Re: One Moore Time, A Coaching Career on NCAA14

    PREVIEW CONTINUED

Welcome back to the ESPN College Gameday Season Preview, well we know that Florida and Colorado State are making huge headlines and news worthy stories with their coaching hires, lets take a look at this season Top-25.

Clemson (95 OVR, 99 OFF, 90 DEF)starts the year where they finished sitting in at #1 after a perfect season last year. With only 1 game vs a preseason Top-25 opponent @ #7 Florida State in Week 9, the Tigers biggest challenge could come from the Florida Gators in Week 1.

    Coach Dabo Swinney
"Obviously anytime you finish a season perfect and win a National Title, the next season everyone has you as their #1 target to beat. I know for a fact that Coach Moore is taking over a better team then the 7 wins the Gators got last year and I expect it to be a battle in the Swamp Week 1"
The Tigers will have a 5th year SR Tom Williams (95 OVR) running the show at QB. Williams however has only attempted 25 passes in his career completing 9 of them with 2 INT's. But they also boast a very talented backfield with SR M. Moore (95 OVR, 970 yds rushing) and RS JR J. Johnson (95 OVR) to help balance their offensive attack.

Auburn (93 OVR, 97 OFF, 90 DEF) starts the year #2. Coming off a OT victory in OT against UCLA, the Auburn Tigers like their rival Clemson start out the year with a pretty easy schedule including their first 3 games at home and they too don't face a preseason Top-25 program until Week 10 vs #13 Arkansas. The date everyone has circled however is Week 14 @ #6 Alabama.

LSU (91 OVR,95 OFF, 90 DEF) starts out the year #3. For 14 weeks last season LSU was undefeated and looking like they would be playing for National Title, but a loss to Auburn in the Sun Belt Title game, followed by a loss to Boise State in the Rose Bowl, has left this Tiger nation hoping for a different outcome. With Auburn not on the schedule this year, many think it could be a repeat of last season with the 2 Cat's squaring off in Championship Week, but unlike Clemson or Auburn, LSU actually has a schedule worthy of the rankings, as they have a non-conference matchup's vs #17 Oklahoma and Coach Moore and the Gators plus a home game vs #6 Alabama and Week 14 @ #13 Arkansas.

Ohio State (99 OVR,99 OFF, 99 DEF) starts the year at #4 after finishing last season super disappointed. The Buckeyes failed to win the Big Ten title (losing to Minnesota) and had to settle for a matchup vs South Carolina in the Capital City Bowl. With only a home game vs #24 Notre Dame standing in their way before a Week 14 matchup @ #20 Michigan, the Buckeyes could likely put themselves in a position to get revenge for last season's disappointments.

Stanford (91 OVR,90 OFF,92 DEF) rounds out your Top-5 at #5. The Cardinals beat UCLA to win the Pac-12 and stay undefeated, but lost to Clemson in the Title game on a late 4th Quarter FG. The Cardinals will look to see if they can get back to the game minus their record setting QB.

    Alabama is #6
    Florida State is #7
    UCLA is #8
    Washington is #9
    Colorado State is #10
    Minnesota is #11
    Pitt is #12
    Arkansas is #13
    Boise State is #14
    Texas is #15
    Tennessee is #16
    Oklahoma is #17
    Texas A&M is #18
    Kansas State is #19
    Michigan is #20
    Ole Miss is #21
    Arizona is #22
    Oregon is #23
    Notre Dame is #24
    Army West Point is #25
    Florida is #32

We know that JR RB K. Anderson (Florida) is on of the Preseasons Top-5 Heisman Hopefuls, but lets take a look at the other 4.

RS SR QB A. Key-(98 OVR) from Alabama returns for his final season after completing 203/367 pass's for 2699 yds with 30 TD's and 9 INT to go with 654 yds rushing and 6 TD's on the ground.

Fellow RS SR QB Matt Mitchell (96 OVR) of Oklahoma joins him on the list. Mitchell. Like Key, Mitchell put up similar #'s last year completing 175/306 pass's for 2606 yds with 32 TD and 5 INT, to go with 748 yds rushing and 5 TD's.

Joining Anderson in the discussion for the Top RB in the nation are 2 guy's from the Armed Forces.

RS JR Keith Moss (84 OVR) of Army-293 carries 1646 yds 16 TD and
SR Eric Simms (91 OVR) of Air Force-278 carries 1623 yds 17 TD

      FLORIDA TEAM PREVIEW

Facing the #1 team and defending National Champs in Week 1 will be the biggest challenge of Coach Kellen Moore's coaching career, but with 88,000+ fans behind him and a very talented team playing for him, Coach Moore believes the impossible can happen.

      Coach Moore
"I have been a underdog my entire life, so it's a role I know well and I am excited to be play my part. Florida has a rich history of producing Championships and thats what I plan to get us back too, and the great part is I won't do it alone"
      Quarterback
We have already heard SO L. West (85 OVR) will be running the show but don't count out FR T. Campbell (80 OVR) from potentially making a impact this season. RS SO M. Ward (72 OVR) provides depth as the #3

      Runningback
A super talented trio of players already discussed in a earlier writeup, I expect to see big #'s out of Anderson (89), Stewart (91) and Lloyd (90) this season, especially with RS SR S. Adams 5'11 269 lbs!!(85 OVR) leading the way at FB

      Wide Reciever
RS SR D. Washington (95) is the #1 target and impact player, but West will have a 4 other talented SR WR's to spread to the ball too. Even though they only combine for a total of 21 career catches.

      K. Miller (85 OVR)
      D. Holloway (84 OVR)
      J. Swain (79 OVR)
      Z. Webb (78 OVR)

      Tight End

SR David Vinson (84 OVR) moves from FB to TE taking over the #1 spot, but with only 8 career catches, one has to wonder how big of role will he play. The TE position has been a huge producer in past years in K-Moore's offense both at BSU and CSU, so Vinson will need to be ready.

RS JR K. O'Conner (67 OVR) will serve as the #2 and backup FB. O'Conner has decent size 6'3 270 lbs but also has some pretty decent speed (77) the only issue is his hands (67 catch)

      0-LINE

The 0-Line is a mix of new and old.. RS SO B. Bryant (86 OVR) takes over as the LT joined by SR T. Hayward (94 OVR) returns at LG. R S JR L. Wade (77 OVR) takes over as the Center, well RS FR R. Miller (75 OVR) RG and RS SR A. Pennington (93 OVR) RT will man the right side. RS SO R. Holmes (86 OVR) will handle the backup spots at both guard and tackle.

      D-LINE

JR K. Ford (86 OVR) returns as a Pre-Season All-American. Last year Ford had 7.5 sacks and 26 TFL. Joining him on the outside pass rush will be
JR E. Browning (84 OVR). Browning has 5.5 career sacks.

Starting at DT, JR. T. Miller (83) and SR T. Banks (83) are not great pass rusher's but they should be able to just their size to help stop the run.

      LineBackers

SR's J. Robinson (84 OVR) and D. Payne (78 OVR) will man the outside spots with fellow SR M. Van (78 OVR) providing backup.

SR K. Chavez (82 OVR) will man the Middle, with JR K. Barnes (77 OVR) providing backup.

      Secondary

SO J. McGee (84) and RS JR D. Woods (83) are the starting CB's, but expect JR V. Cooper (80) to also see some action.

6'4 206 lb M. Bonner (90) is the leader of this Defense from his FS position. Fellow JR J. Bolden (87) will man the SS spot. SR K. Jack (81) will provide backup at both spots as well as serve as the Nickle and Dime packages.

      Special Teams

SR E. Martin (93 OVR) is the kicker. He is a career 80% (48-61) with a long of 53 yds. He will also handle punting duties as well.

JR RB D. Lloyd (99 OVR) will hand kick and punt returns. Last season he had 4 returns for 70 yds before getting hurt for the season.

      Coach Kellen Moore
"I am excited by this roster and the depth we have. Obviously WR is a huge need for us this year in Recruiting with 5 of our current 8 players graduating. TE is also a huge need for us as well as FB. We lose 18 Seniors total and 11 of them are on the offensive side of the ball. On Defense our big need is OLB with 3 of our 7 Seniors coming from that position including both starters and the main backup, but with a solid D-Line and secondary returning it will allow us to focus alot of our attentions on those need areas."

          COLORADO STATE TEAM PREVIEW

          Quarterback

RS SR A. Clayton (99 OVR) returns as this season's starter after missing 12 weeks last year with a leg injury. After completing just 3/4 pass's for 39 yds as a RS FR, Clayton had a breakout season his Soph season combining for over 3700 yds with 36 TD's and 14 INT. He entered his JR year as the starter but was lost in Week 2, returning in the Big 12 Championship game and Bowl win over Texas finishing the year with 1555 yds passing and a 20 TD's and 11 INT's.

Well Clayton was out SO J. Magnum (83 OVR) had a breakout season including breaking 2 school records passing for 3699 yds with 28 TD's and 20 INT's as a true freshman.

RS FR Brian Carter (82 OVR) a former 4* Recruit takes over the Ram's #3 role this season, many felt like the new coaching staff should have redshirted Magnum and made Carter the new #2 giving the 2 young guns a chance to battle it out next season after Clayton's graduation for the chance to be a 3 year starter.

          Coach Kirby Moore
"I will be honest, we approach Jakari with the idea of redshirting him, but with Clayton's past injury, Jakari wanted the ability to be ready to step in again and be the starter should Clayton go down, and is content with the idea of being the backup all season if that's how it plays out and still having 2 years to start if he can beat out Carter for that job"
RS SO A. Heffner (73 OVR) moves from the #3 role to the #4 this season, as the former 3* recruit decides to stick it out vs transfering.

          Running Back

Gone is 1000 yd rusher Cameron DeAngelis, but coaches are super excited about SO Cedric Hayes (83 OVR). At 6'2 228lbs Hayes is more of a between the tackles runner and has shown he has the skills to be very good. Last season in limited action Hayes carried the ball 67 times for 278 yds (4.1 avg) well scoring 3 TD's as a true freshman.

Taking over the backup role this season will be RS SR T. Gaines (79 OVR) and RS JR D. Nelson (78 OVR). The Duo has a combined 10 carries for 37 yds over their career.

RS JR M. Terry (76 OVR) takes over as the team's starting FB, but don't let the title FB fool you, Terry is a O-Lineman disguised with a #43 on his jersey. At 6'0 276lbs!! This kid is a beast of a blocker and should open up some huge holes for Hayes to run through.

          Wide Receiver

Gone is 2 time All-American National Award winning Brandon Baker and TD machine C. Wright.

Now its the duo of RS SR D. Flanagan (90 OVR) and RS SR B. Davis (84 OVR) taking over.

Flanagan has seen action as the #3/#4 WR the past 3 years with 102 career catches for 1559 yds and 8 TD's, #'s Baker broke in 1 season, but expectations are high he too could put up #'s in his final year bigger then the 3 previous combined.

Davis is a 6'6 Redzone threat who looks like a twin to Wright. He too has seen action the past 3 years with a combined 49 rec for 680 yds and 5 scores.

SO W. Matthews (81 OVR) returns as the slot WR/#3 after posting 502 yds and 6 TD's on 27 rec last year as a true freshman.

We have a new #12 as JC transfer JR Adrian Tidwell (81 OVR) takes over the #4 spot. Tidwell like Baker is a former QB turned WR out of Kodiak AK. With 4 of the Ram's Top-6 WR's all being SR's, look for Tidwell to join Matthews in the starting lineup next season.

RS SR M. Robinson (81 OVR) will continue to serve as the team's #5 WR, which see's limited action in the past, as the Ram's used TE T. Martin in that role. Robinson for his career has 9 rec for 168 yds (18.7 avg) with 4 TD's.

RS SR J. Campbell (79 OVR) and 6'6 RS SO B. Jackson (78 OVR) will provide solid depth

          Tight End

Gone is 1000 yd receiver T. Martin. RS JR S. Romero (79 OVR) takes over as the team's #1, but with only 18 career rec for 272 yds and 1 TD, he will have to impress the staff to keep the job. RS SO A. Francis (79 OVR) showed he has the ability to go over the middle as year, with 7 rec for 77 yds and 1 score.

          Coach Kirby Moore
"Both Romero and Francis have solid hands (74 catch). Both players have decent speed (76 vs 73) but where Francis could have to potential to take over his blocking ability and size. (Francis is 6'4 277 lbs)"
          O-Line

RS JR J. Miller (80 OVR) takes over protecting Clayton's blindside, well RS JR T. Anderson (74 OVR) takes over at LG.

RS SR S. White (87 OVR) returns as the teams starting Center and lone returning starter, from a line that saw 4 graduations.

RS JR D. Johnson (80 OVR) takes over at RG after spending last season as the backup at guard and center.

RS SO B. Ross (77 OVR) takes over as the starter at RT.

RS FR J. Henry (80 OVR) will be the primary backup at all 3 spots, with RS FR D. Dunn (70) providing depth.

          D-Line

RS SO M. Hollis (73 OVR) and FR J. Harris (78 OVR) take over as the team's DE's. Harris a former 4* Recruit and has some big shoes to fill as the team loses over 20.5 sacks from last season, but at 6'7 my guess is he has big feet.

RS SO M. Slaugther (81 OVR) takes on the role as team captain after being named a Big-12 All-American, expectations are high for this former 4* recruit.

RS SR R. Bennett (79 OVR), RS JR J. Coley (76 OVR), RS FR B. Carrington (73 OVR) and RS FR C. Taylor (71 OVR) provide alot of depth.

          LineBackers

RS SR B. Williams (89 OVR) and RS SR J. Lawrence (85 OVR) are the starters on the outside. Lawrence is the team leader of the "D" and is looking to repeat as the Nation's Best LB.

FR JR D. Martin (80 OVR) will take over as the team's starting MLB.

RS FR G. Hartman (81 OVR,81 SPD) will be the primary backup on the outside well true FR D. Wyatt (79 OVR) will be the backup on the inside.

RS JR C. McGee (78 OVR) provides additional depth.

          Secondary

All-American SR D. Callahan (93 OVR) returns after winning the 2018 Bednarik and Thorpe Awards, with 7 INT's and 8 Pass Deflections. Joining him as a starter this year will be RS SR T. Todd (87 OVR) Todd saw limited action as in the Dime package last year but still managed to have 29 tackles and 2 INT.

RS SR K. Richwalski (89 OVR) is the teams starter at FS well RS JR B. Austin (83 OVR) is the starter at SS. Austin was named to the Big-12 All-American 2nd team Pre-season.

FR M. Rodgers (80 OVR) was a 4* Recruit and will see instant action as the team's Nickle back and #3 CB

RS JR J. Whitaker (79 OVR) takes over the Dime role and will be the primary backup at FS and SS

RS JR A. Skinner (77 OVR) will start the year as the teams #4 CB and provide solid depth.

          Special Teams

SR P. Love (92 OVR) returns for his 4th season. In his career Love has made 40/55 FG's (73%) with a career long of 55 yds last season.

RS FR S. Davis (85) was signed to be Love's replacement next season, but this season he will provide the punting duties.

FR M. Rogers (90 OVR) will take over as the team's primary return man. With 98 SPD and 94 ACC, he has a explosive first step and could end up being better the Lyles who was considered one of the nations best.

          Coach Kirby Moore
"I am excited that CSU has given me the opportunity to follow in my brothers footsteps, and I believe this team has the ability to repeat last year's performance, and with only 14 SR's (8 OFF/6 DEF) on the roster, I see no reason why this team can't be a Big 12 title contender for the next 3-4 years. WR is our biggest hit next season with 4 SR's on the roster and and we will need to find depth at OLB and CB with all the starters graduating."

            NOT IN OUR HOUSE!!!

            GAME RECAP
It was a emotional day for Kellen Moore as walked out of the tunnel with his new team as 88,000+ fans roared. Decked back out in Blue and Orange after a 2 year hiatus of wearing Green and Gold, the Coach Moore era in Florida was ready for their biggest test. Facing them from across the field was the #1 team in the country. The undefeated national champions Clemson Tigers...

Clemson won the toss and elected to kick. Moore wanted to make a statement early, but a fumble on the 3rd play of the game was not the statement he wanted to make. The Defense however would hold strong and limited the Tigers to a 30 yd FG.

The 2nd series however was just what Gator fans wanted to see as well as the nation as Heisman hopeful RB K. Anderson breaks off a 29 yd run for a TD to give Florida the (7-3) lead.

Both teams would trade FG's in the 2nd Quarter making it (10-6) with less then a minute to play in the half, but Florida and more specifically K. Anderson wasn't done as Anderson plows in from 2 yds out to make it (17-6) at the half.

Clemson would open up the 2nd half with their 3rd FG of the game as J. Dickerson connects from 27 yds out to make it (17-9) but the Florida ground game took over with JR D. Lloyd sharing duties with Anderson. Lloyd would score on runs of 3 yds and 1 yds to give the home crowd something to cheer about as Florida takes a (31-9) into the 4th.

The Gator ground attack continued to dominate the Tiger D as Anderson scores his 3rd TD of the game, but with a failed 2pt conversion it was now (37-9).

Finally with 3:37 to play Clemson would find the endzone as J. James scores from 11 yds out to make it (37-16) and despite trailing by 3 scores, Clemson would attempt a onside kick. The kick was success full but after picking up 2 1st downs, the drive would stall as the Tigers turn the ball over on downs.

With less then a minute to play, Florida would add to it's lead as SR E. Martin would connect on a 38 yd FG.

            FINAL SCORE UF-40 CLEMSON-16

            KEY PLAYERS
            QB L. West-20/28 279 yds
            RB-K. Anderson 29 carries 139 yds 3 TD
            RB D. Lloyd-7 carries 23 yds 2 TD
            WR D. Washington-8 rec 90 yds

After the game we caught up with Coach Kellen Moore.

"I couldn't be more happy right now. I have had some big wins in my career both as a player and as a coach, but being able to come here and win my debut game with the Gators in front of the home crowd against the #1 team and defending champs is huge. I know it's only 1 game, but I feel like this game is what's going to light the a uncontrollable fire that can't be put out"

RAMS AND BUFFS BATTLE TO THE END!!!

              GAME RECAP

The Kirby Moore era didn't quite start off with the same bang as his brother. For the past 2 seasons, CSU has dominated Colorado in their yearly Week 1 rivalry game called the Rocky Mountain Showdown, but today's story would start out much much differently.

Colorado would win the toss and elect to kick but they didn't have to wait very long for the offense to take over as Ram's QB A. Clayton throws a INT after completing his first 4 pass attempts.

CU however was unable to capitalize and would punt the ball away after just 4 plays. Armed with a 2nd chance, Clayton again would look sharp completing 4/4 pass's yet again before fumbling the ball on a option pitch.

Unlike CSU, the Buff's didn't completely squander their 2nd attempt at points as QB C. Brown connects on a 4th and 1 pass take I. Gilmore takes 37 yds to the house to make it (7-0).

Things wouldn't get much better for Clayton in the 2nd, as the SR QB throws 2 more INT's but luckily for CSU the Buff's would only manage a 25 yd FG.

Trailing (10-0) with 2:31 to play, Clayton (already with 4 TO's) would finally put his team in the endzone as he finds TE S. Romero on a 12 yd pass play to make it (10-7) with 1:29 to play.

Colorado however was content going into the half with just a 3 point lead and with 4 seconds to play G. Morgan would pound in a 4 yd run to make it (17-7).

With CSU's Offense struggling and with Clayton already responsible for 4 turnovers, most people assumed that Jakari Magnum would see the field in the 2nd half, but after a quick 3 and out to open the half by CU it was Clayton leading the Ram's Offense onto the field.

This time Clayton would deliver as the Senior throws 3 TD's in the Quarter including 2 to SO W. Matthews and a huge 33 yd bomb to D. Flanagan. to give the Ram's the (28-17) lead with 2 minutes to play in the 3rd.

Colorado however wasn't ready to go down without a fight as C. Brown finds C. Rodgers from 7 yds out to make it (28-24) as we head into the 4th.

Leading by 4, the Rams would look to the ground game to take off some time in the 4th, with Cedric Hayes leading the charge with 5 straight carries before leaving the game with a concussion. Backup SR T. Gaines however wouldn't miss a beat as he comes in a reals off 4 straight runs including a 1 yd run for the score (35-24).

Trailing by 2 scores the Buff's would look to go to the air, but the Ram's D is ready as they drop back into a Quarter package, with backup CB A. Skinner coming up huge with a INT.

Armed with the ball and 3:13 to play, CSU would once again look to go to the ground game with Gaines but this time it was the Buff's Defense that was ready as they stop the back in the backfield on consecutive runs setting up a 3rd and 16. Forced to throw Clayton sends out 5 WR's wide. Clayton takes the snap rolls right and fires and hits W. Matthews on a slant play, but the ball goes through Matthews hands and ends up in the hands of the Buff's defender. INT #4, Turnover #5.

Colorado would waste little time with their new life, as Brown drops back and fires a bomb to J. Rutledge for the 46yd score. CU would convert the 2pt play to make it (35-32) with 1:41 to play.

Knowing the onside kick was coming, Coach Moore sends out out the hands team and as Flanagan comes up with the kick.

Armed with all 3 timeout's Colorado still had a little bit of air left in their life support system, but CSU would quickly dash any chances of chance to tie the game. Gaines would gain 6 yds forcing Timeout #1, then it was Clayton keeping it himself picking up the 1st down for Timeout #2, Another 4 yd gain by Gaines and the Buff's were now out of timeouts. All they could do is hope for a miracle. But that miracle never came.

              CSU-35 CU-32

After the game we spoke to Coach Kirby Moore

Reporter-Kirby congrats on your 1st win as a HC. How are you going to celebrate.

Kirby-Well after a dry off from my gatorade bath, I guess I will probably sit down and give my brother a call. I hear he had a pretty big win today too.

Reporter-Tell us, why did you stick with Clayton in the 2nd half despite the 4 turnovers in the 1st half? Will we potentially see you install a 2 QB system moving forward and see some more of Jakari Magnum this season?

Kirby-Well in case you didn't know, now that I am in control of playing calling we have gone away from Kellen's playbook and have installed some of my own plays which happens to to be more of a Spread/Option attack. I believe with Clayton's skill set that this will help him this season. I realize on paper 4 INT's and a Fumble don't look great, but 2 of those INT's were not really bad plays by him but bad luck. As far as a 2 QB system, I don't see us using one fulltime but we will work some series into future games for Jakari and maybe even some for Brian Carter.

Reporter-What's the status on C. Hayes, reports are he left with a concussion. Any chance he miss's time next week?

Kirby-The doctors said everything came back negative, but with everything that is going on both here at the college level and in the NFL we wanted to be safe. We fill good about Gaines's ability to shoulder the load and Clayton has some pretty good wheels too.

Reporter-WR D Flanagan had a big day today with 9 rec for 148 yds, but it also seems like Clayton has a pretty solid relationship with W. Matthews despite them not getting alot of reps last year. What WR do you see ending with the most yards this season?

Kirby-To be honest with you it wouldn't surprise me to see both players finish with over 1000 yds but they are both great talents. However as far as overall #'s go, I really do believe that Flanagan will most likely double his career output and could see him with Brandon Baker type #'s.

              Reporter-Thanks for your time.

                  GATORS IMPROVE TO 2-0!!

                  GAME RECAP
Coming off their biggest win in the past 5 seasons, Gator's Kellen Moore was afraid his team's celebration could cause them to over look (0-1) FIU. The Owls had just scored 40 points in a (46-40) loss to Georgia in Week 1, so it was no secret that FIU knew how to score points.

FIU won the toss and elected to kick, giving the Gators first crack at putting points on the scoreboard, but SO QB L. West would complete just 2 of 5 pass's before the punting unit took the field.

The Owls however wouldn't fair any better as QB J. Carpenter takes a punishing hit by OLB J. Robinson and fumbles the ball as Gator's K. Jack recovers.

Armed with a 2nd chance, West again would look to make something happen but the FIU Defense showed they too knew how to make plays as they pick off West's pass attempt.

But like the Gators, the Owls couldn't get anything going offensively and are forced to punt after Carpenter takes a sack on 3rd and 6.

With the passing game not working, Coach Moore switches things up and goes to the ground game including running 2 plays out of the Wildcat with JR K. Anderson lining up under center and Anderson comes up big ripping off his longest run of the season going 40 yds to put his team on the board (7-0) with 2:16 to play in the 1st Quarter.

The Owls though answer back as Carpenter finds Q. Atkinson on a 21 yd score to make it (7-7).

A 2nd INT by West in would lead to a 30 yd FG by T. Thompson to put FIU up (10-7), and then INT #3 would lead to another TD as Carpenter hits C. Ross from 8 yds out to make it (17-7) with 1:28 to play in the half.

Looking to change things up, Coach Moore pulls West and his 3 INT and inserts true freshman Tim Campbell and the 6'3 Jacksonsville Beach native answers in a big way.

Campbell connects on his first pass for 11 yds to slot WR D. Holloway and then pass #2 finds #1 WR D. Washington who takes the pass 32 yds before being tackled at the 1 yd line. Anderson would punch in the score to make it (17-14) with 46 seconds to play in the half.

Leading by 3 with under a minute to play most assumed FIU would just run out the clock and be happy to have the lead at the half, but the Owls had other plans as Carpenter takes the snap and drops back to pass, but the Gator D is ready as SO CB J. McGee picks off the pass attempt and returns it i the 30.

With 30 seconds to play, Coach Moore sends the play in. Anderson takes the handoff and picks up 7, Campbell playing unlike the true freshman he takes the team to the line and takes the snap, rolls right and fires finding D. Holloway on a 23 yd TD strike. The Gators take the (21-17) lead into the half.

The Owls would open the 2nd half with the ball and after a 13 play 4 minute drive, Q. Atkinson finds the endzone from 4 yds out for his 2nd score of the day to give FIU the (24-21) lead.

As Florida takes the field for the 1st time in the 2nd half it's T. Campbell leading the offense out, it appears L. West's day is done.

Campbell's hot start however is quickly turned into disappointment as the freshman throws a INT. The Gator D however has proven they can make plays as well with 3 turnovers of their own and they answer the call as J. Bolden picks off Carpenter's pass on the 4 yd line preventing the score.

Back to the ground the Gators go as Anderson, Lloyd and Stewart reel off 86 yds on a 14 play series capped by a 4 yd run by Steward to give Florida the lead (28-24) as we head into the 4th.

A quick 3 and out gives Florida the ball back and a chance to maybe put this game away, but after completing 5/6 pass's and setting up a 1st and goal, Campbell is sacked for a 8 yd loss, and then picked off for a 2nd time in the game as FIU's defense continue's to give the hometown fan's some hope.

But the Gator's D also is playing great and again forces FIU to punt. Again with both QB's struggling, Coach Moore switches things back up and goes back to the ground attack which helps set up a 20 yd FG with 2:21 to play giving Florida the (31-24) lead.

FIU's hopes for a upset are not over yet, but were quickly dashed as Carpenter takes a sack for a loss of 8 setting up 2nd and 18 and back to back incompletes make it 4th and 18. Florida drops back into a dime package no wanting to give up the 1st down and rushes only 3, but that's all it took as Carpenter feels the heat and dumps off a short pass over the middle with not chance of a 1st down.

Gators ball with 1:38 to play. FIU still armed with 2 timeouts can only watch as the Anderson picks up a 1st down on his first carry, then another, and then its D. Lloyd taking a screen pass 23 yds to the 12 yd line before going out of bounds.

With no timeouts, FIU has little hope, fans are exciting the stadium, only a few remain to watch as K. Anderson rumbles in from 3 yds out for the final score of the game.

                  FINAL SCORE UF-38 FIU-24

                  KEY PLAYERS

RAMS MOVE TO #6 IN THE NATION!!

                    GAME RECAP

The Colorado State Ram's used a punshing ground attack to propel them to 2-0 on the season with a victory over Arizona State and with the win move up 2 more spots in the Top-25 poll to #6 in the nation.

CSU opened up the 1st Quarter scoring as C. Hayes and D. Nelson both find the endzone to put the Ram's up (14-0).

A Sun Devil TD would make it (14-7) with 4 minutes to play in the half, but CSU wasn't done as QB A. Clayton keeps it on 3rd and goal to score from 1 yd out making it (21-7) at the half.

Both teams would trade TD's back and forth in the 3rd as ASU opens up the scoring with a 5 yd TD run. But Clayton shows he can still make plays with his hands as well as his feet completing a 15 yd TD pass to TE S. Romero. The Sun Devils answer with their own TD pass as R. Carpenter finds T. Johnson from 11 yds out to make it (28-21), but Clayton answer back yet again as he finds SR WR D. Flanagan on a 19 yd score to make it (35-21)

Turnover would plague the 4th Quarter as ASU fumbles the ball away twice, well Clayton also commits 2 turnovers first with a INT and then also with a fumble as neither team finds the endzone.

                    FINAL SCORE CSU-35 ASU-21

                      WEEK 2 RECAP

MAYBE IT'S NOT GOOD TO BE #1

For the 2nd week in a row the #1 team in the country falls as Middle Tennessee pulls off the upset (24-17) win over Auburn.

With the loss Auburn falls to #16.

BRUINS COME UP SHORT VS HUSKIES

Despite not playing in the same conference any more, UW and UCLA still have quite a bit on the line as the #6 Bruins come into Seattle to face the #7 Huskies in a Top-10 battle.

But UCLA's offense must of forgot to get off the bus, as UW wins easily (24-6)

With the win Washington moves to #4, well UCLA falls to #10

BRONCOS HOPES OF A NATIONAL TITLE LIKELY GONE!

Another Top-25 battle has end Boise State's hope's of playing for a National Title as the Broncos come up short (31-28) against the Seminoles of Florida State.

Trailing (28-21) going into the 4th, FSU manages to tie the game with 5 minutes to play and then kicks the game winner with 1:30 to play, as they overcome 3 INT's in the game.

BSU lost SR QB James Robbins (97 OVR) for the next 10 weeks to a Knee cartilage tear, so this loss was a double whammy for the Broncos. JR QB D. Hicks (92 OVR) took over and completed 6/12 pass's for 62 yds and a score.

#10 PITTS FALLS OUT OF TOP-25 AFTER LOSS TO FCS SCHOOL!!

The Pitt Panthers gave up 10 points in the final 3 minutes to the game as they fall (31-28) to Montana State (FCS W). The loss was so huge in the voters eyes that they dropped the Panthers from #10 to completely outside the Top-25 poll.. Ouch...

                      STANFORD SURVIVES OT!!

The Stanford Cardinals survived a OT scare as they beat New Mexico (24-17) to move to #3 in the polls and keep their hopes of a National Title game repeat alive.

                      LSU CLAIMS #1

The LSU Tigers have claimed the #1 spot with a (38-24) win over Troy, now the question is how long will they hold onto it. They face La Tech next week on the road who is off to a 2-0 start. Could they still be #1 when they face Kellen Moore and the Florida Gators in Week 7???

GATORS STAY PERFECT MOVE TO 5-0 AND #14 IN THE POLLS!!

When Kellen Moore was hired away from Colorado State after leading the Rams to a 12-1 record, Big 12 Title and Fiesta Bowl win, Gators fan's and alumni had high hopes he could turn around their program, but nobody figured he would have the instant success he has had.

Known for having one of the best passing attacks in the country the past 5 years both as the OC at Boise and HC at CSU, Moore has adapted his offensive attack to include Heisman front runner RB Karem Anderson.

The Junior RB has been in beast mode this season. In a Week 3 win over UCF, Anderson carried the ball 31 times for a season high 162 yds with 2 scores. Fellow RB J. Stewart added 2 more scores as well as the Gators dominated the Golden Knights (42-24) despite FR QB T. Campbell throwing 4 INT's.

In Week 4, Florida hosted then #22 ranked USF, but like the Knights, the Bulls had not answer for a Gator Offense averaging over 40 points a game and no answer for Anderson who continues to dominate no matter how many defenders are in the box.

With QB T. Campbell still struggling, (3 INT's to go with 204 yds and 3 TD's), Anderson once again set new season highs with 36 carries for 176 yds and 3 scores to lead Florida to the (45-17) victory.

Week 5 was a bitter sweet victory, as Coach Moore returned to the Blue turf of Boise Idaho, where he spent his college career and where he got started with his coaching career.

                            Kellen Moore
"Returning to the Blue and walking out on that turf brought back alot of great memories. I have to admit I never thought I would be on the other sideline trying to help a team beat my beloved Broncos"
Trailing (14-0) after the 1st Quarter Campbell finally got the Gators on the scoreboard with a 23 yd TD pass to D. Washington. But after a forced punt giving Flordia the ball back with less then 5 minutes to play in the half, Campbell would be forced to leave the game after taking a hard hit on a QB keeper.

With Campbell out of action it was SO QB L. Webb the season opener taking over, and with 3:50 to play Webb would find D. Holloway from 28 yd out to tie the game (14-14) throwing his first TD of the season.

A BSU INT by QB D. Hicks would setup a K. Anderson touchdown to give Florida the lead (21-14) with 1:38 to play, but Hicks would bounce back and complete a huge 72 yd bomb to set up a A. Allen 8 yd TD run to retie the game (21-21) with 58 seconds to play. But L. West showed he too could make big plays as he completes a 73 TD bomb to D. Washington to give Florida the (28-21) lead going into the locker room.

West's 3rd TD of the day came in the opening drive of the 2nd half as he hits K. Miller on a 4 yd slant play to cap off a 14 play series. After a BSU 24 yd FG, West then threw TD #4 finding Washington again to put Florida up (42-24).

The Broncos however were not willing to waive the white flag yet with 4 minutes in the game and a minute later it was Hicks finding M. Howard for a 32 yd TD strike to make it (42-30) after the failed 2pt conversion.

Leading by 12, Moore would turn back to his ground game despite team leader K. Anderson on the sideline with a bruised foot. SR J. Stewart would take over the load carrying a season high 13 times including a 4 yd score with 1 minute to play.FINAL SCORE FLORIDA-49 BOISE STATE-30

                            KEY STATS

RB K. Anderson finished with a season low 98 yds on 22 carries after not playing the 4th Quarter.

WR D. Washington continues to dominate no matter who is throwing him the ball. Washington led the team with 8 rec for 131 yds and 3 TD's.

#14 (5-0) Florida will now return home to race SEC rival #8 (4-0) Tennessee.

I am headed back out of town again this weekend for another Disc Golf tournament in Boise Idaho, so instead of recaping each game individually I will do a 3 game recap for the Colorado State program as well, and then most likely switch back to game by game recaps for the Gators vs Vol's game which I just played tonight. I will try and get both posts up in the next couple of days before I leave.

                                RAM PERFECT NO MORE!!!

Despite changing offensive playbooks with a change at Head Coach, the Colorado State Ram's continue to produce Top-10 yards and scoring in the nation, but despite big #'s CSU has struggled to put away opponents leaving most games decided late in the 4th Quarter.

CSU defeated instate rival Colorado (35-32) in Week 1 and used 2 late 3rd Quarter TD's to defeat Arizona State in Week 2 (35-31).

The Rams would go on to win their next 2 games defeating Washington State (35-31) in Week 3 and Kansas State (23-21) in Week 4 before facing Big 12 rival and Top-25 opponent #18 Oklahoma in Week 5.

Against the Cougars in Week 3, we saw the first action of backup Jakari Magnum after the Ram's lost starter A. Clayton early in the 3rd Quarter. Magnum would shine completing 7/10 pass's including 3 TD's to go with 1 late 4th Quarter INT.

With both C. Hayes limited in carries due to a sprain ankle (4 carries 22 yds) and Clayton the teams leading rusher out of the game (9 carries 60 yds), JR D. Nelson came up big with a season high 11 carries in the 4th Quarter for 89 yds.

In the Week 4 win over the Wildcats, Clayton was back running the offense completing 19/31 for 246 yds with 1 TD through the air and added another 58 yds on the ground.

                                C. Hayes returned from limited action to carry the ball a team high 13 times for 50 yds.

and the Defense came up big picking off KSU's J. Lamb 3 times to seal the victory.

In their Week 5 matchup with the Sooners, Clayton would get the Rams on the scoreboard early with a 17 yd TD pass to W. Matthews, but Oklahoma would answer back as QB M. Mitchell would find A. White on a 25 yd score to make it (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter.

Oklahoma would then take the lead (10-7) on a 31 yd FG, but CSU would answer back as Clayton hooks up with D. Flanagan on a 19 yd scoring strike to make it (14-10). The Sooners however were not done and with 2:27 to play Mitchell would keep the QB keeper and run in from 3 yds out to make it (17-14). Then after a Clayton INT, Oklahoma would tack on another 30 yd FG to make it (20-14) at the half.

CSU would hold the Sooners to a 40 yd FG to open the 2nd half (23-14) and late in the 3rd Clayton would find B. Davis on a 9 yd slant play to make it (23-21) as we head to the 4th.

A Sooner fumble would lead to the Rams taking the lead early in the 4th as C. Hayes scores from 2 yds out. Up 27-23, CSU would decide to go for 2pt and Clayton would convert keeping the ball himself and diving in over 2 defenders making it (29-23) with 7 minutes to play.

A failed conversion on 4th and 4 inside the 20 by Oklahoma would give CSU the ball back with 4 minutes to play in the game. But the Rams fail to move the ball and are forced to punt the ball back to Oklahoma with 3 minutes to play.

This time Oklahoma would make the Ram's pay as T. Anderson scores with 46 seconds to play giving the Sooners the (30-29) lead.

Clayton would have 1 more chance to put his team in FG range, but on 3rd and 8 Clayton's pass bounces off the hands of TE S. Romero and into the Sooners Defense. FINAL SCORE OKLAHOMA-30 COLORADO STATE-29
