Re: #SWARM - RELOADED
Of players I've actually played with yeah, but when I simmed 5 years we had a crazy good 3 star gem QB who threw for over 10k yards in 3 years of play. I'm planning on throwing it more starting next season, 30-35 times a game so maybe he can go crazy. New look AAC is gonna be tough though, definitely gonna see some good squads. Appreciate the comment bro!

Tough loss there, really impressive fourth quarter comeback, but your D just can't seem to make a late game stop when you get in those tight battles. Has happened a couple of times now this season!Check out my Pitt Panthers Dynasty (NCAA Football 14)

Hey Coach, tough loss but a really good job getting 3 wins before that. Front 7 definitely struggled, and I have Nick Watts to help with that.
Watts is looking at us, Kent State and LSU. We can offer him playing time, whereas LSU can't guarantee he'll ever see the field much.
I think Jeremy Watson can help this team in some capacity, 6'3, 230 running a sub 4.4 is always a good thing. Maybe even move him to safety, I'm shocked no one has tried that.
Danny Patrick would probably be our dime corner next season. Flawed player, but a lot of potential.
A few notes:
- Isiah Mills (3*, JUCO JR, #102 CB) has pulled his verbal commit and is now considering going to FSU, as well as Troy. He has scheduled visits with both of them. He visits us last, in week 14.
- Kevin Campbell (3*, JUCO JR, #67 ATH) has opened up his recruiting as well, he's lightly considering New Mexico.
- Stevie Hodge (3*, #24 DT) is deciding between us, OU, and Purdue. Going to be tough to grab him.Last edited by young22; 07-26-2020, 02:02 PM.Comment

Re: #SWARM - RELOADED
Report by Isaac Robinson - November 4th, 2018
Tale of 2 halves as Swarm fall 43-28
Swarm throw for under 20 yards, go scoreless in second half -- Must now win last 2 games to make a bowl -- 4 picks on each side
Chris Barnett runs for 24 yards. This kickstarted the drive that would end in what proved to be the game-winning score.
Westlake, OH -- Well, this one was interesting at least. I don't know if I've ever seen a QB throw 4 picks and come out with the win. But Anthony Lawson did just that, throwing for 315, a score, and 4 picks as his Arkansas State Red Wolves took down Westlake State 43-28 on a chilly night in Westlake.
It was very back and forth all first half, as Lawson showed he wasn't afraid to attack downfield, finding true freshman tight end Thomas Adkins for 17, then 2 plays later finding Robbie Hansen for 30 yards. Alex Harrison would punch it in from the goal line a few plays later to give the Red Wolves a 7-0 lead.
The teams exchanged punts, and then some solid running (and Robert Coley making a catch all over star corner Randy Walker) got the Swarm into Arkansas State territory, where B.J. Henderson made a great throw to Josh Roach for 16 yards before he'd find the endzone himself a couple plays later.
Great grab here from Coley
Westlake State picked off Lawson for the first time on the ensuing drive, as Lawson looked deep for Adkins downfield, but Shannon Wilkinson read it perfectly and made the interception. Westlake State would take the lead on a 10 play, 68 yard drive that Johnny Nash capped off, powering his way into the endzone from 3 yards out.
An Arkansas State field goal and a Westlake State punt brings us to INT #2 from Lawson, as Andy Davenport jumped in front of a pass and would take it all the way back to put his team up 21-10. But Lawson is a gunslinger, and gunslingers never lose confidence, as he led his team back downfield, racking up 5 completions for 71 yards and his lone passing TD on the night to make it 21-17 with 1:30 to go in the half.
Andy Davenport celebrates his first career TD
This might be the wildest 1:30 of the season. B.J. Henderson threw a questionable INT to linebacker T.J. Hancock, and Lawson would complete a pass to a wide open Alfred May, beating the blitz for 47 yards. Lawson was unlucky not to get credit for the score, as May went down about 6 inches outside of the endzone. Fullback Russell Cowan punched it in with 32 seconds to go in the half.
This ball has to be better placed from Henderson
May catches the deep ball
Believe it or not, the Swarm would score. Eric Monroe beat his man downfield and caught a pass for 38 yards, Westlake State called a timeout, then on the very next play Henderson found Robert Coley inside the 5, and it was Henderson's turn to be robbed of a passing score as Coley went down just a few inches shy of the score. Johnny Nash punched it in again, making it 28-24 for Westlake State at the half.
Henderson looks deep to Coley
At this point, Henderson was 12/18 for 158 yards and a pick. Keep in mind, this pass D came in allowing just 162 yards a game on the season. They must have remembered that in the second half, as all of a sudden Henderson was under constant pressure with no one open, and Westlake State had to punt.
The speedy Chris Barnett entered the game on the next drive, and promptly ran for 24, then 12, then 6 before a facemask call on the next play would set up a 5 yard run by Lawson for the TD. Arkansas State had taken a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. Henderson threw the 2nd of 3 interceptions on the ensuing drive, as he was sacked to force a 2nd and long, and he tried to force it in to Kevin Sykes on a curl. Randy Walker was all over it, and the senior had his 7th pick of the season. He nearly took it back for 6, evading defenders before finally being shoved out at the 5.
Walker picks off B.J.
Westlake State's defense held up nicely, allowing just a field goal, but on the very first play of their next drive, the ball slipped as Henderson threw it, and he threw a terrible interception, T.J. Hancock's second of the day.
That was it, really. The Swarm couldn't get anything going the rest of the way, and really neither could Arkansas State, as Lawson would throw 2 more picks and lead just one more touchdown drive, finished off by senior tailback Willie Jones, who had 47 yards and a score on 8 carries in his return from a quad injury.
Willie Jones gets into the endzone
Stan Jones got to play near the end, and he got in on the action, overthrowing Sykes downfield for another INT.
Dion Barkley had nothing but praise for his team after the game.
Originally posted by Dion BarkleyI think we played well. That team has 2 future NFL starters at corner, it was only a matter of time before they turned up. No one was open in the second half, B.J. has that tendency to press and make errors. We picked off Lawson 4 times too, I'm proud of the team to be honest. I don't think this is a terrible loss.
The Swarm will travel down South, and take on 4-5 Memphis next week.
Freshman Thomas Adkins had his first career 100 yard game
The Swarm's 4 picks. The last from from Wilson (bottom) was quite impressive, as he just took the ball away from Alfred May.

Re: #SWARM - RELOADED
Y1, G11 Preview - @ Memphis
Coach Barkley's Take
Memphis claim to run an Air Raid, but Jamaal Sanchez (95 spd, 91 trk) has over 1000 yards on the ground this season. He's a tackle-breaking machine who could have a field day on our defense. Shane Hughes (89 thp, 93 tha, 73 awr) is another talented QB who makes horrible decisions. They have speed at WR, so we'll have to watch the deep ball.
Kyle Culver (82 spd, 90 bsh, 84 tak) is a disruptor who we'll have to watch out for. Their pass rush is very weak, B.J. should be able to sit back and pick them apart. This is a big game, both for our bowl hopes and division hopes.Comment

Re: #SWARM - RELOADED
It's definitely been a roller coaster type year for the Swarm, but at least you seemed to uncover a stud in Henderson at QB. He's had some unreal performances lately, and hopefully they continue in these next two games so you can make a bowl!Comment

Swarm take down Memphis 42-24, clinch division
Henderson shines, throwing for 220, 2 scores and no picks -- Run game struggles a bit, Thompson sees 23 carries as backup Nelson exits game -- Davenport with a huge play to seal it
Josh Roach makes a nice diving grab
Westlake, OH -- Westlake State's bowl hopes live to see another week. The Swarm, aided by a trifecta of missed Memphis field goals, overcame a 355 yard, 3 TD performance from Shane Hughes to move to 5-6 and further cement their division lead.
Memphis started it with a field goal from 42 yards, as true freshman Mike Jones put it right down the middle to open the scoring. Westlake State would get into field goal range themselves, but back to back sacks from Jason Mitchell would see them punt it away.
Aided by a pair of facemask calls (a recurring theme on both sides today), the Tigers got into field goal range again, but Hughes was incomplete on 2nd and 3rd down, forcing Jones to kick a 41 yarder, which he missed. It was Westlake State's turn to benefit from a facemask call, as that would get them to the Memphis 45, and a few plays later, B.J. Henderson found Kevin Sykes on a slant for a 7 yard score. Memphis went 3 and out, as Hughes was incomplete on 3 consecutive passes. 7-3 Swarm after 1.
B.J. Henderson was sacked to make it 2nd and 17, but again, Memphis were called for a facemask and the Swarm were bailed out. They then picked up 38 yards on just 4 run plays to get all the way down to the goal line, where James Thompson would punch it in. Another Memphis drive would stall out, and Jones missed another field goal, this time from 49. Westlake State capitalized, as Henderson led another long drive that he capped with a TD pass to Robert Coley to put the Swarm up 21-3.
B.J. Henderson throws to Robert Coley as the freshman breaks open
Shane Hughes was locked in for the rest of this game. On this drive, he completed 4 passes for 76 yards and a score to Brian Gray to cut into the lead. A Westlake State punt took us to the half, and they would punt it again on the first possession of the second half to give Memphis the chance to get back into it.
That's exactly what the Tigers did, with Hughes carving up the defense, as he did not throw an incompletion in the quarter and threw 2 scores. Memphis would score 14 answered points to take the lead, before Westlake State fired back, as another Memphis facemask kickstarted a touchdown drive that Henderson finished off himself, giving the Swarm a 28-24 lead. The fourth quarter started with the Tigers punting it as they tried to catch Westlake State off guard, with the normally statuesque Hughes keeping it himself on an option on 3rd and 2. It didn't work though, and Westlake State had the football with a chance to really take control.
Tavares Swain caught 8 balls for 99 yards
They would do so, as a methodical 10 play drive ended in a Johnny Nash TD from the goal line. Memphis were still in this one though, down by just 2 scores with plenty of time remaining. On the very first play of the drive, Hughes dropped back and found the speedy Kevin Matthews over the middle. Matthews caught the ball, turned upfield and was met by senior linebacker Andy Davenport. Davenport put a huge hit on Matthews, jarring the ball loose, and Travis Kelley scooped it up. B.J. Henderson would proceed to find Josh Roach inside the 5 as Roach made a great grab to set up another TD.
Great hit from Davenport
That did it. Sean Brown hit Hughes as the latter threw it on 4th down, forcing the incompletion, and Westlake State would run out the rest of the clock to win it by a final score of 42-14.
Brown forces the incompletion
The win means Westlake State, in their first year as a member of the AAC, will play in the conference title game. Dion Barkley downplayed the achievement, as did B.J. Henderson, who came off of arguably his best game of the season, throwing for 220 yards on 19/25 passing with 2 scores and no picks.
Originally posted by Dion BarkleyThis isn't a huge deal. It's nice, for sure, but we've played poor comp all season, these other teams haven't been up to scratch, we've gotten lucky in a couple games. We're going to take this an build on it, my job here is just beginning. As for the net step, we still have to beat ECU.Originally posted by B.J. HendersonNah, I don't think we've made it yet. Me as a first-year starter, it's gonna be dope to play in a title game and hopefully a bowl game, but like Coach told you guys, we gotta beat ECU, can't look ahead. Myself, I have to do what I did today and not turn it over every single game. I've tossed too many picks, it's cost us.
As for Westlake State, they have a bye, then play 3-7 ECU next week, before another bye will see us into conference championship week.
