Prologue

The year is 2027.

After leading Tulane for a long and mostly successful 17-year period, veteran head coach D. Geezy saw his time in New Orleans come to an abrupt end following a strong yet ultimately disappointing 10-4 campaign in 2026, a season that included a heartbreaking 38-24 defeat at the hands of Florida in the SEC Championship Game, a loss that reportedly may have directly cost him his job.

After building Tulane's abysmal football program into a SEC juggernaut, legendary head coach D. Geezy will now march to Baton Rouge in hopes of bringing LSU's program back to championship glory while also hoping to restore the Tigers as Louisiana's team.

During his time in New Orleans, aside from successfully getting Tulane back into the SEC in 2014 following a 48-year hiatus, Geezy guided the Green Wave to two national championships in 2016 and 2018, along with six SEC championships over the span of seven seasons from 2015 to 2021. However, following that amazing run that was without a doubt the Golden Age of Tulane football, Geezy's squad failed to win another title of any sort over the course of the next five seasons, ultimately leading to a contract impasse and his subsequent departure.

Meanwhile, approximately 80 miles down I-10 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, LSU watched its in-state rival Tulane from afar in envy as Geezy guided the Wave to multiple titles while also knocking off the Tigers each of the past 10 times the two schools have met in their annual "Battle for the Rag" rivalry game, firmly establishing the Green Wave as Louisiana's premiere college football team in sudden, stunning fashion.

Since winning the 2007 BCS National Championship exactly 20 seasons ago, the Tigers' football program has become stuck in a spell of mediocrity, finishing with one average season after another while failing to win the Southeastern Conference even one time over the past two decades. Furthermore, the team has also failed to achieve double-digit wins for six consecutive seasons and counting and has inexplicably finished unranked each of the past four years. Now, after successfully pilfering the now-legendary coach Geezy from their in-state rivals with a mega-contract offer he could not refuse, the Tigers hope to get their football program back to prominence.

Feeling shunned by the program that he built from the ground up, Geezy will now look to help reestablish LSU's rightful place as the king of Louisiana college football, while also hoping to get back to his own championship-winning ways and create a long-lasting image of himself as one of the all-time greats of college football coaching.

This is a story about redemption...this is a story about LEGACY.

Mission Statement

Many of you will be happy to know that I am not going to let this Part III mission statement be nearly as long-winded as the one I penned back in July of 2015. The situation here is simple - We are heading into year 18 of a dynasty I started years ago and, after 17 seasons with Tulane, I will be taking my talents to LSU after the Green Wave elected not to offer my user-coach, Coach Geezy, a contract extension following the 2026 season.

For those of you that don't know the full background - I started this dynasty report project all the way back in July of 2010 on a now-defunct website called Digital Sports Scene. After playing 9 full seasons over the course of a calendar year (Part I), I took about a four year break from this story before coming back with Part II in July of 2015 here at Operation Sports.

When I first began the Part II project, the intent was for it to last about 3 to 4 seasons, played over the course of a calendar year. Little did I know that after 8 seasons and about 3 1/2 years of real-time, I'd still be playing this dynasty to this day. I truly felt that with Tulane, I could have played this dynasty for at least another 3 or 4 seasons, maybe even more; however in a heartbreaker, that dream was cut short when Coach Geezy's contract expired at the end of year 17 and he was not offered an extension. As the saying goes "All good things must come to an end," but the hope is that this forced school change brings new energy to this project and we end up seeing this thing go even deeper into the future than anticipated.

So here we are, set to start the latest and final chapter of this trilogy saga, with the main setting just a few miles down the road from New Orleans in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. For those of you that have been following since the beginning, the hope is that you will find this last chapter as rewarding as the first two, and events from the past will certainly play a role in the upcoming future.

Our story will begin at the start of the 2027 off-season, with both Coach Geezy and the LSU football program looking to restore their past glory. There will be plenty of familiarity for readers, with this dynasty continuing in the SEC. There will be one particular familiar foe for Coach Geezy at the top of the conference that his team is trying to catch - Alabama, along with a whole new SEC West nemisis he will now need to try to figure out how to navigate past - Tulane.

I plan for this to last at least 4 or 5 seasons, but as I learned on my previous project, there is no use in placing any firm timelines on myself. I will just take it one season at a time and see where this story brings us.

Rosters: This dynasty began with using OperationSports.com's Community Rosters, released on July 15th, 2010, with minor corrections to Tulane's original 2010 roster. However, with this dynasty now heading into season 18, all players are now fictional, game-generated characters.

Penalty Sliders: Offsides turned down to 30, False Start turned down to 45, Holding turned up to 55, Facemask turned down to 30, Roughing the Passer turned down to 25, and Roughing the Kicker turned down to 25. Everything else is set to default.

Tuner Sets: Tuner set 1 downloaded just prior to the start of 2011 season.


All LSU games will be played; No simming is allowed


Gameplay Strategy/Rules

Offensive Playbook: Texas A&M (2027), Ole Miss (2028-present)

Defensive Playbook: 4-2-5 (2027-present)

- An effort must be made to utilize my entire playbook offensively.

- DE & DT Sub-Out set to 70, QB Sub-Out set to 0, OL Sub-Out set to 0, OL Sub-In set to 60, WR Sub-In set to 75, CB Sub-In set to 75, S Sub-In set to 75. Everything else is set to default (60 Sub Out and 80 Sub In).

- Any non-quarterback that sustains a minor injury must sit out the amount of time the game determines they must take before becoming 100% healed. Only in the fourth quarter can I choose to play an injured, non-QB player.

- Like the CPU, the "conservative" game plan can only be used in the final 3 minutes of the game. This rule also includes draining the play-clock down to :01 before snapping the ball, unless the game is well out of hand and in the fourth quarter (25+ point lead) or when nursing the ball before halftime.

- Only kickers can be used at the PK position and only punters can be used at the P position. Either the kicker or punter may play at the KOS position.

- I may not "free roam" with a defensive player pre-snap. I must line up where the CPU aligns me (or brings me to) and stay there until the ball is snapped unless the player is a blitzer.

- If the CPU attempts an absurdly long field goal, I.E. from 55+ yards away, I must pick the play "FG Return" on defense, catch the ball, and bring it out to the 20-yard line and step out of bounds. I may only use a true field goal return at the end of a half or end of the game (field goal attempt with less than :20 to go in either half).

- On defense, I must play with any defensive lineman for 1 quarter, any linebacker for 1 quarter, any defensive back for 1 quarter, and then any defensive player for 1 quarter. It is completely my discretion each game as to who I will use and when.


Recruiting Rules

This game has demonstrated a more than acceptable amount of a challenge in this area, so I will not place any rules or restrictions on myself. I will continue to rely solely on the game's Heisman recruiting difficulty level to prohibit me from building my team in an unrealistic fashion. With that said, I will make every effort to recruit in a realistic fashion for a school of LSU's current prestige level at all times.


Players Leaving

- No player will be stopped from leaving LSU early.

- No players can be cut.


Transfer Requests

- Any and all transfer requests will be accepted whether it is a player leaving or a player wanting to transfer to LSU.


Scheduling Rules

- There is an existing real life football contract between LSU and Oklahoma. The Tigers will travel to Norman in 2027 and the Sooners will come to Baton Rouge in 2028.

- There is an existing real life football contract between LSU and Arizona St. The Tigers will host the Sun Devils in Baton Rouge in 2029, and will travel to Tempe in 2030.

- Other than the two pre-existing contracts above, there will be no restrictions, however the goal will be to keep things as realistic as possible, but also challenging.

History

Tiger Stadium, popularly known as Death Valley, is an outdoor stadium located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on the campus of Louisiana State University. It is the home stadium of the LSU Tigers football team. Prior to 1924, LSU played its home games at State Field, which was located on the old LSU campus in Downtown Baton Rouge.

Tiger Stadium opened with a capacity of 12,000 in 1924. Renovations and expansions have brought the stadium's current capacity to 102,321, making it the third largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), sixth largest stadium in the NCAA, and the seventh largest stadium in the world.

Tiger Stadium is well known nationally for having among the best game day atmospheres in college football as well as being one of the most difficult places for an opposing team to play.

Despite being 14–2 at Tiger Stadium, famed Alabama head coach Bear Bryant once remarked that "Baton Rouge happens to be the worst place in the world for a visiting team. It's like being inside a drum." In 2001, ESPN sideline reporter Adrian Karsten said, "Death Valley in Baton Rouge is the loudest stadium I've ever been in." In 2002, (Ohio) coach Terry Hoeppner said of Tiger Stadium, "That's as exciting an environment as you can have ... we had communication problems we haven't had at Michigan and Ohio State." In 2003, ESPN's Chris Fowler called LSU his favorite game day experience. In 2009 former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee stated on Sean Hannity's Fox News show that "Unfair is playing LSU on a Saturday night in Baton Rouge."

Survey after survey has concluded that Tiger Stadium is the most difficult place for a visiting team to play, including surveys by the College Football Association in 1987, The Sporting News in 1989, Gannett News Service in 1995, and Sport Magazine in 1998. More recently, in 2007, ESPN named Tiger Stadium "the scariest place to play", saying that "Tiger Stadium is, by far, the loudest stadium in the country."

In 2009, ESPN writer Chris Low listed Tiger Stadium's Saturday night atmosphere as unsurpassed in the country, ranking it No. 1 out of the conference's 12 stadiums. In 2016, Tiger Stadium was again ranked No. 1 out of the conference's stadiums by USA Today writers Laken Litman & Steven Ruiz.

LSU prefers night games in Tiger Stadium with its opponents, but television coverage requires that many contests be played in the afternoons. The university is conflicted between maximizing its potential to win and needed advertising revenues from television coverage. As explained by Chet Hilburn in The Mystique of Tiger Stadium: 25 Greatest Games: The Ascension of LSU Football, "The Tigers are apt to win more games at night in Tiger Stadium but the university takes in much more revenue for a day game televised by CBS because of the Southeastern Conference contract with the network is so lucrative."

In 2008, as Alabama narrowly defeated LSU, Wright Thompson of ESPN.com described Tiger Stadium as "the best place in the world to watch a sporting event."

In 2013, the NCAA ranked Tiger Stadium as the loudest stadium in all of college football.

The LSU Tigers have turned to former Tulane head coach and arch-nemisis D. Geezy to help lead them out of the abyss of mediocrity.

Baton Rouge, LA -- "If you can't beat 'em, take 'em," said LSU athletic director Joe Alleva at Thursday's press conference. Less than a week after it was announced that free agent head coach D. Geezy would not be returning to Tulane for an 18th season, the two-time national champion head coach has found a new home in somewhat familiar surroundings, agreeing to terms on a three-year contract with Green Wave in-state rival LSU. The deal will reportedly pay Geezy $14.5 million per season, making him the second highest paid head coach in college football behind only legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

It has been 20 years since LSU last won a national championship or even a conference title. The Tigers' will now turn to former rival head coach D. Geezy to help them return to championship glory and also help restore them as Louisiana's premiere college football program.

"Not going to lie, this feels very weird, after viewing LSU as a rival all these years and now jumping the fence to their side," said Geezy at his introductory press conference Thursday afternoon, as he stood surrounded by local and national media as well as fans allowed into the media room.

According to multiple sources, Geezy had several different options to choose from, including offers from North Carolina St., Texas Tech, East Carolina, as well as a reported NFL offer, but in the end, decided that home is where the heart is.

"Baton Rouge is literally about a 70 to 80 minute drive from the Superdome, and being in my home state is very important to both myself and my family," said Geezy, who sources indicate only wanted a 3-year deal after getting locked-in to a 10-year, $50 million contract in 2016 which quickly became an under-market deal just a few years into the agreement.

The six-time SEC champion head coach inherits a Tigers team that has been under a spell of mediocrity for quite some time. Aside from failing to win either a conference title or national title in the past 20 seasons, the team has finished unranked six of the last eight seasons, including each of the last four. The Tigers went 8-5 in 2026, however four of their wins came against non-conference opponents Louisiana Tech, Troy, North Texas, and UL-Lafayette, as the team finished just 3-5 in SEC play. Furthermore, LSU has lost to SEC West powers Alabama and Tulane a whopping 10 consecutive years each. From Les Miles, to Ed Orgeron, to Dave Aranda, and back to Les Miles again, the Tigers have failed to recapture the magic the storied program once had two decades ago, however Geezy believes that the foundation could be in place for the program to have a quick turnaround.

Known as "White Mike" to his teammates due to his similar attributes to former college and NFL star QB Michael Vick, lefty QB Rob Mason is a player Geezy is familiar with, as the head coach recruited him very hard at Tulane and studied him closely as an opponent each of the past two seasons.

"QB Rob Mason is certainly a player that sticks out to me as someone I am excited to work with," said Geezy of the to-be junior quarterback that Tulane once recruited. "We spent a lot of time on him as a staff during the evaluation process a few years back and he is also a player that I personally spent a ton of time on both recruiting him and studying him as an opponent. He's done well up to this point, but there is still a ton of room for growth there, both as a passer and as a runner.

"We have to get his TD to INT ratio to the next level after last year's 29 touchdown, 13 interception effort. We saw a lot of growth there last year with (Tulane quarterback) Jimmy McBride and we'd like to see a similar leap in the fall for Rob with him heading into year 3 as a starter.

"We will also get very creative in how we get him into space in order to take advantage of his athleticism."

But still though, despite inheriting a quarterback with 4.48 speed, Geezy knows that the dominating in the trenches is what matters most.

"One of the areas I thought we did a good job at during our title runs at Tulane was addressing both lines and keeping those two areas stacked with talent," said Geezy, who will celebrate his 47th birthday on January 21st, one week from today. "I thought we failed to deliver there in the latter years and that made things difficult for us to compete with the Alabamas of the world, and more importantly, it made it difficult for us to win conference and national titles.

"Speaking with Joe (Allevia) I think that became a point of emphasis here recently and the previous regime has done a good job with getting a handful of very good young 4-star offensive linemen set to join the roster as freshmen, and the defensive line is also looking very solid on film with some good veterans returning. You're going to see this as a major point of emphasis moving forward."

In the two schools' annual "Battle for the Rag" rivalry game, Tulane has knocked off LSU 10 consecutive times dating back to 2017 season; Coach Geezy will now hope to help turn the tide on the Green Wave dominance that he was responsible for creating.

During Geezy's time at Tulane, the school's football program experienced a level of unprecedented success. After winning two Conference USA titles under Geezy, the team's move back to the SEC in 2014 following a 48-year hiatus sparked the Green Wave's upward ascension into the ranks of college football's elite. The team won its first SEC title in 2015 and would go on to win six total Southeastern conference titles over the course of seven seasons from 2015-2021, a conference most observers consider to be college football's best. The pinnacle of the Green Wave's success came during the 2016-2018 seasons, when the squad made three consecutive BCS National Championship Game appearances, winning the title matchups in 2016 and 2018. However, following a current run of five consecutive non-conference title winning seasons, the university decided to part ways with its long-time head coach after not being able to come to an agreement on dollar value.

"I'd be lying to say that getting to play Tulane every year did not weigh on my decision," said Geezy, who admitted that he's anxious to face the Green Wave at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this upcoming season, who as previously mentioned, have defeated the Tigers in ten straight meetings while under Geezy's leadership.

"Payback is certaintly on the mind, but aside from that, I am just really excited to get to work and to help get this program back to the level it was once at. No disrespect to Tulane, but you can literally feel it in your veins and in the air when you walk onto this campus or walk into Tiger Stadium that this is something bigger, more meaningful than anything we ever had or could ever achieve at Tulane, even in those title years; you just know it and feel it that you're going to be under a much bigger microscope week-in and week-out at a program like this. Despite the run of lack of success here at LSU and the resurgence we had in New Orleans, you know through-and-through that this state craves seeing the Tigers being a contender again, and I intend to deliver just that, in addition to ending the losing streak against Tulane.

"Oh and when we do beat Tulane, you best believe that our band will be playing 'Neck'...go Tigers!!!," Geezy exclaimed just before walking off the podium to a sudden burst of loud cheers from LSU fans at the news conference.

I'm ecstatic to see your dynasty continue, reading your reports as always makes me want to keep my own work going and move on from a offensive coordinator position to a head coaching job. I love the decision to go to LSU, not being that far from New Orleans and remaining in the SEC carries so many storylines with it. Like you mentioned, having to see Alabama and Tulane every year is going to make for some big games. Looking forward to see how Part III plays out.
