WASHINGTON REDSKINS: Quarterback Robert Griffin III to miss 8 Weeks with Arm Fracture.. Head Coach Jay Gruden announces demotion..

          10/18/15

          Written by: Adam Schefter

The Washington Redskins have announced that Quarterback Robert Griffin III will miss the next 8 games after suffering a Arm Fracture in today's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Robert (Griffin) is hurt and will miss the next 2 months from what our Team's Medical Staff has told me. We all feel for Robert and love him but with his recent history over the past 2 years, we feel it's best to bench him for awhile and to go with our other Quarterbacks we have. We feel some time away from the Football Field will be very helpful for him. When he's ready to play we're gonna keep him on the bench until we feel like he can be focused and be healthy and not get hurt again." Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden stated.

RG3 has spent majority of the 2014 and 2015 campaigns on the Injured Reserve list.

It appears his time as the Franchise QB may be coming to an end as Washington has benched RG3 due to injury and poor play.

"It's not just one reason." Gruden added. "He's had some bad luck with these injuries and the terrible play over the past Season and a half has been a factor. We all love Robert but feel some time away from the Field may do him some good."

Washington sits at 1-4 on the young campaign..

Locker's Game Winning Drive sends TITANS over BROWNS 28-24 as time expires in the Music City!

            RECAP

Nashville, TN- The Tennessee Titans(3-2) got some redemption over the Cleveland Browns(4-2) on Sunday with a 28-24 victory at LP Field.

"This was a great win for us." Titans Quarterback Jake Locker stated. "Cleveland is a tough Team so for us to get a little payback on them was nice. We may have to see them later on again but for now this win was huge."

The Titans lost to the Browns in the AFC Divisional Round last January that snapped their 11 Game Winning Streak after starting the 2014 Season with a 1-4 Record.

Locker threw 382 yards, 2 Touchdowns, and a Interception. Johnny Manziel continues to make a case for himself as MVP throwing for 261 yards and 3 Touchdowns with no interceptions.

Manziel now has 17 Touchdowns with no interceptions and 1,623 yards. MVP?

"Absolutely the MVP. That's my guy." Browns WR Josh Gordon stated. Gordon had 1 catch for 65 yards and a Touchdown.

"The way Johnny's been playing for us there's absolutely no way he shouldn't be MVP. He's come a long way from last year. The way he commands the huddle and our Offense. He's our MVP regardless." Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine stated.

Tennessee(3-2) did their best to contain Manziel as they raced out to a 14-0 halftime lead. Manziel fumbled and Titans Safety Bernard Pollard scooped it up and ran it back 71 yards to send the Titans into halftime up 14-0.

"I thought that first half of Football was pretty solid for us. They came back in the second half and we knew we had to be better. Cleveland is a tough Team so for us to get the win today in front of our fans was a good thing for us." Titans Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt stated.

Cleveland(4-2) came back in the Second half with Touchdown Passes by Johnny Manziel and the Browns tied it at 14-14.

Titans RB Shonn Greene punched it in for the lead before Cleveland tied it back up at 21 all late in the 4th Quarter. Greene finished with 97 yards and a Score. Browns Terrence West had 85 yards but caught one of Manziel's Touchdowns.

Tied at 21, Locker led Tennessee down where a pass to Delanie Walker was tipped and intercepted by Cleveland's LB Ryan Jones. The Browns were held to just a Field Goal as Cleveland took the lead 24-21 with just 46 seconds left in the Game.

With no Timeouts, Jake Locker led the Titans down on an epic Game Winning Drive finding Delanie Walker in the End Zone as time expired.

              Game Notes
The St. Louis Rams are a complete dumpster fire right now as they're off to a 0-5 start. Doesn't help that Sam Bradford is injured again and has been placed on IR. Head Coach Jeff Fisher's job is safe as the Rams Organization has no plans to remove him. With 2 QBs already on the shelf for the Season Fisher should be handed a pass regardless as his Quarterback situation is a mess right now. Carolina is looking to rebound after falling to the New York Giants on Thursday Night last week.

RAMS are ran over by PANTHERS in 33-3 loss...

                RECAP

St. Louis, MO- Jeff Fisher stood at the podium with a look of defeat on his face.

                "Rough loss today." He stated.

The St. Louis Rams(0-6) continue to sink in 2015 with Sam Bradford and Matt Simms on IR.

"We're just inconsistent on all sides of the ball. We're not taking what we learn in practice and keeping it on the field on Gamedays. Rough year for us but there's plenty of time to try and get better results." Fisher added.

Quarterback Garrett Gilbert struggled in the blowout loss today and was benched at halftime for Rookie Jared Goff.

Gilbert struggled bad against the Carolina Panthers(4-2) and had just 43 yards and a Interception by the time he was benched heading into the 3rd Quarter. His Passer Rating was 10.1.

The Rams(0-6) turned to Jared Goff who didn't fare much better against the Panthers Defense.

Goff had just 65 yards with an Interception and a Passer Rating of 18.5. Zac Stacy's 101 yards on the ground was the only highlight of the day inside the Edward Jones Dome.

Carolina(4-2) rushed all over the Rams today with Cam Newton picking up 80 yards, Jonathan Stewart rushing for 2 Touchdowns, and Rookie Dematrae Boatwright picking up 122 yards to make a case for himself as Rookie of the year. Newton also had 144 yards and a Touchdown pass to Greg Olson.

LIONS win 4th straight with 35-7 crushing over FALCONS...

                  RECAP

Atlanta, GA- The Detroit Lions(4-1) are finding their identity in 2015.

After a 41-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Opening Sunday, the Lions have rattled off 4 straight wins to sit in First Place in the NFC North.

"It's been about believing in the system and each other." Lions Head Coach Jim Caldwell stated.

Caldwell's first year in the Motor City last year resulted in a 6-10 finish.

"It's something he's been preaching since last year and the guys are really starting to buy into it." Lions QB Matthew Stafford said.

Detroit(4-1) bought in today with their 35-7 blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons(1-5).

"We're still a long way from where we want to be." Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn stated. "It's a season of building and learning for us."

Matthew Stafford had 334 yards, 2 Touchdowns, and a pick. Running Backs Andrew Hale and Zach Zenner combined for 195 yards and 2 Touchdowns as they continue to breath life into the Lions backfield while Reggie Bush is on the shelf.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan struggled today finishing with just 89 yards and a Touchdown. On the first play of the 4th Quarter, Ryan took a sack by Lions Defensive Lineman Keith Brunner and injured his ribs.

He is cleared to play next week. Atlanta(1-5) trotted out backup QB Sean Renfree who had 41 yards and a pick.

His pass was picked off in the endzone by Lions Buster Skrine. Detroit had 491 yards of Offense while the Falcons stumbled to just 116.

Rodgers returns...Leads PACKERS over SAINTS 31-9...

                    RECAP

New Orleans, LA- In a Week 1 blowout Win over the Denver Broncos, Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his thumb on his throwing hand when he took a hit from Broncos Defensive star Von Miller. Rodgers left at halftime and didn't take the field again after the injury.

He needed a minor surgery and the Packers turned to Joe Callahan, Colby Cameron, Josh Hoag, etc at QB.

Green Bay(3-3) was able to keep their heads above water despite a 3 game skid after the Broncos Game. Green Bay lost to Detroit, Minnesota, and Arizona before beating the Philadelphia Eagles last week at Lambeau.

Today inside the Mercedes Benz SuperDome, the Packers(3-3) welcomed back Aaron Rodgers for another showdown with Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints(2-4).

Green Bay didn't skip a beat in Rodgers return racking up 545 yards of Offense as Rodgers threw 303 yards and 3 Touchdowns showing the world there's nothing wrong with his throwing thumb.

"Felt great to be back out there today. My thumb is great and i'm excited to get back to work as we try to make a run now. Being 3-3 aint bad but there's not much room left for error now." Rodgers stated.

"Great to have him back with us. We fire on all cylinders with 12 back there." Packers Head Coach Joe Philbin stated.

And Green Bay(3-3) did fire on all cylinders. Eddie Lacy rushed for 161 yards, Rodgers had 42 yards and a Touchdown, Jordy Nelson had 13 catches for 168 yards and a Touchdown.

New Orleans(2-4) never found the End Zone being held to just 3 Field Goals. Drew Brees had 206 yards with a interception as the Saints finished with just 257 yards of Offense.

"Rough day for us but thats what happens when you go up against Aaron Rodgers." Saints Head Coach Sean Payton stated.

It only happens every 4 years when a AFC Division plays a NFC Division and rotates. Today the Steelers will head to Levi's Stadium for a huge matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. Last time these two met was back on December 19, 2011 and it was a bad performance for Big Ben and Company. Roethlisberger threw 3 picks as the 9ers rolled to a 20-3 victory at Candlestick Park. Alex Smith was QB for SF so today Colin Kaepernick will look to go up against Big Ben. The Steelers are on a redemption path it seems this year after failing to make the Playoffs last year with a 8-8 Record.

                          RECAP

Santa Clara, CA- Colin Kaepernick was all smiles today after the San Francisco 49ers(4-1) defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers(5-1) 28-24 and handed the Steelers their first loss of the year.

"Had a nice streak there and it's hard to go undefeated all year long. San Francisco is a tough Team and well coached with a explosive Quarterback." Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin stated.

Kaepernick threw 223 yards, 1 Touchdown, and a pick as San Francisco(4-1) continue to chase the Arizona Cardinals for the Division lead.

Ben Roethlisberger had 293 yards, 2 Touchdowns, and a interception. It was a game for the ages as the Steelers took a 14-13 halftime lead. 9ers RB Frank Gore had 97 yards and 2 Touchdowns as Le'Veon Bell countered with 95 yards and a Touchdown of his own.

Both of "Big Ben's" TDs were to WR CJ Miller and Kaepernicks Touchdown was to Jerry Rice JR. Zach Hocker kicked 2 Field Goals for San Francisco.

Pittsburgh held on to a 24-21 lead late in the 4th Quarter until Kaepernick led a 4th Quarter Comeback where Frank Gore crossed the goalline for his 2nd Touchdown of the Game.

Vic Fangio's Defense held Roethlisberger's potential Game Winning Drive to secure the win.

                              ~~THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL~~

Week 7 kicks off with a huge Game for First Place in the AFC South. Back in Week 3 the Colts beat the Titans 38-34 in Nashville. If Tennessee can get some redemption tonight then the Titans will take over the division. But if Indy sweeps their Rival they sit in First Place. The Colts are on a tough 3 game slide after winning their first 3 games.
Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck is making a case for himself as "Comeback Player of the Year" as the Franchise Quarterback has 14 Touchdowns, 3 interceptions, for 1,838 yards.
Indianapolis lost on Sunday in Denver 27-24 to the Broncos. The Titans knocked off the Browns 38-34 on a epic Game Winning Drive by Jake Locker.
