Huge offensive performance for the bounce back W!

You guys had a real shot at Miami. I've noticed everytime I play them they are very underwhelming in the game for some reason.

If KJ doesn't toss those two INTs you could have easily had that game. Very encouraging you're at least hanging with the big boys early on

It helped that in the game they were not able to secure a NIL QB to replace Ward, so there QB though a SR was only a 77 and threw 4 INT's. I honestly am okay losing that game because it really should be a game I lose. They are still ranked #9 for a reason. Martinez is one of the best RB's in the nation and he proved it with his game.

I was shocked with how well the offense played against FAU. When I ended my Dynasty with Boise State I was rolling with the Georgia playbook..I have been looking for something that had more pre-snap motion because it's what Boise State is famous for but for some reason doesn't have alot in their playbook on this game. So I did end up switching it up and using the Georgia playbook for that game.

I will say I even though I am only 3 games in my team is better then they look on paper. KJ is a solid QB. I really should run with him more, he has some wheels and with my WR core not being great, I need to really lean on my running game. We did that with the FAU game. I am a 79 Overall and USF is a 80 Overall, Liberty is a 82 and Marshall is a 80.. The rest of the conference is between a 75-79, so I feel like we have a pretty legit shot at winning most of our games which isn't really what I wanted to do right away. I only lose 9 players off this squad but all 9 are starters and 8 of the 9 are basically the highest Overall rated players on my team, so recruiting another solid group of 3* guy's who can come in and play right away is going to be big. I am really hoping to land a at least 1 stud WR and a RB. My backup LT is decent enough to fill in next year and honestly even though my other DE's and OLB are trash rating wise they all have decent speed and do a pretty good job of putting pressure on the QB, and my backup CB's are solid and should be low 80's next year so losing Blades II won't hurt as bad.

Looking forward to your next project as well.. Dominating is fun, but I am sure even you are at some point ready for a bigger challenge then what your getting at USC>

        GAME RECAP

South Florida jumped out to a early (7-0) lead in the 1st Quarter but FIU pulled within 1 with a pair of 2nd Quarter FG's by FR PK Isacc Glennon to make it (7-6) at the half.

FIU opened up the 2nd half with the ball and took the lead as Keyone Jenkins hits SO WR Kyle McNeal on a 30 yd touchdown to make it (13-7). Then FR CB Raheim Sexil would pick off USF SR QB Byrum Brown (85 Ovr) for what would be the first of (3) 2nd half INT's by the Panthers leading to another Jenkins TD as the JR QB hits SR RB Shomari Lawrence out of the backfield for a 4 yd score to make it (19-7). Leading by 8, Coach Miller elects to leave the offense on the field for the 2pt play but the ball is in and out of TE Rocky Beers hands.

SO SS Dominick Mays was up next picking off Brown and taking it back 19 yds as we head to the 4th. Leading, FIU would go to the ground game as SO RB TJ Snowden breaks a 37 yd run before getting tackled just short of the endzone. But 2 plays later SR Shomari Lawrence would take it in from 6 yds out to make it (26-7).

Trailing by 19, USF was forced to go to the air, as the run game continued to get stuffed as FIU holds the Bulls to just 13 yds on the ground, FIU switching things up and going to a 4-2-5 Defense continued to confuse Brown as RS SO Mister Clark comes up with his 1st INT of the season picking off Brown for his 3rd INT, as FIU rolls to their 3rd win of the season.

        UP NEXT

With 3 wins in their first 4 games, Coach Miller and the Panthers have a chance to do something they havn't done since 2019 which is win more then 4 games in a season.

        Coach Miller
"With 6 of our next 8 games at home, I feel like our chances are pretty good to not just get our 5th win but to also get our 6th and become Bowl eligible. When I took this job despite what alot of the experts thought about this squad and the amount of loss's we had in the portal, I knew if they found their heart we could win some ball games"

Florida International will have the next 2 weeks off before the return to action in Week 7 hosting Appalachian State.

MILLER LANDS FIRST 2 COMMITTMENTS OF THE 2025 CLASS

Coach Matt Miller knows a thing or 2 about WR's and he knows he landed a good one in Tyler Cisco. A 4* rated #278 OVR/#36 FL/#45 WR) from Fort Lauderdale Florida. Cisco is listed at 6'1 180 lbs and has the makings of FIU's next CUSA All-American.

          Miller
"Cisco is fast. Like really fast (95 spd).. He's faster then I ever was even at the top of my game. In fact he so fast I am pretty sure right now he would be the fast guy on the team. besides CB Brian Wall (98 spd)"
Despite having a roster of 10 WR's including 5 Freshman, Cisco was just to good to pass up. as Miller lands the first of 3 potential 4* Atheletes in this year's class.

Cisco won't be KJ's only new weapon next season, as Coach Miller also lands Rocky Beers potential replacement at TE, with 3* Jose Malik (#1442 Overall/#174 FL/#79 TE) from Orlando Florida.

Listed at 6'3 233lbs, Malik had a scholarship offer and a Week 9 visit scheduled with Wake Forest.

          Coach Miller
"We are very excited about Jose.. He is a tremendous pass catcher and honestly is more a WR then a TE which works perfectly in our offense. (80 catch, 85 speed, 87 ACC and he is a Green Gem"

              LIBERTY THE TEAM TO BEAT

Well FIU is looking to play just it's 2nd CUSA matchup in Week 7, (6-0) Liberty already is a perfect (3-0) in CUSA play. The Flames were the Pre-season favorite to win the conference and they are showing the nation why. SR QB Kaidon Salter is having a Top-5 Heisman season so far with 1448 yds passing with 19 TD and 1 INT, well also rushing for 298 yds and 3 TD.

Well Lilberty is on 1 side of the spectrum, the James Madison Dukes are the opposite. The Dukes are currently (0-5) and 0-2 in CUSA play..

FAU isn't much better the Owls just picked up their first win of the season moving to (1-4) Overall and (1-1) in CUSA play with a (31-17) win over East Carolina.

                GAME RECAP

For the 2nd time this season, the FIU Panthers scored over 50+ points, poblem was the other team did too. FIU and Appalachian State combined for over 1200 yds of Total Offense combing for 15 Touchdowns and 54 1st Downs.

The Mountaineers won the toss and elected to kick.. QB Keyone Jenkins would take off on the opening play of the game scrambling 18 yds before fumbling the ball as Appy State takes over. It would be the only mistake of the day for "KJ" though as the Junior QB would go on to set a new school record for passing TD's in a game (6) well also adding a rushing TD giving him his best offensive output of the season.

Tied (14-14) at the end of the 1st Quarter, FIU would take a (31-21) lead with less then a minute to play in the half but the Mountaineers go 40 yds in the final 30 seconds setting up a FG as time expires to cut the lead to (31-24) going into the locker rooms.

Appy State would then tie the game (31-31) on the opening drive of the 3rd Quarter but FIU answers back as Shomari Lawrence scores on a 20 yd run to make it (38-31). Then a Brian Blades II INT gives the Panthers the ball back inside the 20 yd line and Jenkins delivers a strike to Kyle McNeal for the touchdown to make it (45-31)..

Moving into the 4th still down by 2 scores, Applachian State QB (SR Billy Wiles-75 Overall) shakes off his early INT with a huge 77 yd TD bomb to SO Williams Fowles (81 Ovr) to make it (45-38). KJ answers back though with his 5th TD of the day hitting McNeal again this time from 33 yds out to make it (52-38). Wiles though goes right back to what works as he hits Fowles for a 58 yd TD to make it (52-45). KJ not done yet though leads a 8 play drive that ends with 28 yd TD to JuJu Lewis making it (59-45) with under 3 minutes to play.

Wiles though fires back this time hitting SO WR Grant Tucker (76 Ovr) on a 75 yd score pulling the Mountaineers within a touchdown yet again (59-52).

Looking to secure the win, FIU goes to the ground game as Lawrence grinds out a career high 37 carries but on a 3rd and 2, Appy State hits Lawrence in the backfield for a 2 yd loss leaving Coach Miller to send out FR Issac Glennon for a 32 yd FG giving the Panthers the (62-52) lead with 1:48 to play.

Wiles wasn't going down without a fight but facing a 3rd and 18, Blades II comes up with his 2nd INT of the game sealing the victory as FIU matches their 4 win total just 5 games into the season..

                    GAME RECAP

In just his first season at the helm, Coach Matt Miller has accomplished something former HC Mike MacIntyre couldn't do for 3 straight seasons as he picks up his 5th victory of the season and moves to 3-0 in CUSA play.

Marshall won the toss and elected to kick, but the Panthers wasted little time putting 7 points on the scoreboard as QB Keyone Jenkins hits true freshman WR Faitele Owara on the 84 yd TD bomb to make it (7-0)

                    Coach Miller
"Faitele despite being 6'4 is still our fastest receiver on the team (94 spd) and when he gets past a DB nobody is catching him"
FIU would latter add a 35 yd FG by FR Issac Glennon to extend their lead to (10-0).

Marshall behind JR QB Cole Pennington (78 Ovr) would battle back tough as they score tie the game (17-17) with under 2 minutes to play, but the Panthers drive the field going 80 yds capped off by a 5 yd TD run by Shomari Lawrence to give FIU the (24-17) lead at the half.

Marshall would open up the 2nd half with Pennington throwing a INT returned 84 yds by Brian Blades II, but Jenkins first pass attempt to the endzone is picked off as Marshall takes over on the 20 yd line. The Herd however fail to pick up the 1st down and are forced to punt.. After scoring 24 points in the 1t half the Panthers offense too would struggle to move the ball as they to are forced to punt.

Moving to the 4th Quarter, Marshall would cut the lead down to (24-20) as they settle for for a 48 yd FG by SR Rece Verhoff (78 ovr). The Herd had a chance to cut the lead to just 1 as Verhoff comes back out to attempt a 47 yd FG that hits the upright and falls left.

FIU still struggling to move the ball finally finds some footing with the ground game as Snowden picks up the 1st down with a 8 yd run, and then Snowden got involved in the passing game hauling in a 28 yd pass that would later set up Lawerence's 3rd rushing TD of the day as FIU extends their lead to 11.

Pennington would lead the Herd on 1 final drive but facing a 4th and 12, Pennington's pass is knocked awy as FIU takes over on downs and runs out the clock.

Pennington the son of legendary Marshall and New York Jet QB Chad Pennington would finish the day 32/51 (62%) for 320 yds with 2 TD and 2 INT. Pennington was sacked 7 times by the Panther D

                      GAME RECAP

The Charlotte Defense came to play and JR QB Max Brown (79 Ovr) won the head to head QB battle with "KJ" as the 49er's snap the Panthers 4 game winning streak.

A late FG by the 49er's gave them the (10-7) lead in the 1st Quarter and a late touchdown by Brown with 48 seconds to play in the half gave Charlotte the (24-14) lead.

Charlotte opened up the 2nd half with the ball and Brown went right back to work hitting JR WR Isaih Myers (78 Ovr) with a 70 yd bomb to extend the lead to (31-14).

                      Coach Miller
"Giving up big chunk plays and touchdowns has been a weakness of our Defense all season. You never want to have doubt you can't comeback from a deficit but I knew at that point our team had given up"

A forced punt would give the away team the ball back and Brown went right back to work slinging it as the JR QB threw his 5th TD of the day hitting Myers for another score (38-14).

FIU would battle back though as Jenkins finds JuJu Lewis on a nice 42 yd gain before connecting with True Freshman Faitele Okwara on a 27 yd TD to make it (38-21).

The Panthers would pull within 10 points early in the 4th as Jenkins throws his 4th TD of the day connecting with Okwara again (14 yds) to make it (38-28). The touchdown reception gives the Freshman the team lead with (6) on the season.

                      Coach Miller
"We have been really impress with Faitele these past 2 weeks.. He has really stepped up giving KJ another weapon in the passing game"

Leading by 10, Charlotte would turn to their grond game as JR RB Terron Kellman (85 Ovr) breaks off a 23 yd run for the score to make it (45-28).

FIU however would turn the ball over on downs as the 49er's run out the clock.

Brown finished the day 21/29 (72%) for 311 yds with the 5 TD's.

                        GAME RECAP

Turnovers lead to Pirates comeback and eventual win..

ECU took a (14-7) lead in the 1st Quarter as JR QB Katin Houser (82 Ovr) throws a pair of 35 yd TD's (D. Riles and B. Spalding) but the Panthers would battle back making it (14-13) at the half as FR Issac Glennon connects on a pair of FG's..

FIU opened up the 2nd half with the ball and quicky drove the 80 yds ending it with a 29 yd TD pass from Jenkings to Kyle McNeal. Coach Miller would leave the offense on the field as KJ keeps the ball himself diving in for the 2pt conversion to make it (21-14). A pair of fumbles killed 2 scoring opportunities for FIU, but the Panther "D" comes up their own turnover as SO CB Preston Thompson picks off Hauser.

Still leading going into the 4th, ECU ties the game up as Hauser hits SR WR Jacob Gill (79 Ovr) on a 17 yd scoring strike (21-21). FIU would answer back though as "KJ" hits Faitele Okwara for his team leading 7th TD of the season (28 yds) to make it (28-21). FIU would hold the Pirates forcing a punt but facing a 3rd and 4 of their own Jenkins drops back to pass throwing a INT to SR CB Dontavius Nash (82 Ovr) for the Panthers 3rd turnover of the game.

Hauser makes quick work of the Panther D as he hits JR WR Chase Howell (82 Ovr) for a 19 yd score to give him his 4th passing TD on the day.

Tied (28-28) FIU had a chance to win the game in regulation as Freshman Issac Glennon would attempt a 52 yd FG that ends up falling just short as the game goes to Overtime

                        Coach Miller
"We knew going into the kick that Glennon season best was from 49 yds, but he also was 16/17 going into that kick with his only other miss coming from outside 50, so we knew that it was probably a 50/50 chance, but why not give it a try. I still have faith he can make one from 50+"

After both team settled for FG's in the opening drives of Overtime, ECU would take the lead with a 5 yd TD run by Hauser to make it (38-31) but FIU would tie the game once again as WR Kyle McNeal takes in a Jet Sweep from 3 yds out to make it (38-38).

FIU hoping to put the game away with a score instead did the opposite as Nash picks off Jenkins for his 2nd INT of the game which ends up being the game winner as ECU comes out and knocks down the FG for the win.

                        Coach Miller
"It was another tough day running the ball. When we are only getting 2.9 yds per carry it put us in to many 3rd and 5 and 3rd and 6 situations and when your forced to throw almost 50 times mistakes happen.. We just need to go back to the drawing board and figure some things out"
Houser finished the day 24/37 (64%) for 284 yds with 4 TD and 1 INT passing and the rushing TD as he takes Player of the Game honors.

                        RECRUITING UPDATE

With back to back loss's at home with several potential recruits on the sidelines, FIU goes back to back weeks without a commitment, well also losing their last chance at a 3rd 4* Recruit this season a 4* WR Manny Forsett (#34 Overall/#4 FL/#5 WR) signs with Clemson.

                        Coach Miller
"We knew landing Forsett would be a huge steal for the program. Well 247 has him listed as a 4*, several other recruiting services have him as a 5*. So to finish #2 behind Clemson we felt like was still something we could build on."

Got faith coach Miller can crack the code and get back in the win column

Moving right through the season. I was away for a week or so and came back to this, excellent stuff. Love your writeups too, simple and to the point. I try and make mine that, but you add the stats in afterwards without the table stuff. To each their own but those tables drive me nuts if I accidentally hit refresh haha. Got me thinking.. good work so far.

                                GAME RECAP

The FIU Panthers are still searching for answers. After a (5-1) start the Panthers have no dropped 3 straight games at home dropping to (5-4) on the season with 3 games left to play.

Looking at the stats column you have to ask how did FIU lose? They won the TOP Battle, they had more yards both rushing and passing, they even went a perfect 3 for 3 on 4th down conversions, but at the end of the game the scoreboard read (35-23)..

Tied (7-7) at the 2nd of the 1st Quarter, FIU took at (17-7) lead into the locker room as Keyone Jenkins throws his 2nd TD of the day hitting SR TE Rocky Beers on a 21 yd strike with under 30 seconds to play in the half, leaving the Flames to just kneel off the remaining time.

FIU would extend the lead to (20-7) on the opening drive as FR Issac Glennon connects on a 33 yd FG, then later in the 3rd, Coach Miller would send out Glennon again after a failed 3rd and 2 run, and Glennon delivers with a 45 yd boot that had some mustard left on it. (23-7).

                                Coach Miller
"I think the ball went 60 yards... I know this kid is going to hit a big one for us before his career is done"

Liberty however wasn't going down without a fight and QB Kaidon Salter (96 Ovr) was about to show why his name is still among the Top-5 discussion for the Heisman.

Salter starts with a 75 yd bomb to SR Reese Smith (78 Ovr) to make it (23-14).. Then after forcing a FIU punt, Salter and Smith hook up for TD #2 (23 yds) to cut the lead to (23-21) early in the 4th. Another forced punt by the Flames would give Liberty the lead (28-23) midway through the 4th Quarter as WR Victor Jones Jr (77 Ovr) takes a Jet Sweep 10 yds for the score.

FIU needing a touchdown would drive the ball 80 yds on 8 plays but play #9 a 12 yd TD pass intended for Kyle McNeal is tipped and drops in the hands of FR CB Ronald Moore JR (79) as Liberty takes over at the 20 yd line with 2:28 to play in the game.

Despite having the 5 point lead, Liberty didn't just try and run out the clock. Salter and Smith were not done as the duo hooks up for another score giving them the hat trick and the 12 point lead with just 22 seconds to play.

                                Coach Miller
"I know some of our fans and even some of our players were not happy with Liberty scoring that final touchdown, but I have to be honest, I am a big believer in playing your game until the final seconds are off the clock. Our Defense played the run great all game so much that Salter only ran 3 times and gained just 6 yds, so I can't fault him for throwing the ball. Our Pass Defense has been pretty weak all season and it's something that will need to change before the end of the season or we will need to make a change"
Salter ends the day 14/22 (63%) for 273 yds and the 3 TD's. Smith led the Flames with 4 rec for 155 yds and the 3 TD's
