Cleveland, OH - The first night of the draft is in the books. Five quarterbacks were taken in the top 10, none in the remaining 22 picks. Carolina traded up one spot to take Justin Fields, while the Bears moved up 9 to grab Mac Jones. New England moved up a spot to snag Jaylen Waddle, while the Cowboys patiently waited as the top CB drops to them at #20.

Washington had its eyes set on drafting Florida's Kyle Pitts but the talented TE went off the board at 5. With four QBs off the board by the 10th-pick, Coach Penn wasn't interested in taking the 5th one in Mac Jones, due to his hatred of starting rookie QBs. Instead, Sonny Weaver found Jones' new home in Chicago and made a deal that dropped the Football Team 9 spots down in the first and accumulated more draft capital for this year and next. At #19, the team went offensive for its first pick of the draft.

1.19 - WR Kadarius Toney, Florida
Toney is extremely shifty and athletic. He broke out in 2020 and became the top target of Heisman candidate Kyle Trask. With McLaurin and Samuel already in town, Toney will be able to feast over the middle of the field. The team may have another needs but Toney is one of the top receivers left on the board and gives Mindshew another outstanding target to throw to.
