home to Iowa was as surprising as any game on the slate.

Week 6 pregame report
Notes by Rudy Weiland, Cedar Rapids Gazette
Rooney's Hamstring injury serious - Out for the year
Starting outside linebacker Josh Rooney suffered a torn hamstring during the last
game and will have to miss the rest of the season. The Hawkeyes have some
depth at linebacker but it is now being tested, with Michael Tyson already on the
shelf with badly sprained high ankle. The good news for the Hawkeyes is that
Tyson has been working very hard and is on pace to return sooner than initially
anticipated. It was thought he would not return until Week 9, but may be able to
return by next week. However, for this week the team will be extremely thin at
linebacker.
Senior Jonathan Johnson will step into the role at outside linebacker that was
occupied by Rooney. Clayton Kemp is already filling in for Tyson. Redshirt freshman
D.J. Shroeder backs both of them up.
Anderson expected to be out five weeks
Starting LE Terry Anderson suffered a broken collarbone while making a tackle in the
end zone against Georgia. He is expected to miss the next five weeks as the break
is relatively small, and expected to heal quickly.

J.D. Clark's son Dane being recruited by Idaho, Boise State
When his dad moved to Iowa to coach the Hawkeyes, Dane Clark had a difficult
decision to make. Transfer to a local high school in Iowa and compete for playing
time with a group of coaches who knew nothing about him, or move to Lewiston, ID
where family members lived, and be the starting QB for the local high school team,
the Bengals. Clark had a good repoire with the coaches after having played them in
league games previously and decided to spend his senior year of high school away
from his family.
"I knew all along I wasn't going to play football for my dad, we had a lot of talks
about that and did not feel it would be right. So I moved up the schedule on moving
out. I live with family here and am concentrating on getting great grades so I can
go to whichever school I want to," said Clark.
According to J.D. Clark: "I don't believe in that form of nepotism. If I had a small
business and employed my son with the possibility he would one day run the
company, I don't think that's a big deal. This is something where the QB competition
affects many people. It affects the people rooting for the team, the players on the
team and many other things. We just didn't think it would be right."
Clark is a dynamic, dual threat QB with an average arm and accuracy who is quicker
than he is fast, but nevertheless can be a threat to take it to the distance once in
awhile. The biggest negative may be his height. He's listed at 5'11" but may be an
inch shorter. Regardless, he is a 4-star prospect who may have gained more
attention than noramal due to being related to a successful coach. Both Idaho and
Boise State are recruiting him, along with BYU.
"Mom is pushing for BYU, dad is pushing for the Vandals, and I'm open minded but
really like the idea of playing for Boise State," said Clark. "It's going to be a difficult
decision."
Other teams that were at the top of his own "wish list" did not recruit him, including
Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
"I would have liked to play in the Pac-12 but it doesn't look like that is going to work
itself out," said Dane Clark.
Week 5 Game Report
Vandals run wild over rival WSU, 38-14
The Idaho Vandals defense is playing as well for new coach Bobby Petrino as it ever
did for Coach Clark. Despite once again having to face an air assault throughout
the contest (3 runs by WSU) they shut out the Cougars in the first half and
controlled the action throughout.
Eric Lawson was a surgeon, completing 22 of 30 for 307 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT on the
day. Albert Hidalgo added 133 rushing yards on 35 carries as the Vandals have been
consistent at about a 50/50 run to pass ratio under Petrino and his son, offensive
coordinator Nick Petrino. At times, the team became pass happy under Clark with
the development of Lawson. However, throwing fewer passes has resulted in better
efficiency, and Lawson (191.6 rating) is one of the most efficient passers in the
nation this season. He has 1593 yards and 23 TD with 2 INT, completing 70% of his
throws.Last edited by Hellisan; 12-04-2016, 03:21 PM.Comment
