Insta Commit is amazing got to love landing a 5#
    Already
I saw it gone down going into the offseason and can't understand why. I didn't replace any coordinators, but I guess contract length plays a part in it and technically Savage is on his last year, so I guess that negatively impacted it? Weird lol

and yeah when I saw the 5* insta commit I was shocked. That alone is worht the 48 coaching points

Syracuse Rolls Florida In Aflac Kickoff

As Marc Jackson would say, "Mama there goes that man!" Jason Veasy missed out on All-American honors and seemed to take it out on the Gators with 3 sacks and 6 TFLs, moving him within 1/2 a sack of the NCAA career sacks record.

LEFT - With a nickname like "Himmanuel", you kno the hype train is in full force. Even so, Hendrix probably outplayed the expectations of even the most devout Orange faithful with a 360 yard, 5 TD opening performance.
CENTER - Darrell Combs was able to scrap together two touchdowns in the 4th Q, including this 66 yard bomb to Damion Weathersby, in an otherwise mediocre night for the senior QB.
RIGHT - JC Hoag picking up right where he left off, leaving defenders flailing as he racked up 205 yards and 3 TDs.

Atlanta, GA. - The reigning national champion Syracuse Orange opened their title defense in emphatic fashion, steamrolling No. 12 Florida 63-14 in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Freshman quarterback Immanuel Hendrix wasted no time proving why he was the crown jewel of Syracuse’s recruiting class, delivering a near-flawless debut in his first collegiate start.

Hendrix set the tone immediately, leading a crisp opening drive that culminated in a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jeffrey Franz on fourth-and-three. He followed that with a 28-yard strike to Danny Pace to put the Orange up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. The onslaught continued in the second, with Hendrix tossing two more touchdown passes—one to Tyrell Sands from 15 yards out and another to Pace for 47 yards—while JC Hoag punched in a 13-yard rushing score to push the lead to 35-0 at halftime.

Syracuse’s suffocating defense, known as the “Cuse Crushers,” wreaked havoc on Florida’s offensive line, sacking Gators quarterback Darrell Combs six times. Defensive end Jason Veasy was particularly dominant, recording three sacks and six tackles for loss, bringing his career sack total to 44.5—just half a sack shy of breaking the NCAA career record set by Jaylon Ferguson in 2018.

The third quarter saw more of the same as Hendrix connected with Dalton Wear on a 60-yard touchdown bomb before Hoag barreled in for his second touchdown of the night, extending the lead to 49-0. Florida finally got on the board in the fourth with a short touchdown pass from Combs to Mike Rambo, but Syracuse responded immediately as Hoag found the end zone for the third time. Sands tacked on another rushing touchdown before the Gators salvaged a final highlight—a 66-yard touchdown pass from Combs to Damion Weathersby—closing the scoring at 63-14.

Hendrix, dubbed “Himmanuel” by The Daily Orange, lived up to the hype, finishing 23-of-28 for 360 yards and five touchdowns. His poise and decision-making stood out, spreading the ball to nine different receivers. Meanwhile, Hoag dominated on the ground with 205 yards and three scores.

Head coach Nash Savage praised his young quarterback’s composure, noting that most freshmen tend to lock onto a single target, but Hendrix showed maturity beyond his years by distributing the ball effectively.

Syracuse will now head back to the JMA Dome for their home opener against Penn State, while Ball State, fresh off a landmark 48-35 victory over Notre Dame, will return home to defend the Bronze Stalk Trophy against Northern Illinois.

Wow.. Great Week 1 for both teams..

Huge day for Hendrix and Hoag. Looks like Hendrix did a great job of spreading the ball around and just making smart throws and letting the scores come to him.

Big win for Ball State showing the Irish who Top Dog is in Indiana..

The score against Florida started getting out of hand thanks to two interceptions in the 4th quarter giving me a short field to work with. And yeah, Hendrix was great. Seeing where the blitz is coming from with the Gold FG definitely helped and since it was a neutral site there were no squiggles. We'll see how he holds up when we got into Clemson's Death Valley. Seri did start his career with an 8/9, 4 TD performance....

And yep a monkey off the back moment for Ball State. When I threw two 2nd half interceptions to help them climb back from down 28-7 it felt like "here we go again." But shook of the INTs with a late clutch drive then the defense stepped up, the last score came in the final minutes as Duval ran in a long touchdown.

The 'Cuse Crushers' came alive in the 3rd quarter, recording 6 sacks and scoring a defensive touchdown to spark the 28 point run, while Jason Veasy made history with a 4 sack performance, storming past Jaylan Ferguson's record of 45 career sacks.

LEFT - Joe Kosier gave CB Kevin Schweitzer fits this afternoon as the route running WR racked up 175 yards including this 54 yard touchdown to open the evening.
CENTER - Dalton Wear had his 2nd straight multi touchdown game, sealing the 'Cuse win with a 53 yard jet sweep to push the lead back to an insurmontable 10 points with just 1:51 remaining.
RIGHT - Despite the loss, Calvin Vaughn was prolific for the Nittany Lions, overcoming a disastrous 3rd Q to nearly will the Nittany Lions into a win.

Syracuse, NY. - Top-ranked Syracuse overcame an early deficit and a late Penn State surge to secure a 56-46 shootout victory in their home opener at the JMA Dome. Freshman quarterback Immanuel Hendrix dazzled once again, throwing for 258 yards and four touchdowns while overcoming two turnovers in a game that saw wild momentum swings.

Penn State struck first, with Calvin Vaughn finding Joe Kosier for a 54-yard touchdown pass to stun the Syracuse crowd early. The Orange responded quickly, as Hendrix connected with Dalton Wear for a 12-yard score. The Nittany Lions reclaimed the lead late in the first quarter on an Eddie Krosnodomskie goal-line plunge, putting them ahead 14-7.

After a Syracuse touchdown run from Trenton Gilliam tied the game at 14, Penn State looked poised to take control after forcing an Immanuel Hendrix fumble deep in Orange territory. However, safety Clyde Weaver turned the tide by intercepting Vaughn, and a late 75-yard touchdown strike from Hendrix to Felix Redwine just before halftime allowed Syracuse to close the gap to just 24-21 at the break.

The third quarter was all Orange. Hendrix found Carlos Simms for a 16-yard touchdown to give Syracuse its first lead, and Gilliam added his second rushing score of the night. The game’s biggest turning point came when defensive end Jason Veasy strip-sacked Vaughn, allowing Salesi Tuaolo to scoop up the fumble and score, capping a 21-0 run. Veasy’s monster performance—four sacks—helped him surpass Jaylon Ferguson’s career sack record, finishing the night with 48.5 career sacks.

Penn State, however, refused to go away. The Nittany Lions mounted a furious fourth-quarter rally, as Vaughn led back-to-back touchdown drives to trim the deficit to 42-39. With momentum slipping, Syracuse leaned on JC Hoag, who broke free for a crucial 24-yard run before Dalton Wear sealed the game with a 53-yard jet sweep touchdown. Penn State added a late score, but their onside kick attempt failed, and Hoag’s second touchdown run officially iced the game.

Vaughn finished the night with a staggering 432 passing yards and four touchdowns, while Hendrix showcased poise under pressure despite his two turnovers. The Orange defense finished with seven sacks, six of which came in a dominant third quarter.

Syracuse now turns its attention to a marquee matchup against No. 4 Texas next week before enjoying a two-week break ahead of ACC play.

LEFT - Safety Tyree Kight knocking the ball loose late in the 2nd quarter, setting up Hoag's 2nd TD and a 28-7 'Cuse lead.
CENTER - Texas QB Nick Jimenez was able to split the secondary, narrowly avoiding Clyde Weaver, for a 67 yard TD to keep Texas within striking distance going into the break.
RIGHT - After a Texas TD w/ 2PT conversion pulled the Longhorns within 16, the whole stadium thought Syracuse was going to run out as much time as possible. Instead, HC Nash Savage called for the killshot and a 68 yard TD from the freshman duo was the result.

Syracuse, NY. - Top-ranked Syracuse asserted its dominance over No. 4 Texas with a 45-28 victory at the JMA Dome, powered by a balanced offensive attack and a stingy second-half defense. The game remained competitive early, with both teams trading first-quarter touchdowns—Immanuel Hendrix found Dalton Wear for a 25-yard score, while Texas answered with a 33-yard strike from Nick Jimenez to Greg McRoberts.

The Orange began to pull away in the second quarter, sparked by a key forced fumble from Tyree Kight on Texas WR James Mazza. The turnover led to a one-yard JC Hoag touchdown, his second of the game, extending the Syracuse lead to 28-7. Texas briefly regained momentum before halftime with a 67-yard touchdown from Jimenez to Kenneth Pullard, cutting the deficit to 28-14 at the break.

Syracuse’s defense made a statement to open the second half, intercepting Jimenez on Texas’ first drive. That turnover set up a 16-yard touchdown run by Trenton Gilliam, stretching the Orange lead to 35-14. The Longhorns tried to rally in the fourth, scoring on a one-yard run by Rafael Santos and converting the two-point attempt to make it a 16-point game. However, head coach Nash Savage wasted no time in shutting the door on any comeback attempt. On the next drive, Hendrix dialed up a deep shot to Wear, connecting for a 68-yard touchdown that sealed the win.

Hoag led the way on the ground, finishing with 208 yards and two touchdowns, cementing himself atop the Syracuse record books for career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. Hendrix was efficient yet again, delivering another multi-touchdown performance to guide the Orange offense.

In other action, Ball State continued its strong non-conference run, earning a 42-21 win over USC at the Coliseum despite another four-interception outing from Titus Awe.

With the victory, Syracuse moves to 3-0 and will now enjoy a two-week break before opening ACC play at home against Georgia Tech.

Looks like Hendrix has so far stayed away from throwing INT's and Gilliam has really stepped up to be a nice compliment to Hoag as the change of pace and receiver slot that Veasy covered.. Also looks like Wear has sorta earned that #1 WR role but Hendrix is doing a good job of spreading the ball around.. Hard to lose games when the offense is rolling like that.

He had one bad one against Penn State that could have really hurt us, but aside from that he's been solid. He got cold in that Penn State game after the INT and started sailing a lot of passes, so I'm curious to see how he performs against Clemson on the road.

Gilliam and Sands are great replacing Vernon. Gilliam is the 3rd down back, so he gets in on passing plays, but Sands is technically RB2 so whenever Hoag needs a breather he's in. Both have a good set of skills to complement Hoag and even he's getting involved on passing plays on occasion. I think that may be hurting his Heisman candidacy the last two years despite leading the league in rushing, he had 4 career catches lol.

Wear is fast and shifty, but not the greatest route runner. He's the slot WR but 5th on the DC, so he gets in on those designed slot plays usually. Jet sweeps and screens are his usual jam with the occasional slot fade or post. I got lucky that they only had 2 CBs on the bunch 3 WRs on that post play, and a safetyt can't keep up with Wear so it was an easy pitch and catch.

Nash Savage Joins The Daily Orange Podcast

Bryan Pittman: Coach Savage, welcome back to the program! Before we dive in, let me start with a huge congratulations—Syracuse is officially a national champion under your leadership in just your second year. What’s that experience been like for you?

Nash Savage: Appreciate it, Bryan. You know, it reminds me a lot of the reception in Muncie after we won there. The difference is, I didn’t really get to soak that one in since I was on my way to New York almost immediately. But the fan base here? It’s incredible. They’ve been starving for something to rally behind, and I think that shows—JMA Dome was just ranked the 20th most difficult place to play in the country. That’s a direct result of the energy these fans bring. And with the talent we’re bringing in, I plan on making sure they stay spoiled for a while.

BP: Speaking of talent, let’s talk recruiting. The 12th-ranked player in the country, defensive end Nate Pitoitua, committed to Syracuse before even taking a visit anywhere else. That’s got to speak volumes about where this program stands, right?

NS: No doubt. Nate’s a Buffalo kid, and from the moment we started talking, it was clear playing for Syracuse was always his dream. But yeah, landing a top-tier recruit before he even looks at another school? That’s a testament to what we’re building. Players see the culture, the success, the energy around this program, and they want in.

BP: You mentioned culture, and I want to touch on that for a second. Your former program, Ball State, is on its third head coach since you left, but they’re still winning—both in and out of conference. Do you see that as a reflection of the foundation you built?

NS: Absolutely. The seniors on that team were part of our national championship run. Guys like Cortez [Duval] and Legend [Ogbogu] were key pieces. They know what it takes to get to the top because they lived it. That expectation and work ethic—it doesn’t just vanish when a coach leaves. And credit to the staff there, despite the turnover, they’ve kept that standard high.

BP: With Ball State now moving into the Big 12, do you think they’ll finally get some stability at head coach?

NS: That’s a better question for Mark Stoops or AD Jeff Mitchell, honestly. I’d hope so, but coaching is a tough business. You never know what’s best for each individual.

BP: Fair enough. Let’s get back to Syracuse. We talked about Nate Pitoitua—are there any other major recruiting developments? If I’ve got my numbers right, you’ve got 12 seniors in this year’s class.

NS: That’s correct. And I’ve got some big news for Orange Nation—we locked in seven commitments over the last two bye weeks, including five-star tackle Ronald Russo.

BP: Huge! Who else is joining the 2031 Orange?

NS: We’ve got four-star defensive end Jake Hager (#327), four-star middle linebacker Tyler Klopfenstein (#90), four-star defensive tackle Taylor McCleskey (#338), four-star linebacker DeMar Smythe (#314), four-star middle linebacker Everett Wegher (#84), and four-star middle linebacker Mike Spears (#57).

BP: That’s some serious talent, Coach. With all the middle linebackers you’ve signed, are you trying to turn Syracuse into the new “Linebacker U” and take that title from Penn State?

NS: We’re trying to be Everything U, Bryan. But seriously, our 3-3-5 defense relies on versatility at linebacker and safety. We need guys who can drop into coverage, attack the run, and blitz. Think Isaiah Simmons at Clemson. That’s the type of athlete we’re looking for.

BP: Conference play kicks off next week—Georgia Tech at home, then a trip to the “Original Death Valley” to face Clemson. Both teams you haven’t faced yet. How does it feel to still be hitting new milestones in year three?

NS: That’s one of the best parts of this job. New teams, new challenges, new coaching matchups. Dabo’s one of the best in the business, and I’m looking forward to that chess match. But more than that, it’s another opportunity to remind recruits in the Carolinas who the top dog in the ACC really is.

BP: Let’s talk about that confidence. In your first season, you made headlines saying “The U” isn’t what it used to be. A lot of people saw that as bulletin board material before your Miami matchup. How do you balance confidence with giving opponents extra motivation?

NS: Bryan, it’s not bulletin board material if it’s true. I’ve played Miami three times now—twice with Syracuse, once in the playoffs with Ball State—and we’ve had the better team every time. Until they prove otherwise, I stand by what I said. Same thing with Florida. I told recruits last year that they’d regret picking Florida over us, and look what happened in our season opener—we dominated them.

Here’s the thing: I have absolute confidence in my team and my coaches. If I say something in the media, I know my guys will back it up. You’ve got to talk the talk to walk the walk, and that’s exactly what we do at Syracuse.

BP: Gotta love that energy, Coach. One last question before we go—what are your thoughts on the hype around Immanuel Hendrix?

NS: When you get a nickname like “Himmanuel” before you’ve even taken a snap, you know the fan base is fired up. He’s done a great job staying within himself, playing his game. Things got a little shaky against Penn State—his first real rivalry game—but he trusted his coaching, trusted his instincts, and pulled it out. As long as he stays focused on being the best version of himself every game, he’ll live up to every bit of that hype.

BP: Love it, Coach. Thanks for joining us, and best of luck as you start ACC play next week!

                          NS: Always a pleasure, Bryan.

Explosive 2nd Half Exterminates Yellow Jackets

After a punt left the Orange at their own 9 yard line, HC Nash Savage showed trust in his freshman QB, who read the zero blitz at the line and audibled to a go route for FR WR Dalton Wear, leaving the speedy receiver wide open for a easy 91 yard catch and run.

LEFT - Trailing 28-10 backup QB Dalton Eagles started to press, tossing tossing a mistimed curl route that was easily intercepted by SS Tyree Kight, setting up the 67 yard TD to Danny Pace and a 35-10 Cuse lead.
CENTER - Early miscues doomed the Orange with a failed 4th down conversion and over-throw INT in the redzone contributing to the sluggish start.
RIGHT - JC Hoag with his signature up and over TD for his 3rd touchdown of the contest.

Syracuse, NY. - Top-ranked Syracuse flexed its muscle in a dominant 42-17 victory over No. 13 Georgia Tech, riding a second-half explosion to remain undefeated. The Orange shook off an early defensive battle, unleashing an aerial onslaught behind freshman quarterback Immanuel Hendrix and a suffocating defensive front that overwhelmed the Yellow Jackets after halftime.

Both teams opened with methodical, clock-chewing drives, as Syracuse’s 14-play march stalled on a failed fourth-down attempt inside the Georgia Tech 10, while the Yellow Jackets countered with a 15-play series of their own, settling for a 36-yard Jay Baron field goal. The Orange responded with an aggressive deep shot, as Hendrix connected with freshman wideout Dalton Wear for 49 yards, setting up a short touchdown pass to Wear to put Syracuse ahead. After a five-yard touchdown run from JC Hoag extended the lead, Georgia Tech punched back late in the second quarter, with backup quarterback Dalton Eagles finding Daymond Gaskin for a 10-yard score. Syracuse nearly took a two-score lead into the break, but a red-zone interception from Conor Kush halted a promising drive, keeping the score 14-10 at halftime.

The third quarter, however, belonged to the Orange. After Georgia Tech’s opening drive sputtered near midfield, the Yellow Jackets pinned Syracuse deep inside its own 10. That didn’t faze Hendrix, who identified a Cover Zero look at the line and audibled to a go route for Wear, who torched the defense for a game-breaking 91-yard touchdown. From there, the floodgates opened—Hoag added his second rushing touchdown of the night, and Hendrix struck again with a 67-yard bomb to Danny Pace, giving the Orange a commanding 35-10 lead entering the final frame.

Georgia Tech managed a fourth-quarter touchdown from Eagles to Terrence Teague, but Syracuse slammed the door shut with a third rushing touchdown from Hoag. The Orange defense racked up six sacks and an interception, with four of those sacks and the pick coming in the second half as Syracuse turned up the pressure. Hendrix finished his stellar night 15-of-20 for 370 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception, while Wear posted a breakout performance with five catches for 208 yards and two scores. Hoag anchored the ground attack with 131 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries.

For Georgia Tech, Eagles impressed in relief, throwing for 356 yards and two touchdowns on 30-of-40 passing, but the Yellow Jackets failed to match Syracuse’s firepower.

Now sitting at 4-0, Syracuse shifts its focus to a massive road showdown with No. 11 Clemson, who will be looking to rebound from a tough loss to Virginia Tech. Adding to the momentum, the Orange secured nine new commitments over the weekend, pushing their 2030 recruiting class to 17 early-season signees. The newest additions include top-10 wide receiver Cam Darr, elite pass rusher Isaiah Largent from the Bronx, highly regarded quarterback Channing Dillard, and four-star cornerback Sharrif Williams, further solidifying Syracuse’s dominance on and off the field.
