Austin, Texas -- Texas hadn't considered Arkansas a rival for a long time, but with the schools move to the Southeastern Conference last season and their first matchup in the same conference since 1991 (Southwest Conference) ending with a Razorbacks 34-31 overtime victory that thought didn't last long.

Texas had 545 total offensive yards, held Arkansas to just 111-yards of total offense and the Longhorns beat their newly restored nemesis 42-6 on Saturday evening. A Longhorn's crowd of just under full capacity, was jubilant all night as they witnessed true freshman tight end Xander Weems equal Wane McGarity's four touchdown receptions in a game.

Texas coach Russell Warner was San Jose State's offensive coordinator the last time Texas actually beat Arkansas and he has now led the Longhorns to their first 3-0 start since 2012 when Mack Brown was at the helm.

"Wasn't that something?" Warner said after the game. "These really are some hard-working kids. The offense is starting to adapt even more to my playbook, and that showed today in the scoreline and our defense under coach Avalos has been on point in the first three games."

The Longhorns led 35-3 at halftime as Arkansas was dominated from the very beginning. The Razorbacks punted four out of their first five drives, with the only exception being a Bryan Allen Jr. interception. Texas had no such issues and were only forced to punt the ball once all game in the third quarter.

Longhorns quarterback Cade Klubnik is starting to show signs that he is an elite quarterback, and Warner's quarterback coaching has contributed massively to that fact. Klubnik torched Arkansas for 357-yards, 5 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, he was sacked just once all game. This would have earnt the junior SEC POTW had Vanderbilt quarterback Conner Harrell not accounted for 6 touchdowns over UTSA. Whilst Klubnik stole the show through the air, Le'Veon Moss did his bit on the ground. The sophomore broke off a season-high 166-yards on 21 carries and his 55-yard touchdown run which saw him carry two Arkansas defenders into the endzone was a career-high. However, those two performances were only outdone by true freshman tight end Xander Weems. Weems who outrageously caught his fourth touchdown off the day one-handed finished the game with 105-yards, 4 touchdowns on 6 receptions.

On defense, Omari Arbor was a thorn in Malik Hornsby's side registering two sacks and Hornsby will be glad this is the only time in his collegiate career that he will have to face this Texas defense having been KJ Jeffersons backup the previous two meetings. Hornsby managed just 71-yards passing all game and it wasn't much better on the ground for Arkansas either. The Razorbacks came into this game ranked No.3 in the nation in rushing (314.0) but the Longhorns held them to just 40.

The Takeaway: Xander Weems becomes the first tight end to have over 100 yards receiving in a game since Jermichael Finley.

Next week, Texas (3-0, 3-0) take themselves on a road trip into the hostile environment that is Tiger Stadium to face off against #8 LSU (2-1, 1-1). The Tigers are coming off the back of a 27-10 loss to #1 Oklahoma this weekend.

Omari Arbor with his first of two sacks today.

Ja'tavion Sanders proving Weems isn't the only tight end Texas has with this TD reception.

Sawyer Goram-Welch prevents Raheim Sanders from scoring what would have been Arkansas-only TD.

Klubnik's only mistake was this underthrown pass which Jahari Rogers picked off.

Don't think I've seen a four-touchdown performance from a tight end on NCAA before! Stellar effort by the Longhorns as a team, things seem to be clicking early on in Coach Warner's tenure.

I love the tight end position so seeing them grab 5 TDs for you is a wonderful sight! [emoji1598]

I don't think I have ever seen it too, and I for sure have never used four touchdowns to a tight end before. Weems is one of those WR/TE hybrids though, he is a really good route runner and I am even considering lining him up there next season. It has been a good start, but the tougher games begin next week with LSU.

It is a special position that doesn't get a lot of love. Kittle is up there as my favorite player in the NFL, so we have a mutual love for the Tight End position.

                Texas | Dewberry out

Texas was fortunate enough in the win over Arkansas to rest their starters going into the later part of the fourth quarter however, that move has cost them sophomore left tackle Kam Dewberry for two weeks with a hamstring strain.

"Kam will be out for no more than two weeks," Warner said. "Hayden Connor will move into be Logan's backup whilst Kam is out."

Texas | Longhorns will debut alternate black uniforms for LSU game

The Longhorns will debut their new black alternates this weekend when they travel to Baton Rouge to face off against #8 LSU. Texas isn't known for alternate uniforms and hasn't worn a different colored uniform over than Burnt Orange or White since 1899.

"The kids love them," Warner told reporters after practice today. "It's something I spoke to Chris (Chris Del Conte AD) when I came over from Virginia Tech about the possibility of giving these boys even more swag. We then took the idea to Nike and once again they nailed it."

Texas has confirmed the possibility of more uniform combinations in the future but has stated that the school's tradition of Burnt orange and white will be upheld in the highest regard.

Texas | Philips visit is a real success

Four-star running back Naeem Philips was in town last weekend when Texas demolished Arkansas and 247Sports has reported that the 6'0", 221lbs running back out of Grapevine High School is now warm to hot to commit to the Longhorns.

Philips will be at the Red River Showdown with Oklahoma in week six, but that is when he takes his official visit to Oklahoma.

Philips closes out his official visits with Air Force in week 11, Alabama in week 13, and finishes with Wyoming in week 14.

Re: Tearz49ers Presents: This Is Texas (CFB Revamped)

                    *************

Baton Rouge, Louisiana -- Mistakes lose you games, and the Texas Longhorns found that out the hard way today as they watched a ten-point lead slip away in the second half off the back of three Cade Klubnik interceptions.

Texas led 10-0 at half-time and had almost shut down the LSU offense, Anthony Hill and Denver Harris both had picks on Nussmeier and the senior quarterback was sacked four times in the first half by a rampant Texas defense, there were even some calls from the LSU crowd to bring in freshman Israel Carter to replace Nussmeier, but the senior repaid Ed Orgeron's faith in the second half leading the Tigers to two touchdowns drives which eventually won the game for No.8 LSU.

Nussmeier was near perfect in the second half, and he had to be. The senior passed for 237-yards and a touchdown, the touchdown to Shazz Preston with 2:39 left to play in the third quarter really got things started for the Tigers offense, and once Klubnik had thrown his second interception to Tigers cornerback AJ Harris it was Nussmier who led a 16 play drive which he capped off himself with a 2-yard option run.

"Man, he was so fired up," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. "The kid is a baller. He lives for that moment and I'll tell you what, those were some tough plays"

To be fair, Texas wasn't even meant to be in this game Lee Corso had doned the Tiger head and LSU was a solid 4-0 on picks as the College Gameday crew were in town.

Klubnik would finish the game passing for 197-yards and a touchdown to go along with his 3 interceptions in what was a dismal day for the junior who up until this point had shown promise. Klubnik will almost certainly put this loss on his shoulders, his endzone interception thrown to Pig Cage took certain points off the board for Texas and it was an inexcusable forced throw that he didn't need to make. Le'Veon Moss started the game out promising, but the gaps closed up as the game went on and he was held to just 76-yards on 20 carries (3.8 average).

"You can't win football games if you don't do the fundamentals correctly," Texas head coach Russell Warner said after the game. "The offense was at sixes and sevens in the second half and our quarterback was trying to play like he was superman. You can't come into a place like this and play like that in the second half, it's ugly and pathetic from the offense today."

The Takeaway: The Longhorns defense had four sacks on LSU quarterback Greg Nussmeier today, up until this point he hadn't been sacked once in the first three games of the season. Texas is now ranked #4 in the nation for sacks with 13, only Ole Miss and Fresno State have more with Buffalo also on 13.

Next week, Texas (3-1, 3-1) will play host to #11 Georgia (2-1, 2-0) who lost their first game of the season to Northern Illinois but have since won back to back games against South Carolina and Texas A&M. The Bulldogs are also led at quarterback by former No.1 overall recruit Arch Manning.

                    Photo Gallery

Jaivon Ramsey got Texas on the board with this touchdown reception.

Pig Cage picks off Klubnik in the endzone.

Shazz Preston gets the Tigers first points.

Garrett Nussmeier puts LSU infront after their slow first half.

AJ Harris second interception of the game sealed the win for LSU.

Klubnik looked defeated as he threw his third pick of the game, knowing full well it had cost his team the game.

That's a tough loss to swallow, because that felt like very winnable and would have made a major statement in Year 1 of the Warner Era.

Arch Manning at Georgia is veryyyyyyyy interesting. No Saturdays off in the SEC! (Unless it's Vandy. )

Can't tell ya how happy I am to get in on the ground floor of this thing, still have a little catching up to do but the team is off to a pretty good start all things considered. Glad you're running with your favorite team, whatever it takes to make it interesting and fun - so important. Showed the ability to just wipe a team off the map against Arkansas but LSU just seems to have that talent that makes it difficult every single time. Absolutely love the look of this thing and it made my day to see that you considered using something like I'm running for injuries. I can tell you it has made my life annoying at times and I hope it does the same thing for you. ;-)

edit: I've now punted a fellow 'nasty creators dynasty to the top of the next page (at least for my settings) twice in a row, which I usually try to avoid. It's basically spring training again for me so please have patience.

In the first half I really did think "Is this really the #8 team in the nation". Well that attitude came back to bite me in the *** in the second half.

This is why I love the SEC, each game is tougher than the last.

Arch Manning is scary, and we'll do well to contain him, but he's just the tip of the iceberg in this Georgia team.

I've had a few dynasties start up in the last few years that just fizzled out, and I really do feel like that was down to the team choice. As you say I'm now using my favourite team and there is that excitement to get home and play the games, then report them. I don't even find the weekly updates mundane either. I hate this game for injuries, so using your system works really well! Although, I do have to keep reminding myself to check the notepad where I have them all listed.

Don't worry about bumping stuff up to a new page. I used to be so caught up in that sort of stuff but now as I'm older I really don't care where my stuff is placed on a page, if people want to read it they will.

As always, thank you to all of you for following and reading this.
