That's definitely one way to shake things up this season. Hopefully Coach Clark and the rest of the Hawkeyes can focus on Illinois but I can imagine how difficult that will be. Zach Bell looks like he's in for a long day, though luckily the Illini WRs are too much taller than him. That 47 strength rating isn't going to help. Only time will tell if this motivates the team to come closer together or starts pulling the team apart.

WOW....I just laughed out loud for real in my office at that headline and had co-workers wondering what's going on.
That's a lot of firepower lost. All of a sudden, you guys look super-thin.Click here to read my dynasty report:

. Throwing shade! I felt as though the old gang rape standby was a little too current and a bit much for this board and a bar room brawl a bit unrealistic for how many players I needed to do this with...But I needed a way for the citizenship rating to come through in this first season in a more meaningful way. Usually it will mean the random suspension or guy here or there kicked off the team, but I felt with the first year... There's usually a lot of turnover.
Plus, we've all read those dynasties where the entire life of the coach is fictionalized from the moment he's pinching off a #2 in the morning so c'mon ease up on me!
Thanks man! It's all about testing the depth chart and trimming off some of the bad citizenship fat from the existing team. We will lose some real talent, but some of them are seniors. Still, I really thought this season might be really good (9+ wins) and not sure if that will still turn out that way now.Comment

Re: 2018 Week 10: Illinois
Great effort by the defense all things considering. Things don't look great for the offense though, between Barnes subpar performance and Horne's injury. Been a tumultuous first season in Iowa for Coach Clark, hopefully one of his players with a high work ethic/character rating steps up and rallies the team together. My Dynasties

Man that seems like one heck of a game. Obviously the mistakes being reversed could have effected the game differently for you but man that seems like it was a relatively intense game to play.
The team seems to be falling apart at the seams but like knickerbocker said, hopefully someone can pull through. My Newport Falcons Football Dynasty (Teambuilder) (CFB25)

Around the NCAA: Week 11
The Big Momentum | The Idaho Vandals are confident having won 8 straight
Cornhuskers Upset! | #7 Nebraska loses a shocker to Big Ten Opponent Wisconsin 44-20
Time to Celebrate! | All is well in Ann Arbor as Wolverines down Big Ten Rival MSU
Conference Clash! | Minnesota rolls on, this time against Big Ten opponent Maryland
Fight for Survival | The ACC spotlight is on the #25 Ga Tech vs #2 Miami game this weekend
SEC Matchup | This week's big game matches Top 10 powers #10 Tenn and #8 Texas A&M
Make or Break Weekend | On weekend full of Top 25 action, #13 Illinois matches up with #4 Minnesota.
Eric Lawson has a game of epic proportions
The criteria used by the media to determine Heisman candidates is abject nonsense
since apparently, Eric Lawson is not a candidate. Lawson leads the nation in passing
yards, passing efficiency, and passing touchdowns. Lawson has nearly 1,000 more
passing yards than the next quarterback and has 16 more touchdown passes than
Cornelius Leierer of Oklahoma State (And I thought the game engine wasn't capable
of coming up with original sounding names!).
Last week against UNLV, the Vandals faced off in a barnburner. UNLV was dominating
early, so Lawson and his top targets including Youmani Jones, Terrance Carstens,
and Tyleke Tennison had to get it going. They mostly abandoned a running game
that was having an off day and started gashing the Runnin Rebels defense for huge
yards, play after play. the result was 721 total yards of offense and 669 passing
yards for Lawson, breaking yet another record in the Idaho books which was not
previously his.
The Vandals came back from a 21-3 deficit and led 31-28 at halftime, pulling away
with 17 points in the second half while shutting out the Rebels for a 48-28 win.
Coach Petrino had no problem letting Lawson continue to chuck it in the second half
since the game wasn't technically out of reach. The dogs were finally called off late
in the fourth quarter. Lawson surpassed Brian Lindgren, who needed 49 completions
for 637 yards, whereas Lawson did it with 29 thanks to the explosive efforts of
Jones (10 rec, 238 yds, 2 TD), Carstens (6, 124, 1), Tyleke Tennison (2, 123, 1) and
others.

Week 11 Preview
Iowa is favored in a home game that may be considered a must win. The Purdue
Boilermakers come into the game with a 3-5 record, the inverse of the 5-3 Hawkeyes
however they have played better than their record would indicate. They have
repeatedly played good teams very close and have the opportunity to do that once
again, or better yet, come away with a win against Iowa.
Iowa has the talent advantage in the game. However, the turnover differential
favors the Boilermakers, who have done a good job taking care of the football this
season. Masin Barnes in particular will have to do a much better job than he has of
taking care of the football.
The skill position battle looks like it will favor the Hawkeyes, and they should have
the advantage on the line when on defense. If the offensive line of the Hawkeyes -
reeling from the loss of Dimonti Gates - can control the active front 7 of the
Boilermakers, expect a win in this one.

Great way to fight back for the victory. Barnes could have folded after that INT but he stayed strong and lead his team to the end. Great leadership from the young manComment

Around the NCAA: Week 12
NU's Champ Davis is having a season worth remembering
Running back James Dixon was the #1 starter heading into the season when he
suffered a foot stress fracture that would see him miss the majority of the season.
Backup Champ Davis has stepped in admirably and leads the nation in rushing yards.
The Wildcats like to run the ball, but even so, Davis has not done it with sheer
volume. He's done it with a 6.6 yards per carry average.
The Wildcats have mixed up their running back usage in a way that defies typical
CPU activities, so it's worth looking at their season. In Game 1, Dixon was not the
leader in carries despite presumably being healthy. Davis went 23/129/1 in that one.
The next week is when Dixon suffered the major injury. Lee Lawson saw the majority
of the carries and Davis got just 7 touches on the game. In a W vs. Duke, Davis
took the job with 22/160/1. Davis trucked Michigan State for 26/190/2 even though
NU lost, 21-42. Penn State Beat the Wildcats but but Davis went 29/152/1. The
Golden Gophers also came away with a win but not before Davis and his 31/287/3
had their say. After a bye week, Davis faced Iowa and suffered an injury that would
see him miss most of the game, yet he led with 14/88. Purdue was NU's second win
and Champ had something to do with that - 39/241/2. Then last week, Davis
hammered on Wisconsin for 39/238/3. He is having simply an amazing season and
what makes it more interesting is that he is not all that highly rated. he also does
NOT catch passes. (2 rec, 24 yds on the season). It will be a crime if Dixon comes
back into the fold and regains the starting job with how Davis has torn it up.
Champ Davis: 6'2" 233 - 229 car, 1517 yds, 6.6 avg, 13 TD

Defeated! | Army is in shock after losing their first game of the season, 28-30 to Mizzou
Lightin' Up the Jungle | Auburn usually dominates at The Jungle, but Georgia wins, 42-35 in an upset.
Road Warriors | MSU Bulldogs edge out Alabama despite the 106,193 fans in attendance.
Bama is just 6-4 on the season, and MSU is 5-5.
Big Ten Showdown | Cornhuskers are confident after an upset victory over Michigan
Fight for Survival | The ACC spotlight is on the #25 Ga Tech vs #2 Miami game this weekend
Still Unbeaten! | The Hurricanes remain unbeaten with 28-28 win over conference foe Ga Tech.
Fightin' till the End! | #13 Illinois knocks out Minnesota to improve to 3-3 in Big Ten play.
The loss is Minnesota's first of the season in what has been a huge year for the Golden Gophers
Win Comes at a Cost | TCU's T.J. Williams out at least 9 weeks after rivalry win over Baylor.
Williams: 94 OVR, 86 SPD, 99 PUR
Lawson regroups, leads Vandals to 45-35 win vs. Nevada
Eric Lawson was victimized twice by cornerback J. Harris in the first quarter, with the
two INT including one that was returned 51 yards for a TD. With Albert Hidalgo kept
in check for much of the first half, Lawson and company kept gunning, but stayed
away from that right side of the field and were able to slowly pull away. Hidalgo got
hot in the second half and was a security blanket for Lawson as he regrouped from
his early struggles. Highlights of the game included an 80-yard TD by Youmani Jones
a 24 yard reception for TD by Hidalgo, and a 38 yard run in the fourth quarter to ice
it for the Vandals, also by Hidalgo. Lawson finished 28-47/431/4/2 while Hidalgo
went 29/173/2 on the ground and 7/106/1 via the pass. Jones caught 8 passes for
162 yards and 2 TD, while Terrance Carstens chipped in 7/92/1 for the Vandals.

Good points, and thanks for sticking up for Masin Barnes! He never gets no respect! He's a pain to use after having Lawson as my QB for the past few years. Lawson is now a 99 OVR. Barnes... Not so much. Have to manage him very carefully, he usually comes out of the gate missing passes by several yards. He settled down nicely in this one late in the game.Comment

Re: Around the NCAA: Week 12
Wow the pace of this thing has really picked up...I love it.
First of all, love the writing style. Not only do the game reports look like newspaper articles, they also read like newspaper articles. Those lead-in paragraphs sound very professionally written.
That Illinois loss had to be quite frustrating. 10-7 in a game in which your QB turned it over three times. Such a masterful defensive performance squandered and on top of that, ol' Coach Clark has to go home that night seemingly every week, flip on SportsCenter, and watch his old QB Eric Lawson go absolutely nuts.
Love the suspension decisions by the program. This certainly throws a monkey-wrench into things. That's a lot of young building blocks walking out of the door. Damn kids!
Really surprised you needed such a dramatic comeback to defeat Purdue; I thought going in, after the tough loss, that you guys would dominate, but all those injuries and suspensions have really taken its toll. Nevertheless, congrats on becoming bowl eligible.
Looking good, old timer!Click here to read my dynasty report:
