Re: Beware The Blues...An OBG Production NHL 10
Hey, just dropping in to ask how well NHL 10 is for someone looking to chronicle their 2009-2010 season using this game. I've yet to get either NHL 10 or NHL 2k10, but I plan on chronicling my Flyers season and was wondering how well the game allows me to do that. Would I have to take notes for each goal using pen and paper, or will all that information be accessible during games and after games? I don't know how much experience you have with running a hockey dynasty, but I've found some games severely lack in helping you track all progress during a season while others are very good at it.
Any insight would be much appreciated! I singled out this thread because I recognized the username from many of conversation leading up to the release of the two NHL games.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

But as far as your questions...
it really depends on what kind of dynasty you are choosing to run. If you want to go game by game, of course you can look at the scoring summary when the game is done to get the stats, but if you want to get the current goals for each scorer for the season, you either have to have a pen ready as the on-screen scoring graphic will tell you how many goals the current scorer has OR do what I was doing when I was going game by game and look at the teams stats after the game in the franchise menu to get the current goal counts for the goal scorers.
The franchise also shows progress for the players as their attributes change over the course of the season...
one of the coolest things happened in my last game...
I was playing against Phoenix in the game right before the trade deadline and Thorne and Clemente commented that my Blues are currently a 5th seeded team and that the trade deadline is right around the corner...
it was an awesome little touch.
I dunno man...I recognize your screen name from over at 2khockey.net and I would honestly have to say that NHL 10 is the best hockey game I've ever played and don't buy into the BS that it is NHL 09.2...
thats crap...
I played NHL 09 for a month until I returned it...I hated NHL 09 and played NHL 2k8 (an awesome game) last year.
...but NHL 10 is really something special.
The trade deadline is very active as I will soon be posting but the good thing is that you can turn trades 'on' or 'off' at any time during the season as I like to do in order police or regulate the trading a bit.
I'd go with NHL 10, man...and there are tons of great sliders to choose from, although I'd try mine first. :wink:Last edited by onlybygrace; 10-20-2009, 04:38 PM.Comment

Re: Beware The Blues...An OBG Production NHL 10
I've never had as much fun with a game as I'm currently having with NHL 10...I'll put that out there first.
But as far as your questions...

As far as game, yeah, I was pretty sold on checking out NHL 2k10 first. But then as the games came out and reviews came in, I gradually swung to checking NHL 10 first. I do want to try out both, of course, because I'm sure there are pro's and con's to each that I want to experience, but I've made up my mind with picking up EA's offering first. I think what really pushed me is watching some of the NHL 2k10 videos and feeling like I'm settling for the crowd noise and oddities that have always plagued that series. Then when I watched NHL 10 videos, it seemed more put together. More appealing. The on ice action looks tight in both, so having a bit more polish was the dealbreaker for choosing NHL 10 over its counterpart.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Beware The Blues...An OBG Production NHL 10
I actually live in Michigan and love the Red Wings but my new favorite team is the Caps. Ovechkin reminds me of Bure but he can pass and hits like a freight train! My kind of player. It seems like either people love Ovie or hate him. No one seems to ever be in the middle. And like I said in an earlier post I'm following the Blues now too!
I am excited to get my season going but I was waiting for EA to update the rosters with the AHL players. Do you use EA's or someone elses? Also, I have been following your injuries with great interest. Last year I barely saw any and you seem to be getting a decent amount. What is your setting at? They seem really accurate and I like to use the depth of my team and farm team like you seem to do well at.
Thanks for your time and I'll keep following. The trade deadline was really intense with the Oshie injury! I was thinking you might make a move. I'm sure it's hard laying off tinkering with the roster at the deadline!Comment

Re: Beware The Blues...An OBG Production NHL 10
Blues Silent At Deadline
The NHL trade deadline came and went without a peep from the Blues as the team held onto its cards, confident in their position and stage as a franchise.
"We said going into the deadline that a deal was unlikely...and we meant it. Did we have a couple of tempting deals put before us??? You bet...but they weren't the right deals for the Blues. We're not going to be making deals to make deals", said Blues GM Larry Pleau.
The Blues are currently a 4th seeded team in the Western Conference and believe their real chance and best plan involves being patient with their homegrown talent and making only the deals that seem to be 'right' for the future, not the moment.
The Blues reportedly turned down a deal that would have landed them Brian Gionta, but no official comment has been made nor is one expected.Comment

Blues Bury Stars; Selanne Scores In Dallas Debut
The debut of Teemu Selanne and Kristian Huselius wasn't enough the slow down the St. Louis Blues who would topple the Stars tonight by a score of 6-3. The Blues would get a goal and 2 assists from TJ Oshie and a goal and an assist from Lars Eller as the Note improves to 36-25-3, good enough for 4th in the Western Conference.
Teemu Selanne scored his 30th goal of the season and added an assist in his debut for the stars after he was aquired, along with Kristian Huselius less than 24 hours ago on the NHL trade deadline.
Huselius was -1 in the game with 3 SOG.
Jay McClement scored twice for the Blues and Andy McDonald continues to play well, notching a pair of assists.

Perron Cleared To Play; Boyes Gets Demoted
The Blues David Perron is set to hit the ice against the Avs after missing 7 weeks of action with PCS. Perron will be playing on the second line despite an awful offensive season in which he has just 5 goals and 9 assists in 48 games.
"I'm glad to be back and surprised by Andy's decision to give me second line minutes after the season I've had so far", said Perron of his return.
The news of Perron's return came also with the news that Brad Boyes is going to be demoted to the 4th line as the winger has just 16 goals and 11 assists this season in 62 games along with a -13 +/- rating.Comment
