LEFT - In a game of turnovers Nick Wade was able to make magic with an 88 yard TD pass with 51 seconds left in the 1st half.
CENTER - Notre Dame had all of the momentum with 10 straight points to end the 1st half and a 12 play drive to open the 2nd, but then Tucker Colman came up clutch in the endzone to kill the Irish scoring opportunity.
RIGHT - Up 24-17 in the 4th Q Cuse turned to JC Hoag to finish the game, bu after an explosive 22 yard run the Irish defense forced a rare fumble on the standout sophomore.

Syracuse, NY. - In a game filled with turnovers, explosive plays, and a gritty second-half defensive effort, the top-ranked Syracuse Orange (4-0) held off a strong challenge from #19 Notre Dame (3-2), securing a hard-fought 31-24 victory at the JMA Wireless Dome.

The afternoon started ominously for Syracuse, as quarterback Dennis Seri’s first pass of the game was intercepted by Notre Dame free safety Anfernee Ochoa. The Irish capitalized immediately with a 49-yard pass to set up an 8-yard touchdown run by Shawn Ford. On the ensuing possession, Ochoa struck again, intercepting Seri in the red zone and killing a promising Syracuse drive. The Orange defense responded in kind, forcing a turnover of their own, but the offense failed to fully capitalize, settling for a 27-yard field goal from Desmond Brewer.

Syracuse finally found its rhythm on the ground in the second quarter. A 41-yard scamper by Spencer Vernon set up a 5-yard touchdown run from Seri, giving the Orange their first lead at 10-7. The momentum continued as the Syracuse rushing attack, led by JC Hoag and Seri, methodically pushed the ball downfield. Hoag capped the drive with his own 5-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 17-7 with just over a minute remaining in the half.

However, Notre Dame struck back quickly, with quarterback Nick Wade evading pressure before finding Bobby Johns for an 88-yard touchdown that silenced the home crowd. Ochoa then snagged his third interception of the half, setting up another Irish scoring opportunity. Wade completed three quick passes to move Notre Dame into field goal range, where Sam Sturgis drilled a 45-yarder to tie the game at 17 as the first half expired.

Despite Syracuse’s dominance on the ground—racking up 208 rushing yards in the first half alone—three interceptions prevented the Orange from building a comfortable lead.

Notre Dame received the ball to start the second half and methodically moved down the field on a 12-play drive. But just as the Irish seemed poised to take their first lead since the opening quarter, Wade forced a pass into the end zone, and Syracuse safety Tucker Colman came up with the interception to shift the momentum.

With a second chance, Seri found his rhythm, completing passes of 19, 21, and 16 yards before hitting Vernon for a 7-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, giving the Orange a 24-17 lead.

Early in the fourth, Syracuse had a chance to put the game away, but a rare fumble by Hoag on what would have been a 22-yard run gave Notre Dame a lifeline. However, the Syracuse defense responded by forcing a three-and-out, and on the ensuing Irish possession, Dalvin Holley recorded his second interception of the game to put the Orange in prime position.

Syracuse leaned on its power run game to chew clock, but when faced with a 3rd-and-goal from the 1-yard line, they went to the air, as Seri found Mateo Chickillo for a 1-yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 31-17 with under two minutes remaining.

Wade and the Irish launched a furious final drive, completing seven of eight passes and capping it with a 9-yard touchdown to James Silvestro with 53 seconds left. However, the comeback bid fell short when Notre Dame failed to recover the onside kick, allowing Syracuse to run out the clock and escape with the victory.

The Orange racked up 290 rushing yards, led by JC Hoag (161 yards, 1 TD) and Spencer Vernon (93 yards), while Seri bounced back from his early struggles to throw for two touchdowns and run for another. The defense made the difference in the second half, forcing three turnovers to shut down Notre Dame’s comeback attempt.

Syracuse’s victory was made even sweeter by three key commitments from top recruits. 5-star WR Nolan Drake (#32 NAT) and 4-star WR Dalton Wear (#326 NAT) both informed Coach Nash Savage of their commitment after attending the game, while 4-star CB Vonn Thomas (#37 NAT) announced his decision on social media postgame.

Elsewhere, Savage’s former team, Ball State, continued its red-hot start with a 56-10 demolition of Buffalo, moving to 4-0 on the season.

Syracuse now turns its attention to a road matchup against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem next week, as the Orange look to remain unbeaten and solidify their place atop the rankings.

LEFT - Leo Tauscher was just out of reach from knocking away the 33 yard TD pass to Xavier Waller that tied the game at 10 out of the break.
CENTER - Spencer Vernon continues to be the X-Factor for Syracuse, with 126 all purpose yards and two touchdowns.
RIGHT - Paul Talib gave the Deacons a chance to go for the win after a late rally, but the failed onside kick left the Demon Deacons praying for a miracle.

Winston-Salem, NC. - Despite another rocky performance from quarterback Dennis “Scary” Seri, No. 1 Syracuse remained unbeaten with a gritty 24-17 road win over Wake Forest. Seri, whose turnover troubles have become a recurring theme, threw two more first-half interceptions, but the Orange defense held strong, limiting Wake to just a field goal while racking up four sacks and an interception of their own.

The Syracuse offense leaned heavily on the ground game, amassing 122 rushing yards in the first half—outgaining Wake Forest’s entire offensive output (99 total yards). Seri did manage to connect with Spencer Vernon for a 25-yard touchdown pass, and kicker Desmond Brewer added a 35-yard field goal to send the Orange into halftime with a 10-3 lead.

Wake Forest responded swiftly after the break, engineering a quick scoring drive behind running back Shaq Cage, whose consecutive 10-yard receptions set up a 21-yard run before Xavier Waller hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Paul Talib to tie the game at 10. Syracuse answered in kind, sticking to their dominant rushing attack. Seri’s 25-yard scramble, paired with tough runs from JC Hoag and Vernon, set up a 3-yard keeper from Seri to regain the lead.

The Syracuse defense continued wreaking havoc, adding two more sacks to force a Wake Forest punt. On the ensuing drive, Hoag gashed the defense for runs of 12, 19, and 14 yards, setting up another Spencer Vernon touchdown reception, this time from 16 yards out. The Orange had a chance to put the game away after Deon Stokley intercepted Talib, but two squandered possessions kept Wake Forest within striking distance. Talib led a late drive, converting a crucial fourth-and-10 with an 18-yard pass to Jeremy McNeil, before orchestrating a touchdown series that brought the Demon Deacons within seven. However, the comeback attempt fell short as Syracuse recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.

Elsewhere, Ball State survived a scare in a 35-32 win, nearly blowing a 35-7 lead after star QB Titus Awe exited with an ankle injury late in the second quarter. Fortunately for the Cardinals, Awe is expected to return next week.

On the recruiting trail, Syracuse continued to bolster its class with commitments from four-star T Jon Droughns (#195) and four-star CB DJ Booker (#186). Next up, the Orange travel to Acrisure Stadium for another ACC battle against the Pitt Panthers.

The running game continues to be our saving grace. Not sure what's happened lately, I haven't adjusted the sliders since the start of the season, but some of the interceptions are puzzling. Scary Seri might not be long in the starting job if it keeps up. Part of the problem is I'm still not used to the lefty, so some of the throws I make on the move to pull defenders doesn't work, cause then he's all turned around. Or at least that's what I tell myself

LEFT - Felix Redwine taunting the Pitt D after his 80 yard TD extended Syracuse's massive 1st half lead.
CENTER - Jason Veasy launching himself in QB Mac Munyer to tally one of his 3 1/2 sacks on the evening, his 2nd straight 3+ sack outing.
RIGHT - Deon Stokley took Mac Munyer's night from bad to worse after housing his 2nd INT of the game.

Pittsburgh, PA. - The top-ranked Syracuse Orange (7-0) flexed their dominance on both sides of the ball in a 59-6 demolition of the Pittsburgh Panthers (2-5) at Acrisure Stadium. Running back JC Hoag spearheaded a relentless rushing attack, piling up 205 yards and three touchdowns, while the Syracuse defense suffocated Pitt, allowing just 180 total yards and recording five sacks.

Syracuse wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead behind a balanced offensive onslaught. Dennis Seri connected with Felix Redwine for an 11-yard score to open the floodgates, followed by a 42-yard touchdown run from Hoag and a 20-yard scamper from Spencer Vernon.

The second quarter brought more of the same, as Hoag continued to punish Pitt’s defense with touchdown runs of seven and eight yards. Seri then launched an 80-yard bomb to Redwine, further silencing the home crowd and giving the Orange a commanding 42-0 halftime lead.

Defensively, Syracuse overwhelmed Pitt’s offensive line, sacking quarterback Mac Munyer four times in the first half alone. Jason Veasy led the charge with three sacks, while Deon Stokley added an interception. The Orange outgained Pitt 378-38 in total yardage before halftime, holding the Panthers to just 10 rushing yards.

Pittsburgh finally got on the board in the third quarter when Dallas Bragg knocked through an 18-yard field goal. The Panthers had driven inside the Syracuse 5-yard line, but after back-to-back stuffed run attempts, head coach KC Keeler elected to kick on 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line—a decision that drew loud boos from the home crowd.

Syracuse responded with another dominant fourth quarter. Kicker Desmond Brewer tacked on a 25-yard field goal before Stokley put the game completely out of reach with a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown. Trenton Gilliam’s 34-yard touchdown run sealed the rout. Pitt added a late 24-yard field goal from Bragg, but it was far too little, too late.

Syracuse finished the game with a staggering 537 total yards (335 rushing, 202 passing) compared to Pitt’s 180 (135 passing, 45 rushing). Hoag led the way with 205 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Vernon contributed 66 rushing yards and a touchdown, adding 49 receiving yards. Seri was efficient, throwing for 202 yards and two scores.

Defensively, the Orange tallied five sacks, two interceptions, and held Pitt’s run game in check all afternoon.

Despite the dominant performance, Syracuse missed out on landing five-star cornerback Jeremy Coat (#9 overall), who chose to stay in Florida and commit to the Gators—marking the second major recruit to opt for Florida over Syracuse.

Elsewhere in college football, Ball State rebounded from a close call last week with a resounding 45-10 victory over Bowling Green in MAC action.

Syracuse now heads into its bye week before returning home to face Virginia Tech at the JMA Dome.

The fact that V.T. is 3-4 with a QB who has thrown 20 TD and just 3 INT makes me believe their Defense sucks which means I am predicting a win by 28 or more.

Somewhat funny that V.T. just won the Natty in my Dynasty.. They don't seem to be as good in yours.

They hang around the Top 25 and have won some games against ranked teams, just aren't consistent enough. They were ranked #21 to start the season iirc and were ranked in the 20s when I played them last year I believe

Run game has taken the pressure of Scary Seri lol hopefully he can keep playing game manager and we don't need him to play hero ball

LEFT - Felix Redwine put the Orange up for good with a 67 yard TD in the 1st Q.
CENTER - Brian Marvin had two clutch TDs in the 4th Q as the Hokies desperately tried to come back.
RIGHT - Leo Tauscher with the clutch INT, returning the ball to the Hokies 9 yard line setting up Simms' 9 yard TD catch and a 21-3 Orange lead at the break.

Syracuse, NY. - The second-ranked Syracuse Orange (8-0) extended their undefeated season with a 34-17 victory over Virginia Tech (3-5) at the JMA Dome, holding off a late surge from the Hokies behind a strong defensive effort and another powerful rushing performance from JC Hoag.

Virginia Tech struck first after Dennis Seri threw an early interception, setting up a 41-yard field goal from John Homer to give the Hokies a brief 3-0 lead. However, Seri quickly redeemed himself, launching a 67-yard touchdown strike to Felix Redwine on the next possession to put the Orange in front.

After a defensive battle for much of the second quarter, Seri orchestrated a methodical drive, capping it off with a five-yard touchdown pass to Spencer Vernon with just 48 seconds left in the half. The Hokies, looking to answer before the break, got aggressive, but their deep shot was intercepted by All-American safety Leo Tauscher, who returned it to the Virginia Tech 9-yard line. Seri capitalized immediately, finding Carlos Simms for a nine-yard score as Syracuse struck twice in the final minute to take a commanding 21-3 lead into halftime.

The Orange extended their lead in the third quarter with a 38-yard field goal from Desmond Brewer, seemingly putting the game out of reach as their defense continued to smother the Hokies’ offense.

Virginia Tech finally came alive in the fourth, as quarterback Ben Smythe connected with Brian Marvin for two touchdowns, cutting the deficit to 27-17. However, after the Hokies failed to recover an onside kick, Syracuse leaned on Hoag to put the game away. The star running back ripped off a 36-yard run, followed by a five-yard carry, before punching it in from 12 yards out to seal the win.

Syracuse’s defense played a pivotal role, forcing two interceptions and shutting down the Hokies until the fourth quarter. Tauscher’s first-half interception was a game-changing moment, while the Orange pass rush kept Smythe under pressure for much of the contest as they collected four sacks.

Ball State continued their impressive run, securing their eight straight win with a dominant 42-7 victory over Miami University in the Red Bird Rivalry.

Up next, Syracuse hits the road for a matchup against the 5-4 West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown, looking to keep their perfect season intact.

LEFT - WVU HB Tyrell Sands with the thundering stiff arm to break free on a 71 yard scamper to open the scoring for the Mountaineers.
CENTER - JC Hoag continues to be a work horse with another 193 yards and 2 touchdowns, leading the nation in rushing yardage.
RIGHT - Michael Sharp rallied the Mountaineers, pulling within a score in the 3rd quarter. The Orange would pull away before Sharp put up a consolation touchdown late in the 4th.

Morgantown, WV. - The top-ranked Syracuse Orange remained undefeated with a dominant 42-21 victory over West Virginia in Morgantown, using a strong rushing attack and relentless defense to pull away late. The game opened with an action-packed first quarter, as Syracuse struck first with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Dennis Seri to Spencer Vernon. West Virginia responded immediately, with Tyrell Sands breaking free for a stunning 71-yard touchdown run just 15 seconds later. However, the Orange regained control before the quarter ended, as Vernon found the end zone again—this time on the ground with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Syracuse extended its lead to 21-7 just before halftime when Seri took matters into his own hands, scrambling for a 20-yard touchdown run. West Virginia kept things close in the third quarter, as Michael Sharp connected with Kevin Lodish for an 11-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 21-14. But when the Mountaineers failed to convert on a crucial fourth-down attempt in the fourth quarter, the Orange seized full control. Seri capitalized by finding Jeffrey Franz for a 10-yard touchdown, stretching the lead to 28-14.

With momentum on their side, Syracuse continued to pound the ball on the ground, as JC Hoag added two more rushing touchdowns, first from 19 yards out and then a 3-yard plunge in the final seconds. Hoag dominated the Mountaineers’ defense, finishing with 193 rushing yards and two touchdowns. His performance pushed his season total to 1,322 yards and moved him past Larry Csonka for fifth place on Syracuse’s all-time rushing list with 3,059 career yards. On the defensive side, Jason Veasy continued his terrorizing season with another three-sack performance—his fifth multi-sack game of the year—bringing his career total to 32, now third in school history. Overall, the Orange defense racked up five sacks, stifling West Virginia’s passing attack.

Meanwhile, Ball State remained perfect, improving to 9-0 with a convincing 41-17 win over Ohio. Syracuse now returns home to the JMA Dome—recently ranked the 24th toughest place to play—for a crucial matchup against a 6-3 Miami team looking to shake up the playoff race.
