Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Thanks for the comments guys.
I know, if I am around this offseason, keeping everyone will be hard to do. Roy was a FA last offseason and rejected a 3 and 2 year deal. Glad we got something for him instead of him ditching us in the offseason.Comment

2013-2014 Block 5 Update: 27-14-9, 2nd in EC
Tyler Ennis notched the 200th point of his young career on January 8th, 2014.
The 200 Club
BUFFALO, NY - Tyler Ennis' rapid goal scoring pace has slowed but he is still holding off Jason Pominville for leading scoring of the 2nd place Sabres.
On January 8th against a goalie that blanked Ennis and the Sabres earlier this year in Carey Price, Tyler scored a goal to get his 200th point of his NHL career.
After 50 games Ennis has 23 goals while Jason Pominville is second on the team with 19.
A 6-2-2 record in their last ten was good for Buffalo but not good enough to keep pace with the Winnipeg Jets, who appear poised to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions. The Sabres now sit four points behind Winnipeg in the standings.
Hodgson Returns and Re-Injures Self
Returning from a leg injury Hodgson stepped into his new role as the first line center after the trade of Derek Roy. His role will go back to Joel Armia for the next 10-14 days as Hodgson tweaked his groin in an overtime victory over Montreal on January 17th.
Miller Taking Backseat to Montoya
Al Montoya appears to be the new starter in net. Montoya extened his record from 11-8 at the start of the block to 17-10 by the end of it. Ryan Miller received two starts and lossed both giving up eight goals in those games.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
As for Miller, with Roy for Upshall shedding nearly 2.5 million in salary it's becoming a possibility we can keep everyone else on the roster but Montoya is playing better and Miller is not a backup goalie so we shall see what happens.Comment

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
2013-2014 Block 6 Update: 30-19-11, 4th in EC
Robyn Regehr took some aggression out on Jason Spezza; Regehr leads the NHL in hits.
Slumping Sabres
BUFFALO, NY - The trend continues. The Buffalo Sabres follow up a good block with a horrible one.
The Sabres went 3-5-2 in their most recent ten game stretch and opened the door for Montreal to catch the Sabres and bump Buffalo to fourth.
11 points back of Winnipeg, the top overall seed, which at one point seemed likley, is all but unattainable now.
Upshall Out With Separated Shoulder
The newest Buffalo Sabre is the most recent injury as Upshall injured his shoulder in the February 3rd victory over Toronto.
Regehr Lone All-Star
The NHL's leading hitter was the only Sabre to make the All-Star Game. While Regehr did not register a point he helped the East to their third straight victory over the West. Leading the Eastern Conference was Sidney Crosby who scored two goals in a 3-0 shutout victory.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
2013-2014 Block 7 Update: 35-24-11, 3rd in EC
Nathan Gerbe and Buffalo have had lots of success against the NHL's best team, Winnipeg, this year.
Down The Stretch They Come
BUFFALO, NY - Just twelve games left before the 2013-2014 Playoffs get underway meaning every point is vital. Especially the points you can get from teams above you in the standings.
Eleven months after they met in the playoffs, Buffalo vs Winnipeg is heating up again. On February 25th Drew Stafford netted a shootout winner to beat the Jets in overtime for their second victory over the Jets this season. Buffalo and Winnipeg will play two more times in the last twelve games.
The Sabres need all the points they can get to hold off the Montreal Canadiens who sit just a point back of the Sabres for the Northeast Division crown. The Habs and Sabres will meet March 14th in a game that could determine the division winner.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Sabres Bolster Blue Line; Acquire G Mike Smith At Trade Deadline
BUFFALO, NY - Are Ryan Miller's days in Buffalo officially over?
It appears so after Buffalo acquired goalie Mike Smith along with Brian Lee in a deal that saw Buffalo send RW Drew Stafford and their 2014 1st round pick to the Lightning. BUT Ryan Miller remains on the Sabres roster after no deals could be worked out that were to Buffalo's liking.
"We looked at deals with a few Western Conference teams," Buffalo GM Block M stated. "No one was willing to acquire Miller though for what we were asking. The only teams that were willing were Eastern Conference teams and we dont necessarily want to deal Ryan to the East. Now though, we have great depth in net and Miller and Smith can battle it out to see who gets dressed for the playoffs."
As mentioned D Brian Lee was also acquired in the Mike Smith deal as Buffalo also acquired D Ryan Parent and RW Brandon Kozun from Vancouver for a 2014 second round selection. Lee and Parent will be Buffalo's new third defensive pairing as Dennis Persson and Alexander Sulzer will be sent to Rochester.March 8th, 2014 Team Players/Compensation Team Players/Compensation LW Darcy Hordichuk, LW Luca Caputi and RW Tim Conboy C Jacob Josefsen, D Eric Gelinas and C Matt Cullen March 8th, 2014 Team Players/Compensation Team Players/Compensation LW Rostislav Olesz, a 2014 4th round pick and a 2015 4th round pick LW Mike Eastwood, RW Jerry D'Amigo and D Jeff Finger March 8th, 2014 Team Players/Compensation Team Players/Compensation RW Drew Stafford and a 2014 1st round pick D Brian Lee and G Mike Smith March 8th, 2014 Team Players/Compensation Team Players/Compensation 2014 2nd round pick D Ryan Parent and RW Brandon Kozun March 8th, 2014 Team Players/Compensation Team Players/Compensation D Marc-Anthony Zanetti D Dylan Blujus and a 2015 2nd round pick LW Curt Gogol and a 2015 2nd round pick Last edited by Block M; 05-07-2012, 05:22 PM.Comment

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Wow, dealing your top 2 picks for next year is definately a risky move - I hope it works out for you. But now you are stacked in the crease, good luck dealing Miller in the offseason.
Isn't D'Amigo a forward???Comment

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
We acquired Florida's first rounder so we're not selling the entire farm and yeah D'Amigo is a forward, I'll fix that.Comment
