I agree Bullet on the 4 big posts or so a week. For the off-season tho, it makes more sense to space out the posts a little bit imo to create the feeling of "time passing". That's just my opinion, its whatever works for you. I'm just here to enjoy the ride.

            Aug. 4, 2017

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — North Florida University's football team took to the field in the program's second pre-season camp some 60 strong with a brand new head coach in Todd Haley.

“We can really take the next step this time around," said Haley at a press gathering prior to practice. “Being in the Sun Belt, we’ll be matched up with more teams of our caliber. We also have experience across the board, even as freshman, not too many teams can say the majority of their returning letterman have played or started in games.”

Unlike the first year of practice where nearly everything was coordinated and orchestrated by the coaching staff, the 2017 squad took to the field with leadership. The incoming freshmen, which were 21 deep, followed UNF sophomores who didn't miss a step, picking up right where they left off in spring where they got their first piece of Haley's new system.

All players who were expected to attend reported. Running back Antoine Bowers who underwent shoulder surgery following an injury during the spring game withstood a difficult rehab program and could possibly miss more time.

"The spot to expect the most improvement will be the offensive line," Haley added. “Everything starts up front and those guys had a rough going last year to my understanding. They’ve been the main focus since spring, they’re play is needed to run our offense.”

              Caleb Henderson
              Making the Move: Caleb Henderson

              Aug. 14, 2017

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Third string is nothing new to Ospreys quarterback Caleb Henderson. He knew the minute he tried out for the team in 2016 that it would be his role. Now he has the chance to become a key asset for the Ospreys in 2017, as the starting placekicker.

The position was vacated when former starter Seth Hughey announced his decision to leave the football program and join the UNF soccer team. Hughey, who kicked the gamewinning field goal to win UNF's first ever game, was underutilized but went 8-of-9 in 2016. In the wake of his leave, Head coach Todd Haley hosted a tryout that saw thirty UNF students attend with returning letterman Caleb Henderson coming out with the upper-hand.

To everybody’s surprise, the sophomore came out and booted the football everywhere from 20-to-45 yards before coming just short of the 50-yard mark. From that point on, the coaching staff had already begun to ink in Henderson’s name on the depth chart.

“I was really, really surprised,” Henderson said. “I’ve kicked the ball before but I’ve never done it seriously.”

Henderson, who joined the inaugural team last year as a walk-on quarter, entered the UNF campus with an unusual story. The Ann Harbor, Mich. native was a late bloomer in high school and never even had a shot at cracking third-string.

Henderson, 19, has yet to play an official down of football.

“It was tough because I never really felt I was given a chance,” Henderson said. “But then again, who else would take a 5-foot-5, 120 pound quarterback seriously? I couldn’t really blame my coaches. I only stuck around because I liked to win, and we won a lot.”

Fresh off Huron’s 2015 MHSAA state-championship season, Henderson assumed his football days were beyond over. Days later he uploaded a video of himself on Instagram throwing a football at plants from distances away with breathtaking accuracy; captioning it ‘What could’ve been’.

The ridiculous, yet amazing video went viral and soon made its way to coaching offices that were impressed enough to send out letters to Henderson’s home address.

“Most of them were Division-II,” he said. “They were all telling me I could have a guaranteed spot on the team but I wouldn’t get a scholarship right away. I wasn’t really interested. I didn’t even really want to play football anymore, the video was just a joke.”

A few months after being accepted at North Florida University, Henderson had a change of thought and decided to go out for the football team that would field its inaugural team in 2016. Reluctantly, he made the official dress roster and now in 2017 Henderson, who stands at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds, will have a shot at making a name for himself with the Ospreys.

“Guess I won’t have to be the ‘other Caleb’ anymore,” Henderson said in reference to Caleb Poinsette, the UNF’s starting quarterback.

                About Florida

The No. 7 ranked Gators opened their 2017 campaign in week one with a 31-7 defeat over New Mexico State. Treon Harris threw for 123 yards and a score while Jordan Cronkrite dialed in 117 yards on the ground and a touchdown. The devastating Florida defensive secondary was led by Jalen Tabor who brought down three interceptions against the Aggies. As a team, the Gators held New Mexico State to just 230 yards while going 1-12 on third down conversions.

                Injury Report

North Florida's Antoine Bowers is listed as questionable as the halfback continues to deal with a shoulder injured suffered back in the spring game.

The ironic thing is if I couldn't play quarterback when I played football irl, my second and third choices were punter and kicker because I played soccer. That was a really cool article tho, and hey at least I'll see the field this year lol. Can't wait for the season to get underway!

Haha that's pretty cool. I knew I had to change your position after the spring game.. your guy took two of the biggest sacks I'd seen on this game, then topped it off with a pick.

And like you said, I wanted to give him a chance to see the field. Gonna try to play this Florida game today! Thanks for posting

                      Gainesville, FL

                      Sept. 5, 2017

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Treon Harris threw for 225 yards and a touchdown while adding two additional scores on the ground Saturday evening, leading No. 6 ranked Florida to a 36-14 over North Florida who opened their 2017 season in Gainesville.

Harris tossed his lone scoring pass of 78 yards to tight end Deandre Goolsby and added touchdown runs of five and four yards. The Gators also scored on a team safety while Jordan Cronkrie’s rushed for a touchdown and freshman placekicker Isaac Black added two field goals.

The victory was the ninth straight home win for Florida, which went 7-0 last fall to finish 10-3 overall. The Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, or “The Swamp”, is currently listed as the third toughest place to play in all of FBS Football.

North Florida, a second-year program led by debuting head coach Todd Haley, posted scores that both effectively began and ended the game as Caleb Poinsette dished out his two touchdown passes to freshmen Kahlil Dixon and Noah Fontenot.

Poinsette reached the 200 yard mark on his final pass of the game with a 35-yard heave to Marvin Roberson that brought the sophomore quarterback to 224 yards, finishing the game 21-of-43 for North Florida. He threw two interceptions and also lost a fumble while taking six sacks on the day.

Fresh off a school record-tying three interception performance against New Mexico State, Jalen Tabor collected both of Poinsette’s picks while coming up with four pass breakups and three tackles behind the line of scrimmage. The senior cornerback now has five interceptions through two games despite going two seasons without recording a single pick.

Tabor won player of the game honors along with North Florida’s Tomell One. One, who transferred to UNF from FAU in 2015, also negated a school record in his first game, picking up three of the Ospreys’ seven sacks against the Gators.

Treon Harris shifted momentum for Florida following the safety, producing two consecutive touchdowns to help the Gators build a 22-7 lead going into halftime. Jordan Cronkrite added solid ground efforts with 155 yards while tacking on 44 yards receiving.

                      Injury Report

Running back Antoine Bowers, who separated his shoulder during the spring game, was expected to only up to two months. Bowers was listed as questionable, and could possibly return to the field next week against USF.

Florida's Jordan Cronkrite left the game for just two plays before returning after suffering a minor back injury.

                      Notes
                      • North Florida's 14 points is the most ever scored against a ranked opponent. Saturday's match marks the fifth contest that has put the Ospreys against ranked competition.

                      • North Florida's 13-play, 50-yard touchdown drive to begin the game was the first time in school history that the team scored on the opening possession.

                      • The Ospreys rallied for a record-setting seven sack performance against the Gators.

                      • Under Todd Haley's guidance, the Ospreys debuted both a new style of offense as well as a 3-4 defense after running a 4-3 last season.

                      • North Florida debuted with their alternative road uniform combination with the white jersey and gray pants.

While the Bulls prove to be a well developed program, the Fighting Ospreys are looking to make a name for themselves in what is portrayed to be a heated, exciting battle year in and year out.

                          UNF Last Game Recap: Florida

The Ospreys opened their second-year campaign against now-No. 3 ranked Florida at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium where Gators increased their home streak to nine wins following a 36-14 win over UNF. The Ospreys had a share of offensive woes, committing three turnovers while adding just 26 rushing yards on 26 carries. On defense, UNF showcased a pesky pass rush that amounted for a program high seven sacks, but the Gators' high pace offense was too much to overcome as they recorded 399 yards along with seven trips to the red zone.

                            Sept. 13, 2017

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — North Florida started strong Saturday, forcing two consecutive turnovers while positing 14 unanswered points.

And just as quickly as the Ospreys started, the lead disappeared nearly as fast. Despite entering the third quarter with a 20-10 lead on the road, North Florida committed three turnovers in the second half and lost to its geographical rivals of South Florida (2-0), 46-27.

Two of the UNF turnovers led the USF touchdowns, including a 59 yard pick-six return by true freshman safety Nigel Meade. Overall, the Bulls outpaced the UNF defense for 317 yards of offense in the second half after opening the game with just 191 compared to the Ospreys’ 295.

UNF (1-2) had a chance to regain possession of the ball late in the fourth quarter while down by just a score, but a six yard Marlon Mack plunge led the Bulls’ to another score.

On the ensuing drive, UNF quarterback Caleb Poinsette threw his third interception to effectively end the game as USF’s Mack took the ball in for the outing's final score.

Outside of his turnover fault, Poinsette appeared poised in the game with 338 yards passing. Before hitting tumult in the second half, the sophomore appeared on the verge of breaking his record of 409 passing yards which he set last year as a true freshman.

UNF freshman wide receiver Noah Fontenot, following a six-catch week against Florida last week, hauled in seven catches for a season high 140 yards. Fellow freshman Marvin Roberson added six grabs for 121 yards for North Florida.

Running back Danny Farris finished with 70 yards and a touchdown while ushering for the Ospreys on 20 carries. Caleb Poinsette added a score and 28 yards on the ground, but fumbled the ball inside the end zone late in the fourth quarter which was, however, recovered by running back Marvin Roberson for his first score with the Ospreys.

The two teams made trips to the red zone on six occasions with each scoring three touchdowns, but USF coming out on top with two field goals. The Ospreys were 11-19 on third down conversions, converting on just two in the second half after beginning the game 9-12.

                            Injury Report

For the second straight week, UNF running back Antoine Bowers sat out, still nursing a spring practice injury.

USF entered the game without center Cameron Ruff who was listed as questionable after suffering a strained knee last week.
