    2020 USF Bulls football preview: Good luck to opposing offenses against this secondary
    Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

    In terms of production last season, a solid argument could be made that no other unit in America was as productive as the cornerback room for USF. All four corners that played last season received preseason all-conference honors, quite a feat when you consider that the safeties, Trey Davis and Chip Bryant, might be the most talented ones in what is a loaded, loaded secondary.

    A look at USF’s defensive back situation:

    Projected depth chart
    CB - #2 Bradley Bentley, Sr. :: #24 Ben Lewis, So.
    CB - #22 Marcus Hines, So. :: #19 Michael Walker, Jr.
    NICKEL - #21 Michael Bush, Sr.
    S - #3 Trey Davis, Jr. :: #23 Carl Rodriguez, Sr. :: #28 Brandon Burns, Fr. :: #35 Chris Wade, Fr.
    S - #5 Chip Bryant, Jr. :: #17 Sam Peterson, Fr. :: #20 Pierre Hodge, Fr.

    Expected starters:
    CB #2 Bradley Bentley, Sr. | 6'2", 173lbs | 85 ovr, 93 spd, 92 acc, 90 mcv, 91 zcv
    CB #22 Marcus Hines, So. | 6'2", 175lbs | 85 ovr, 97 spd, 91 acc, 91 mcv, 89 zcv
    NICKEL #21 Michael Bush, Sr. | 6'1", 173lbs | 83 ovr, 95 spd, 86 acc, 89 mcv, 93 zcv
    S #3 Trey Davis, Jr. | 6'1", 188lbs | 90 ovr, 91 spd, 91 acc, 72 tkl, 94 mcv, 93 zcv
    S #5 Chip Bryant, Jr. | 5'11", 181lbs | 89 ovr, 91 spd, 91 acc, 84 tkl, 79 mcv, 84 zcv

    Major storyline: The only unit on the team to bring back literally every single player that played last season, the new addition to keep an eye on is freshman Sam Peterson due to his athleticism.

        Bulls finally get their big body receiver as Ohio's Bright commit to the Bulls
        Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

        There is no shortage of shifty, speedy receivers in the state of Florida. When it comes to a big body outside receiver though, it may be best to go out of the state and the Bulls did just that.

        USF opened the 2021 class with commitments from 4-star out of state prospects in six-foot-six Ben Bright out of Portage Lakes, Ohio and Alabama defensive tackle Daniel Elliott along with three-star DT Josh Brown out of Pennsylvania.

        Bright has all the physical tools you want in a receiver and brings a different aspect to the WR room that the Bulls simply do not have right now. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to make an impact early on but should be able to get on the field in redzone, jump ball situations.

        Elliott is the more athletic of the two defensive tackles while both of them project to be good scheme fits for USF's defense which puts a premium on defensive tackles that are able to get upfield and assist in pass rushing situations.

        2021 USF Recruiting Class

                        USF will host the top two recruits in the country this weekend, can they strike gold?
                        Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

                        USF has had a lot of recruiting success over the last few years, so much so that their top-25 recruiting class from last season was considered a down year. If the Bulls are going to climb back into the top five, this weekend will have a lot to do with it.

                        The number one and number two ranked players in the country -- William Stone and Andrew Vincent -- will be on campus for official visits as the Bulls take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. It'll be a big weekend for recruits as 4-star C Joel Dixon will also be there along with 4-star DT Jeremy Daniels, 3-star T Jimmie Hurd, 4-star S Edgar Thompson, 4-star ATH Brad Jones, 3-star T Charles Joseph, 3-star CB Dan Ross and 3-star DE Dale Bolen.

                        USF is "in a really good place" with Vincent while Stone is more of a battle as the Miami product has long been considered a lock to the University of Miami. The Bulls have made some progress with Stone and getting both him and Vincent in the same recruiting class would set the tone early.

                        The Bulls are also now recruiting California quarterback Mike McFarland, the top rated passer in this year's recruiting class. They offered McFarland a few weeks ago and McFarland has been in a heavy contact with the Bulls coaching staff.

                        Another name to be on the lookout for is three-star CB Ronnie Gay out of Round Rock, Texas. USF has yet to offer the six-foot-three corner with 4.36 speed but an offer is expected to come very soon.

                                Vincent and three others commit over the weekend to hand USF yet another five-star
                                Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

                                The streak will continue. For the fourth straight recruiting class, USF will have a five-star recruit.

                                Former Cardinal Gibbons wide receiver and current IMG Academy attendee Andrew Vincent has committed to the Bulls. The six-foot, 178 pound receiver chose USF over the likes of Ohio State and Wisconsin in what was a runaway victory for the Bulls.

                                USF also got commitments from four-star center Joel Dixon and two three-star tackles in Jimmie Hurd and Joel Dixon. After landing two premier offensive linemen last season that are starting this season, USF fans should adjust their expectations for this trio. They give USF some depth at the position but are more projects with the expectations being that they will sit behind the current starters for a few seasons before seeing the field.

                                That won't be the case for Vincent, who expects to be a day one contributor and potential starter due to his speed. USF would love to pair him at receiver with William Stone, who was on campus this weekend as well but did not commit.
