Sea of Gold: A Create a Team Be a GM (NHL10)

    Sports: Wednesday, July 12th 2009

    Phoniex Coyotes have been sold

Yesterday night the court has given the rights of the Phoenix Coyotes to the town of Winnipeg. The town of Winnipeg already owns the rights to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL and now add the rights of the Phoenix Coyotes. The city plans on moving the team to Winnipeg and renaming it the Winnipeg Outlaws. Many of the Phoenix coyotes current players have been upset by the move and are either leaving to one of the European leagues or retiring from hockey. In order to fill up the roster they added 15 players from around the world and filled up the other 7 spots with previous Yotes. The Coyotes have been in jeopardy of leaving the city of Phoenix for a while as they have not been selling as much as they should. Don Maloney has stepped down as the GM of the Yotes and reports say he will be replaced by Dale Hawerchuk. Dale played as a Jet for 10 years and lead the Jets in career points. He will now take on the job as the GM of the outlaws. Dave Tippet has also stepped down and the role of the coach has not been filled yet. The Outlaws will play in the 2009/2010 season. Hopefully this team will make Winnipeg and all of Manitoba proud.

Re: Sea of Gold: A Create a Team Be a GM (NHL10)

Hey this is my first ever dynasty so please give me advice and follow. I am playing on NHL 10 for the Xbox 360. I have made a team that consists of 15 players that either people on this board or my friends have created and 7 players who are from the Phoniex Coyotes. The Phoenix Coyotes are all not the best players so they shouldn't be fighting for positions. I am going to play 4 preseason (quick play) games and then the season. I will do full reviews for all 4 games. I will sim 5 games and then play one. When I do play a game it will be on Flyermania's sliders. I will do a recap once a month or if something big happens in this dynasty.

PLEASE RESERVE THE NEXT 3 SPOTS FOR MY DYNASTY

Outlaws hire new coach in Bob McKenzie

Yesterday, Dale Hawerchuk held a press conference stating that the Outlaws and Bob McKenzie have signed a deal to a 5 year contract. Before yesterday Bob McKenzie was previously one of the main hockey analysts for the TSN programs. He has covered many events such as World Juniors and more recently the 2010 Vancouver Ice Hockey events. Bob has been covering hockey for 28 years and is one of the most respected analyst out there. McKenzie recently won the Gemini award for Best Studio Analyst in 2008. Bob has also apart of the top 100 most powerful and influential people in the Game of Hockey 7 times. He will make a great coach for the outlaws and will hopefully be apart of the organization for a long time.

Re: Sea of Gold: A Create a Team Be a GM (NHL10)

Today the roster for the Winnipeg Outlaws have been made set. Bob McKenzie now talks about his roster.

        Goalies

        Logan Burns- HYB- 85 overall
        6'4, 218lbs, 3rd year in NHL

Logan will surely be a starter for us. We hope he will be able to be a key player this year in the season. The kid is a huge big guy but still has tremendous speed. The man is also a beast on rebounds. The only problem with him is that he just can't seem to stop a low shot on the glove side and his poke checks are terrible. We are trying to work with him on these issues.

        Shawn Gall-STD-73 overall
        5'11, 203lbs, 2nd year in NHL

Shawn will most likely be our backup this year in Winnipeg. This guy is in his sophomore year and had a decent year in the NHL last year for a backup. He will not get much playing minutes behind Logan. On the plus side he is good at stopping high shots on both glove and blocker side. On the minus basically every 5 hole shot is going in. He will likely only start around 5 games this season.

        Forwards

        Nathan MacDonald-Center- PLY-74 overall
        6'2, 215lbs, rookie

Nathan is one of the few rookies on this team and plan on developing him well. He has got good size at 6'2 and is a beast at the face-off circle. He can also pass very well and his wrist shot is that bad either. He does lack agility though. He reminds me of a younger Joe Thornton. He will start the pre-season on the third line.

        Nick Ritt- RW-GRN- 78 overall
        5'7, 160lbs, 2nd year in NHL

Ritt will be a pain in the arse for any team to play against. He has great hockey sense. Despite his size, he can still play up there with the best of them. While I was talking to him the other day he said to me "Coach, I will go up there against Chara if I have to." Nick has a no quit attitude and will stand up for his teammates. He also has very good speed. He will start the preseason on the third line.

Peter Blake- LW- PWF- 81 overall
        6'1, 207lbs, 2nd year in NHL

Peter can play at both ends and can play it well. He has good hockey sense and can hit pretty well. His deflections are off the roof. It seems he can tip any shots possible if he wanted too. This guy has soo much passion for hockey and you can tell. He will give his 100% every game. The only problem for him is that he isn't the most accurate guy but makes up for it in his power. He will start the preseason on the first line.

        Patrick Smith- C-PLY- 86 overall
        5'7, 198lbs, 4th year in the NHL

Patrick is a great player period. He has had good sucess in the NHL the last three years with the St. Louis Blues but when his entry level contract expired he wanted to come home to Winnipeg. This guy has a pass that gives Thornton a run for his money. He has great hockey sense and get to full speed very fast. His slap shot isn't the best though. He is a great addition to my team. He will center the first line.

        Peter Carey-C- SNI- 77 overall
        5'10, 177lbs-rookie

Peter is only 18 but yet shows glimpses of greatness. He has great wrist shot and can win faceoffs. He also is one of the fastest players in the league. He isn't the best at checking though. His slap shot isn't the best. And he gets tired really fast. If we could fix those issues he could potentially win the Calder. He will start the preseason on my second line.

Ethan Hart- C- PLY- 83 overall
        6'6. 210lbs, 3rd year in the NHL

Ethan provides some much need size on this team with his 6'6 body. He will be a force because he can pass, check, and is very fast for his speed. He doesn't have the best shot though. He also seems to be injured very often. If we can make him more durable and make him shoot better then he might make his way to the first line. He will currently center my 2nd line in the preseason.

Mathew Clark- RW- GRN- 80 overall
        5'11, 185lbs, 3rd year in NHL

Mathew is a great player for our team and we plan on using him to his fullest. He can pass, and has a wicked wrist shot for a Grinder. He cannot hit that well though. Clark has one of the best endurance in the league so he will be a beast on the penalty kill. He will start the preseason on the 2nd line.

Jamie Feliner- LW- PLY- 77 overall
        6'0, 190lbs, rookie

Jamie is our third out of 4 rookies on the team. Feliner probably is the calmest out of all 4 rookies though. He has a great pass, wicked wrist shot, and amazing discipline for a rookie. The discipline is what mainly attracted me to get him on our team. The only problem with him is his slap shots which are pretty mediocre. He will start the preseason on the 3rd line.

Johnny Spezza- RW- DNG- 81 overall
        5'11- 187lbs, 2nd year in NHL

Johnny is one of the fastest players I have ever sen, he is like lightning. He also has a very good wrist shot and pretty good deking. I can see his having some very good plays this year. The problem with Johnny is that he is only really a offensive player. His defence is really his biggest weakness. Spezza couldn't check if his life depended on it. He will start on the first line and play big minutes on the powerplay.

Tyrone Isaiah- LW- TGH- 72 overall
        6'5, 230lbs, 7th year in the NHL

Tyrone's job on my team is to make the other teams life a living ****. He can hit, fight, taunt and he knows it. Basically though once you get past that he isn't the strongest player in either the offensive or defensive roles. He will start the preseason on the fourth line. He is also the oldest player on the team.

        Defense

Mikko Holopainen- Def D- 79 overall
        6'3, 210lbs, rookie

Mikko is my 4th of 4 rookies and is the best overall of them. He can hit, pass, and shot block very well and will get lots of time on the PK. The one problem with him is his speed and agility but trust me that our trainers will work on him everyday to make him faster. He will be part of my 1st defensive pairing.

Alex Gibney- Off D- 88 overall
        6'2, 215, 4th year in the NHL

Alex is the heart and sole of our Defense and is our defensive leader. He has a wicked slap shot that will make any goalie cringe and can still pass. He will play alot of time on the Power Play. His two problems are his puck control which I fear will lead to some breakaways and his shot blocking isn't the best. He will start in the first defensive pairing with Mikko Holopainen which I think will make both players perform better.

Rod Dermak- Def D- 75 overall
        6'4, 210lbs, 6th year in NHL

Rod is a great defensive player on our team who will get a lot of PK minutes. He has great checking, defensive awareness, and shot blocking, but his offensive skills are not very good. His age will also help the team and especially the rookies perform well. He will play on the 2nd defensive pairing with Keith Yandle.

Second line. I am looking forward to this. Should be great.

Also, awesome uniforms. I like them.

Suggestions would be to have a box score for the games. Can be something very simple too. Scoring by period, 3 stars.

Also every 10 games or so have a standings update for the division. Maybe a playoff race for the Conference too.

Yes first line D! By the way could you switch my number to #2? And I would use straight and clear visor. I can't wait to next updates. And great uniforms, but too much yellow (I hate yellow) I would used old Winnipeg's colors blue and red (I love blue for obvius reason)

I am doing a box score for the 1 game I play every 5 games so that way the season could progress faster. I will do a recap of the conference every 12 games. Also I am going to recap our teams and how much points we have once every quarter of the season.

Ok I will change your visor and number. I am not changing the uniform becuase I like gold. Also I already named ,y dynasty seas of Gold and Sea of Blue and Red doesn't sound as good.

BTW I was really busy today and din't get to NHL so I will do preseason tomorrow.

Bring It ZDENO!!! Cant wait for this to start
