The Colorado State game really was a stat padder. I could tell straight away it was going to be one of those games. I wouldn't normally schedule a game against a team that's 66 overall, but I am trying to follow our real-life games.

Recruiting has been quite slow up until this point. However, we have now signed a couple more players and the post will be up soon!

AUSTIN, Texas -- The state of Alaska isn't renowned for producing top-rated recruits however, four start receiver Daniel Ogletree out of Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School is a one of exception, and today the nations 42nd ranked overall recruit according to 247Sports has committed to play his football at the collegiate level in Texas.

Texas offered Ogletree back in January and the two-sport star was shocked when that offer came.

Texas receivers coach Brennan Marion extended that offer to Ogletree.

"I was in awe when I heard him say 'we offered you'"," said Ogletree. "Not because I don't rate my talent, or think I shouldn't have got the offer but I know what it's like coming from a place that gets overlooked every year. There's a lot of talent up here and I am proud of where I come from and I plan to show just what the recruits from Alaska can really do."

Alaska hosted its third-ever AveryStrong Alaska Showcase last December in Anchorage and Ogletree made the most of that showing, earning the Overall MVP at the event and cementing his spot as the No.1 rated player in Alaska above fellow four-star recruit Austin Buchanan (DE). It was at this event that 247Sports actually upgraded Ogletree from a three-star to a four-star.

Ogletree also had an offer from Auburn and was being recruited by Texas A&M, Alabama, and Notre Dame.

By no means is Ogletree a fully polished off recruit. At 6'1", 191lbs he has a decent frame for a receiver, and also being a basketball player he has the ability to go up and get the ball. However, he isn't a very good route runner, something Texas will need to work with him on in what is expected to be a redshirted first season with the Longhorns.

      Ogletree runs a 4.42 40 time.

"It pays to look everywhere." Texas head coach Russell Warner said. "Alaska is no exception. I found that out last season with Virginia Tech. We are pleased that Daniel has committed and we look forward to working with him next season."

Bettye Davis East went 10-1 last season and went on to win the Div I state championship beating Juneau 30-17. Ogletree caught 92 passes for 1436 yards and 25 touchdowns in that season.

Ogletree is the second Top-100 receiver to sign with Warner's 2025 class joining Jaleel Solomon. Ogletree took his official visit to Austin back in week 6.

Always loved the detail you go into with the recruit photos and their high school uniforms. That Alaska pipeline is just getting started!

It's even tougher now because I am on PC, you can't download High School teams like you could on the PS3, so I am having to find a real college team with uniforms as close to the college as possible and do a little photoshop work. I am going to monitor Alaska over the next few seasons and see if there are any gems in there for sure.

                      ***************

Austin, Texas -- Travis Hunter stood in front of the small contingent of traveling TCU fans, hands cupped behind his ears as if to say "I can't hear you now." Why? Well for the past week the junior cornerback has had to stomach talk from all corners of the Horned Frog nation about how Alex Honig torched him for a touchdown in TCU's 14-3 victory in the reverse fixture last season.

How did Hunter answer those fans? He took the first play of the game, an Alex Honig pass back for a touchdown setting up the Longhorns with an early 7-0 lead. This wasn't the only time Hunter would find himself handed a gift by Honig, the junior quarterback would massively underthrow Kyion Graves in the third quarter and Hunter would be seen licking his lips at the chance of a second interception.

"All they did was talk, talk, talk all week," Hunter said. "I'd seen post's on social media, I had their own fans tweeting me videos of that play from last year. Well, who's laughing now?"

The Texas offense matched its defense's effort once again today. Ezell Jolly took home a 14 yard run in the second quarter, the sophomore's first touchdown of the season, and Le'Veon Moss would finish the game with 129 yards on 23 carries. However, the star of the show again was Cade Klubnik who passed for 222 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Klubnik threw two deep balls for touchdowns to Jaden Alexis and Jaivon Ramsey that any NFL quarterback would have been proud of.

The Texas defense sacked Honig three times. Omari Abor picked up his 9th sack of the season, the junior is leading the NCAA in this statistic. Ernest Cooper IV's 8th sack of the season put an end to a late TCU resurgence which saw the Horned Frogs score fourteen unanswered points.

TCU sophomore running back Jadarian Price was held under 100 yards (43) for only the third time this season.

The Takeaway: Since Klubnik's benching in the loss to Oklahoma, the junior quarterback has thrown for 876 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

Next week, Texas (7-2, 5-2) will take their second bye week of the season ahead of their week eleven matchup in the Lone Star Showdown against #21 Texas A&M (4-3, 1-3).

How about the Florida contingent dominating the projected playoff field so far? Pretty comfortable win there against TCU, nice to see every area of the team have success and Klubnik string a couple of good performances together.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana -- Mistakes lose you games, and the Texas Longhorns found that out the hard way today as they watched a ten-point lead slip away in the second half off the back of three Cade Klubnik interceptions.

Texas led 10-0 at half-time and had almost shut down the LSU offense, Anthony Hill and Denver Harris both had picks on Nussmeier and the senior quarterback was sacked four times in the first half by a rampant Texas defense, there were even some calls from the LSU crowd to bring in freshman Israel Carter to replace Nussmeier, but the senior repaid Ed Orgeron's faith in the second half leading the Tigers to two touchdowns drives which eventually won the game for No.8 LSU.

Nussmeier was near perfect in the second half, and he had to be. The senior passed for 237-yards and a touchdown, the touchdown to Shazz Preston with 2:39 left to play in the third quarter really got things started for the Tigers offense, and once Klubnik had thrown his second interception to Tigers cornerback AJ Harris it was Nussmier who led a 16 play drive which he capped off himself with a 2-yard option run.

"Man, he was so fired up," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. "The kid is a baller. He lives for that moment and I'll tell you what, those were some tough plays"

To be fair, Texas wasn't even meant to be in this game Lee Corso had doned the Tiger head and LSU was a solid 4-0 on picks as the College Gameday crew were in town.

Klubnik would finish the game passing for 197-yards and a touchdown to go along with his 3 interceptions in what was a dismal day for the junior who up until this point had shown promise. Klubnik will almost certainly put this loss on his shoulders, his endzone interception thrown to Pig Cage took certain points off the board for Texas and it was an inexcusable forced throw that he didn't need to make. Le'Veon Moss started the game out promising, but the gaps closed up as the game went on and he was held to just 76-yards on 20 carries (3.8 average).

"You can't win football games if you don't do the fundamentals correctly," Texas head coach Russell Warner said after the game. "The offense was at sixes and sevens in the second half and our quarterback was trying to play like he was superman. You can't come into a place like this and play like that in the second half, it's ugly and pathetic from the offense today."

The Takeaway: The Longhorns defense had four sacks on LSU quarterback Greg Nussmeier today, up until this point he hadn't been sacked once in the first three games of the season. Texas is now ranked #4 in the nation for sacks with 13, only Ole Miss and Fresno State have more with Buffalo also on 13.

Next week, Texas (3-1, 3-1) will play host to #11 Georgia (2-1, 2-0) who lost their first game of the season to Northern Illinois but have since won back to back games against South Carolina and Texas A&M. The Bulldogs are also led at quarterback by former No.1 overall recruit Arch Manning.

                            Photo Gallery

Jaivon Ramsey got Texas on the board with this touchdown reception.

Pig Cage picks off Klubnik in the endzone.

Shazz Preston gets the Tigers first points.

Garrett Nussmeier puts LSU infront after their slow first half.

AJ Harris second interception of the game sealed the win for LSU.

Klubnik looked defeated as he threw his third pick of the game, knowing full well it had cost his team the game.

You kind of have a two-way dominance at the moment what with the Florida contingent and the ACC dominance, obviously the ACC is going to fall off at some point. My feelings on Klubnik are starting to change a little, he can make those deep balls no problem, but the shorter ones is where I want him to improve.

Let's just hope those black uniforms don't become a thing. Think I am going to roll them out once more and hope for the best. I hate OU so we have found mutual dislike there this hate rolls through real life and in-game so that was a tough one to play out for sure.
