      Washington Drops Opener To Eagles

Landover, MD - Miles Sanders and Peyton Barber combined for 347 yards on the ground as both backs broke off huge runs in a wild opening game. Barber led the way for Washington, rushing 20 times for 164 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 1-play drive that saw him house it from 75-yards out. A huge loss for the Football Team came in the third when star wideout Terry McLaurin went out with a shoulder injury. It was later diagnosed as a tear and he is likely to miss action for at least a month.

Dwayne Haskins looked on his way to being benched, completing under 50% of his passes for under 100 yards after 3 quarters, but a 4th-quarter surge by the offense ended regulation with the teams squared up at 31-points a piece. Washington won the toss in overtime and marched down the field with a long drive, predominantly on the ground, to kick a go-ahead field goal with 3 minutes to play.

The Eagles drive went pass-heavy, with Wentz targeting Sanders in the flats repeatedly. Then, a critical 4th and inches turned into a game-winning run when fullback Roosevelt Nix bounced off his line, found a hole, and ran past blitzing linebacker on his way to a 57-yard score.

        Haskins Benched In Loss

Pheonix, AZ - Things got ugly quick for Washington with Haskins turning it over on the opening drive. Turnovers were a theme for the Football Team offense, which committed seven of them on the day. After Haskins third interception he was benched in favor of rookie Tyler Huntley, who didn’t do much better as he also threw three interceptions, the final coming on a last-second Hail Mary.

For Arizona, Kyler Murray was mediocre through the air, but deadly on the ground. He accumulated more than 100 yards rushing, including a 65-yard score early in the 1st. His athleticism made up for a conservative passing attack and moved his squad to 2-0 on the young season.

          Haskins Nears Perfection In Win

Cleveland, OH - Dwayne Haskins got the start and his benching last week seemed to pay off as the 2nd-year QB completed a staggering 90% of his passes, going 18 for 20 and racking up 216 yards. He was sacked 5 times on the day, often holding the ball far too long. Peyton Barber, who had flashes but not much success during his time in Tampa, exploded for the second time in thee weeks, racking up 152 yards rushing on 26 carries and picking up a hat-trick to go along with his huge day.

Washington led 14-10 after the first quarter and cruised on to the team’s first win off the legs of Barber. A 26-yard score in the third put the game out of reach of the Browns, who’s Baker Mayfield had an inconsistent day. The former #1 overall pick looked sharp in the first half before throwing two picks in the second. With the win, Coach Penn also gets revenge over the organization that terminated him this past offseason.

            Ravens Victorious In OT

Landover, MD - Haskins tossed 3 touchdowns in the overtime loss, but also two costly interceptions, one being inside the 10 late in the 4th. Overall his season has been up and down, last week being his best outing (i.e. no turnovers) while this week he regressed to his medium performance, 281 yards on an impressive 75% completion rate.

On the other side of the ball, Lamar Jackson had a quite day, but Mark Ingram went off with 158 rushing yards and two scores. He added 46 more yards through the air to give up over 200 all-purpose yards. UDFA wideout Isaiah Wilson had a long 75-yard score to give up 112 yards on 3 catches. The rookie has seen his snaps increase with McLaurin sidelined. Peyton Barber had a solid day, nearly breaking 100 yards on 24 totes.

Ultimately, with the game tied at 27, the Ravens got the win on a Washington mistake. The Football Team won the coin toss and received the kickoff in extra time. Unfortunately, rookie Lynn Bowden Jr. coughed up the return and put the Ravens in scoring position for the walk-off win. Three plays later Ingram pounded it in for his team's 4th-straight win.

              Smith Makes Return In Loss

Landover, MD - Alex Smith was active for the first time this year, slotting in as the backup QB to Haskins on a rainy day in Maryland. Haskins was ineffective in the first half, completing under 50% of his passes while getting sacked three times. Trailing 14-5 at the break, Coach Penn decided to make a change.

Smith entered to start the second half. His first pass in nearly two years was a 20-yard completion to Thomas on third and long. His second pass got intercepted by Ravens safety Hill for a pick-6. Smith would go on to actually surpass Goff in passing yards, while tossing one touchdown and one more interception, clearly rusty after missing the past season and a half.

Overall the Washington offense was a dud for most of the day, with rain slowing down both Barber and rookie Zach Moss. It's unclear if Haskins or Smith will get the start next week, but Coach Penn needs to find which QB can get his offense clicking once more.

Smith Gets Start, Giants Get Win

East Rutherford, NJ - Washington fell behind quickly, first with the Giants scoring on the opening drive, then Golden Tate returning a punt for a score after the Football Team’s initial drive. Tate would return his next punt 26-yards to midfield, allowing the Giants to jump out to a 17-0 lead in the 1st. Washington would get a score late in the 1st when Alex Smith hit Isaiah Wright for a deep touchdown as the UDFA from Temple continues to impress.

The Giants continued to have success the rest of the game, seeing Sterling Shepard haul in a 43-yard score, then complete defensive dominance, holding the Football Team to just 198 total yards. Smith would toss another interception in the game but finished with a respectable completion rate (72%). Even with the return of Terry McLaurin from injury though couldn’t get the passing attack going as Smith finished with only 163 yards.

After the game the team received bad news about Jonathan Allen, who had left the game with a knee injury. While he didn’t tear anything, he did suffer a rather bad dislocation. He was placed on IR but has a chance to return later in the season. 2nd-year rusher Montez Sweat will likely take his place in the starting rotation.

McNair Plans To Sell Part Of Texans

Houston, TX - Bob McNair, the former owner of the Houston Texans, had his fair share of controversy stirred up during his later years. His wife, Janice who inherited his 80% ownership stake, has been a beacon of inspiration in the Houston area. However, rumor has it she is looking to part ways with a portion of here ownership, much to the dismay of her son and Texans CEO Cal McNair.

While there's never a lack of potential investors when a sports franchise goes on the market, the Texans organization carries a bit of baggage with it. The team sits 1-5 on the season, its quasi-head coach/GM fired a week before, depleted draft capital, a scorned franchise QB and more, whichever bidder is lucky enough to be awarded the team will assume control of an organization in need of a complete overhaul.

                    Moss Shines In Tough Loss

Landover, MD - Washington looked to be on its way to its second win of the season before Dallas was able to make a comeback late in the 4th to tie, then win it in the final seconds off a Zuerlien field goal. Alex Smith had his best performance of the season, throwing for 248 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 pick. On the other side of the field, Dak Prescott combined for 330 yards and two scores as he continues to try and prove to the Cowboys he's worth a huge extension.

Another high point in the loss was the performance of rookie running back Zack Moss. The 3rd-round pick took over the in the second half and had a 70-score to highlight his day. So far this season he's been the primary pass-catching back, but with Barber having a mediocre day (15 carries for 51 yards) Moss got a chance to shine, and he did just that.

The team enters its bye next week and will need to find a way to turn around its struggling defense, which has fallen off in the wake of Jonathan Allen's injury.

                      Washington Cuts Haskins

Landover, MD - Desmond King, Kwon Alexander, Avery Williamson, Isaiah Ford, and DeAndrew Washington all found new homes before the trade deadline on Tuesday. Dwayne Haskins did not.

All throughout the team's bye the Washington Football Team tried its best to trade its 2019 1st-rounder but found no suitors for young QB with questionable work ethic. Haskins, who was benched during the team's loss to the Rams, had an up and down season before the team gave the recovering Alex Smith a chance to play.

Once Smith proved he was over his gruesome leg injury from two years ago, the organization, which its current regime has zero ties to the Haskins pick, was ready to move on. The past two games saw Haskins inactive in favor of rookie 7th-rounder Tyler Huntley, and the team was hoping to get some compensation for Haskins at the deadline. With no offers on the table, the team then released the QB 1-hour after the deadline.

Haskins has since cleared waivers and still hasn't generated any interest from teams. For Washington, the team signed Cole McDonald, the Titans 7th-round draft who has been a free agent after being waived back in August.

                        Gallman Powers Giants To Victory

Landover, MD - For New York, no Barkley meant no problem on Sunday. Wayne Gallman had a monster day, rushing 24 times for 198 yards and two scores. He ran at will against a vulnerable Washington front and powered his team to a 34-20 win.

Alex Smith threw two 1st-half touchdowns but went cold in the 2nd half. After being tied 17-17 at the break, Washington was outscored 17-3 to finish the game. Smith nearly ran in a touchdown in the final minute but fumbled it away at the goal line.

The loss drops the Football Team to 1-7, leaving fans hopeless for the 2020 season and shifting their attention to next year's draft. Washington sits tied with Jacksonville at 1-7, behind the winless Jets. The race for Trevor Lawrence seems to be down to these three teams.

Smith Takes A Seat In Shootout Loss

Detroit, MI - 76 points were scored between the two in a wild shootout that saw the Lions come out victorious. Alex Smith threw three interceptions and ended up benched in the third in favor of rookie QB Tyler Huntley, who went on to throw for 206 yards with two scores and an interception. Huntley added 71 more yards on the ground, adding a dynamic to the offense that sparked life into it.

For Detroit, the game went through Kerryon Johnson, as yet another team exploited the Football Team’s weak run defense. Johnson got 30 carries for 146 yards and a staggering 4 touchdowns. His final touchdown with 1:10 to play put the finishing touches on the win.

Going forward, it’s likely that Tyler Huntley gets a chance to show what he’s got now that the season is all but over for Washington.

Bengals Lose Burrow In Big Win

Landover, MD - No Burrow, no problems for the Bengals which lost the #1 overall pick to a knee injury in this one. Cincinnati outlasted the Football Team in yet another wild shootout for Washington. Burrow got dragged down awkwardly early in the 3rd and left the game, early reports fear he is lost for the season. Ryan Finley filled in and torched the Washington defense to the tune of 245 yards and a touchdown.

The Bengals were in control of the game in the first half as Jessie Bates blocked two punts that put 14 points on the board. Tyler Huntley started off hot and cold but went off in the second half for Washington. The 7th-round pick showed flashes of greatness as he finished the day with 294 yards passing, four touchdowns, and two interceptions, with an additional 90 yards on the ground in the losing effort. Washington got within a score late but failed to recover an onsides try.

After the game, Coach Penn announced that DC Mike Nolan, who was hired this past offseason, would be relieved of play-calling duties. Nolan, who is better known scheming for a 4-3 defense, has struggled with the team's 3-4 base. To make matters worse for the defense, both Landon Collins and Montez Sweat were lost for the remainder of the season with shoulder injuries.

Moss And Barber Go Off In Win

Dallas, TX - Rookie Zach Moss and Peyton Barber combined for 333 of Washington's insane 387 team rushing performance to capture the second win of the season for the Football Team. Moss crossed 200 yards for the first time in his young career, hitting 205 on 21 carries. Barber toted it 16 times to the tune of 128 yards as both running backs enjoyed long runs of 78 and 76 a piece. Both also found the end zone twice, with Moss scoring the teams final touchdown to seal the win.

Tyler Huntley had a solid day passing, completing 12 of 14 attempts for 197 yards and a score. Dak Prescott, on the other hand, had a huge day, throwing for 438 yards with 3 touchdowns and a pick. He found Michael Gallup early and often with the 3rd-year receiving coming away with 187 yards and a score.

The win temporarily moves Washington out of the running for the #1 overall pick with just five games to play. Up next week the team will face a red-hot 11-0 Steelers squad that has been unstoppable all season.

                                ASM to purchase Texans?

AFM Tops Texans Contenders, Still Lacks Funds

Miami, FL - South Beach based Anderson Financial Management has emerged as the top candidate to purchase the Houston Texans. However, the firm is currently searching for a partner in order to raise the total capital required to acquire the team from McNair. Early reports are that McNair is demanding $3.75B, about $450M more than what its estimated value is.

ASM, which already deals with financial planning for current athletes, would shift gears in its acquisition of the Texans, jumping head-first into unfamiliar waters. What the firm does bring to the table is its long-time relationships with players around the league, dealings with current and past GMs and agents, as well as a top-notch management team led by Brett Anderson, Joe Krutel, and Spencer Strasmore.
