      Great Season

Wow. Miami against Florida for all the baubles. Glad to be caught up.

Love the way the roster looks. It's super hard to come up with a roster that fits, doesn't display too much, etc. - I certainly haven't managed it - But that looks great,, font is perfect.

Love the frosh duo of Ramsey and Gibson who has a little more speed but still big. If coach is the offensive guru he's known to be then these guys are going to go OFF. like that you gave them chances, particularly Ramsey, that seems important in this day and age. Like if you want to keep them.

Very interesting season for the Longhorns. Definitely a great result after the horrible season the year prior, and clearly Sarkisian had been hitting it hard again.

There were a lot of close calls this year; The final result, the impressive 11-3 record was in jeopardy a few times and the team stuck tough in those difficult games, and limited the blowout losses to just one. Seems like the interception against App State possibly is one of the plays of the year.

Klubnik had his ups and downs, but assuming he returns which seems to be a certainty, it looks like he has the role locked down given that Leake doesn't seem to come into the program with the ideal accuracy to start immediately. At least not with a proven senior as his competition. Speaking of Leake, he should be a politician with his comments about playing for coach. Pucker up buttercup! Am I allowed to root against a Longhorn or two? lol

The season Weems had was INSANE. Looking at his ratings and the roster beforehand I certainly did not pick him out as a player to have a season clearly better than the eventual Mackey winner. I actually thought he would have that in the bag but it made some sense for someone on the #1 team in the nation to win it with what was also a good - just not as great - season.

What about Weems made you start feeding him the ball? What makes him so special? I have long felt that maybe the ratings aren't really indicative of the real abilities in certain players in NCAA 14. Would you think that to be the case with him? The production is just so impressive. Interesting to see where his career goes.

I see that Iowa has unfortunately fallen on some very, very, very hard times lol.

Happy to see you're using the development mod, I can't wait to see what it spits out.

      Congrats on a great year!

Playing freshman from the off is always something I like to do, if they are good enough they will play and Ramsey/Gibson were both good enough. I expect Gibson to take a bigger role in his sophomore season.

Too many close calls for my liking, but after a 1-11 season before I didn't expect it to be all plain sailing no matter whether it was Texas or not. That Hunter interception won us the game as I really do not feel like we would have been able to score (well we didn't) had App State gone and scored on that drive.

I really hope Klubnik comes back, like you say I don't think Leake's arm is going to be good enough to start as a freshman (especially not with this slider set) and that worries me a lot, by all means, you can root against any Longhorns of your choice my friend.

With Weems, it was all about his separation. Whenever we got down into the redzone he just seemed to find ways to get open and give Klubnik nothing but numbers to hit, that is why I fed him the ball so much throughout the season, and what makes it even more enjoyable is I get to do it again next season with an even more improved player attributes wise.

Iowa finished a dismal 4-8 on the season, they are down to a two-star prestige also, only Indiana and Purdue have worse records in the Big Ten than your Hawkeyes I am afraid to tell you.

As always, thank you for checking in bud.

New Year, New Jobs at UCLA and Oklahoma State.
UCLA hires Josh Candle to replace Chip Kelly

College Football, USA -- The entire regular season is over, Miami won the national title, which means it's now time to play musical buyouts!

There have been 25 FBS head coaching changes this off-season, a surprisingly lower number than we had last season.

UCLA fired Chip Kelly bringing to an end his six-year term. The Bruins have just gone 3-9, finishing dead last in the Pac-12, with Kelly posting a 41-42 record in his time with UCLA. The Bruins replaced Kelly with Toledo's Jason Candle who had just led the Rockets to a 12-2 record, won the MAC with a 38-35 win over Akron. Toledo also had college footballs #5 ranked best offense under Candles tutelage.

Toledo hired from within to replace Candle and will move on with offensive coordinator Robert Weiner.

Mike Gundy was relieved of his duties after 19 years with Oklahoma State, posting a career record of 165-90. The Cowboys finished 2-10 in the Big XII last season, only Baylor (3-9, who also fired Dave Aranda) had a worse record, this is a division that no longer has Texas and Oklahoma. The Cowboys replaced Gundy with Glenn Thomas of Mid Tenn State.

The fallout from Miami winning its first national title since 2001 was the evidential hiring of both their offensive coordinator and defensive coordinators as head coaches elsewhere. Rhett Lashlee will replace Kirk Ferentz in Iowa, with Travaris Robinson moving into the SEC to take over from Kevin Johns (who funnily enough was hired by Miami as OC) at Kentucky.

Dana Holgerson (Houston), Brent Brennan (Miami), Kane Wommack (Northern Illinois), and Mario Cristobel (Oregon) were all given extensive pay rises after impressive seasons.

Texas | Klubnik, Hunter, Guilbeau, and Harris all back for their senior year.

Texas' 2025 season just got a massive boost with starting quarterback Cade Klubnik, and all three starting cornerbacks in Travis Hunter, Jaylon Guilbeau, and Denver Harris all confirming that they will be returning to Austin for their senior season.

"This is massive news for the program," Texas head coach Russell Warner said. "With these four back, it means our off-season recruiting can continue on the same path and not only that but were a so much stronger with these players on the roster going into next season."

Texas | Ezell Jolly and Bryce Anderson enter the Transfer Portal.

Two Texas players in running back Ezell Jolly, and safety Bryce Anderson have both confirmed they will enter the Transfer Portal and will leave the Longhorns program.

Jolly, who rushed for 290 yards and 1 touchdown last season as a backup to Le'Veon Moss is expected to transfer to Baylor. With Bryce Anderson, a senior expected to transfer to Alabama.

Yeah, and it would happen on a year where the O-Line class wasn't deep, nor interested in coming to Texas. It could be a rough year under center for Klubnik next season.

Breaking down Texas' 2025 recruiting class.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Longhorns wrapped up the 2025 recruiting cycle Wednesday with a bang as Russell Warner's first class at the helm of Texas football will go down as a memorable one with the Longhorns snagging the nations No. 3 overall class.

Whilst the 2025 recruiting class was void of any five-star recruits, the Longhorns did receive signed letters of intent from 13 four-stars, and 3 three-stars. The biggest signing's on the day was that of four-star center Doug Gudino and four-star offensive tackle Isiah Milton, why you ask, well Texas just graduated all four of its starters along the offensive line and in a year where the offensive line talent was slightly depleted these two signings will prove massive for Warner and his recruiting class. Both Gudino and Milton will be starters right out of the gate on the Longhorns offensive line next season.

Texas finished out the day with two more four-star signings in Ladarius Turrentine (TE) and Elijah Smith (CB). If Xander Weems freshman season inside Warner's offense is anything to go by then we expect big things from Turrentine. The 6-6, 249lbs player out of Lake Jackson, TX runs a 4.48 40-time, second amongst all tight ends, he also possesses great hands for a big guy, and in an offense that uses a lot of two-tight end sets, we look forward to seeing the combination of Weems and Turrentine next season. Elijah Smith's commitment couldn't have come at a better time for Warner, going into next season the Longhorns will lose five of their starting cornerbacks to either graduation or the NFL and with four-star Garden City prospect Smith now on board it gives the Longhorns a better outlook for next season. Smith, 6-0, 190lbs chose Texas over NC State, Virginia Tech, and Kentucky on Signing Day.

"I think we have one hell of a group of players coming into campus," Warner told reporters today. "Whilst the class wasn't as full as I would have liked it is full of talent that will improve this team as early as next season, and 100% for the future..."

The biggest sleeper in the Longhorns Signing Day signees could well be four-star safety Mikel Sutton, ranked as the No. #173 player in the class who runs a 4.36 40 time, has the size of a linebacker at 6-3, 189 lbs (with added weight). Sutton is currently listed as the No. 6 free safety in the class but we expect the Texas coaching staff to assess him in spring and move him down to linebacker where he looks better suited to play at the collegiate level.

"We have some players coming in who are ready to start right away and that's crucial," Warner continued. "We added a lot of speed, athleticism, and explosiveness to our team today and well look to add even more next season."

The one major loss on signing day for Texas was that of Juwan Ross, the No. 1 ranked linebacker in the class who spurned offers from Texas, LSU, USC, and Florida to attend BYU next season.
