      Player News
Miami RB Chris Walton suspended for remainder of season for academic violation. Projected as a mid round pick, the troubled but talented running back could see his stock drop considerably following his latest transgression.

      Scouting Spotlight

       photo image_1.jpg

RG – Allen Gilbert, Florida St.
Draft Projection: RD 2 Pick #29
      Age: 21
      HT: 6’3”
      WT: 313
      Style: Pass Blocker
      Scheme: Vertical Offense
      Production Grade: 94
      Physical Attributes: STR – B, STA – A, INJ – B
      Position Specific Grades: PBK – A, RBK – B, ILB – B
      Instincts: AWR – D
      Intangible: B

      Scouting Notes:

Highly productive player from elite program. Prototypical size for NFL guard. Good but not great strength and durability could be a concern. Grades out as top blocker in draft class. With a year or two of experience could be among elite guards in league. Not a perfect fit for our current system, may be better suited to play on the left side.

If you could pick him up in the late 3rd to 4th round i think he would be a solid draft pick for you. Having good blocking skill already and sitting behind someone for a year or two he could be a stud for you.

          Payday for Two Jets

          SNY.TV
          Matt Cosci November 11, 2014

The Jets players and coaches are on a much needed break as their late bye week began yesterday. The Jets front office on the other hand is still hard at work. This morning the announcement was made that the organization has reached agreements with two of their impending free agents, nose tackle Damon Harrison and receiver Jeremy Kerley.

           photo image_2.jpg

Harrison (25) signed a 5 year extension worth $30 million, $12 million of which is guaranteed. The undrafted free agent out of William Penn made the Jets roster as a rookie in 2012, but saw limited playing time in his first year. In 2013 Harrison was named starter out of training camp and quickly made his mark as one of the best run defenders in the league. Nicknamed “Snacks” for his ability to eat up blockers, Harrison has now emerge as a leader in his second year as a starter and has also added some pass rush production, recording 3 sacks so far this season. The $6 million per year average makes Harrison the 3rd highest paid player in the league at the 3-4 defensive tackle position.

Rex Ryan was reached for comment on the Harrison extension, “I’m so freakin’ happy for Damon and his family. He’s worked so damn hard by going undrafted to one of the premier players at his position. It’s a mountain of money for a mountain of a man, and he deserves every cent!”

           photo image.jpg

The Jets also locked up one of their offensive weapons, giving receiver Jeremy Kerley a 4 year extension totaling $6 million with $2.2 million in guarantees. Kerley (25) was selected by the Jets in the 5th round of the 2011 draft out of TCU. The diminutive slot receiver and punt returner is having a career year this season, giving Geno Smith a reliable target over the middle and providing big plays in the return game. Through 10 games Kerley has 43 rec, 642 yards, and 4 td’s and is on pace to eclipse career bests in all.

With that type of production the Kerley extension is being viewed as quite the shrewd move by the Jets front office. One league executive said, “The key was not letting him reach the market. That’s a heck of a contract for what he brings. On the plus side for Kerley, if he stays healthy he’ll be in line for another contract before he’s 30.”

The one noticeable name missing from the payout list is DE Muhammad Wilkerson. The 4th year pro also has a contract expiring at the end of this season, but there’s no word on negotiations as of yet.

Re: Piloting the Jets: A Madden Franchise

Ugh, that was a very tough game against the Steelers. Roethlisberger was unstoppable. That one pains me.

I agree with the general assessment on Gilbert. I think he will probably go though before he is a good value pick for you. As the other poster said, I don't think higher than round 3 would be worth it for you and I see a team reaching mid-round two to pick him up as a starter. I know guards aren't considered a premium at least not like tackles, but I have built some pretty solid running games behind them.

How is your owner mode (funds) looking after the two resignings? I agree with the giant contract for Harrison. Good linemen are so hard to find (especially nose tackles) and I always am of the opinion you build from the ball out. Controlling the trenches is everything to a longterm perennial winner. I think the re-signing of Kerley was good for the price tag. He is having a career year but I think with the development of other receivers, he could be replaced if need be.

Loving this as always my friend. Happy birthday! Wishing you all the best! and happy to hear you are sticking with this despite the great gift.

Yeah I was thinking middle 3rd. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks cheese, both of our starting guards contracts are expiring so I'm looking to possibly fill a need at that position through the draft.

After the 2 extensions we have $60m in the bank....that ticket pricing man!!! Lol

I actually gave Kerley more than he was asking for, Harrison too but not too much more. With just $2.2m in guarantees spread over 4 years, his cap hit is minimal if we need to move on.

Re: Piloting the Jets: A Madden Franchise

Sorry for the lack of updates. My soon to be two year old daughter has decided for the last week to not fall asleep at a reasonable hour. With the wife working nights my game time has been interrupted. I was hoping to get the Buffalo game in tonight, instead I'm watching Goldie and Bear, eating goldfish. It's all good though. Hopefully we can get past this phase quickly. Still enjoying the other threads!

                          Scouting Notes:

Very Productive player from Big10 conference. Checks all the boxes for size and physical attributes. Older player already 24 years old. Solid coverage skills, but nothing that jumps off the page. Good fit for what we ask for out of our corners, but may be better suited to play NB to start career.

I like Pittman, but I feel like you have bigger needs to address with that high of a pick.

Well we only have 3 CB's under contract going into next year and the only one rated higher than 70 is Milliner (74). A lot will depend on what positions we're able to address in free agency.

Ah that is my mistake, for some reason I thought you were deeper at the position. Well that changes a lot then.
