![]() EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -The offense was on, Al Montoya was on, the Sabres were on. Knowing a big performance was needed the Sabres gave just that. Buffalo scored on their first shot of the game and never looked back. Joel Armia, Tyler Ennis and Ryan Parent all scored to push the lead to 4-0 and Thomas Vanek scored his second of the game to pour salt in the wound with just eight seconds left. Vanek's second goal pushed the dominating performance to 5-0. After giving up 13 goals in the four games of this series, Al Montoya has shut down the Devils. Montoya has allowed just one goal in the past two games which have been must wins for the Sabres. Montoya stopped 25 shots in the shutout victory that forces the series back to Buffalo for an epic game seven encounter. Last year Buffalo went to a game seven at home against Winnipeg but lost in overtime. With an overtime win in game six of their Eastern Conference semi-final, Winnipeg now awaits either Buffalo or New Jersey in the Eastern Conference Finals.

All The Way Back! Buffalo Wins Game 7
BUFFALO, NY - Could this be the year?
People of Buffalo are thinking it is after seeing their Sabres come all the way back from a 3-1 series deficit to eliminate the New Jersey Devils in Game Seven.
Another hot performance from goaltender Al Montoya blanked the Devils well into the third period. Long enough to allow a 2-0 lead to be established by the Sabres.
Thomas Vanek continued to do what he does best and scored early on in the game to give Buffalo the edge early.
After a scoreless second period, early in the third Christian Ehrhoff would enter the zone with possession of the puck and skate into the corner. Mike Cammalleri would float back to the blue line as the defenders followed Ehrhoff. Ehrhoff noticed this and found Cammalleri, who blasted a slap shot past Devan Dubnyk to put the Sabres up 2-0.
Al Montoya took his shutout all the way into the final minute when David Clarkson would score to give New Jersey 40 seconds to try and tie, and try they did. Al Montoya was required to make several saves in the finals seconds, with two pucks trickling just wide of the net as Buffalo sent New Jersey home and set up a rematch with the Winnipeg Jets in the Eastern Conference Finals.

My prediction is that its a Canuck V Buffalo in the Stanley Cup. Vancouver just smashed Colorado and took revenge on LA.
This is a nice match up if you ask me. Winnipeg V Buffalo. A rematch I think right? Shows some goodness here haha.NBA Fan and NHL Fan!!Comment

Yessir, a rematch from last years playoffs. Pavelec is always tough to score on so I am not as giddy about this match up as I was rounds one or two. Last years Stanley Cup, this seasons Presidents' Trophy....Winnipeg is on a roll. This will be a tough series.Comment

Monster 2nd Period Puts Jets Up
WINNIPEG, MB - It looked promising for the Buffalo Sabres. Jason Pominville put the team ahead 1-0 just two minutes into the series.
Cody Hodgson made it 2-0 six minutes in and Buffalo looked to be in control.
Until the second period that is. The defending Stanley Cup Champions responded in a huge way with three goals in a matter of five minutes in the second period. Goals from Bryan Little, Evander Kane, and Kyle Wellwood provided what would be the knockout punch as a deflated Sabres team was unable to manage many quality scoring chances the rest of the way.
The Buffalo Sabres lose the first game of a series for the first time in two years with the loss.

Winnipeg Blasts Buffalo In Game 2
WINNIPEG, MB - Game one was a close game that could have gone either way, game two was not the same story.
The Winnipeg Jets jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Nathan Gerbe scored to cut the lead to 3-1 in the second period. As the third period started it was absolutely vital for Buffalo to get the next goal but Alex Burmistrov had other plans putting Winnipeg ahead 4-1 in the first minute of the final period.
Cody Hodgson would put a wicked shot over the shoulder of Winnipeg goalie Ondrej Pavelec to make things interesting at 4-2 with 15 minutes left to play but wouldn't find the back of the net again. Bryan Little put in an empty netter to extend the score to 5-2 as Winnipeg took a 2-0 series lead with the series heading to Buffalo for game three.

Sabres Strike Back At Home
BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo needed to answer after falling behind 2-0 in the series and did with a big 6-3 victory in game three.
Goals from Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville, and Frans Nielsen put the Sabres ahead 3-1 midway through the game but the Winnipeg Jets would storm back with a pair of goals from defensemen Dustin Byfuglien and Zach Bogosian.
With nearly 13 minutes left in the game it was tied but Buffalo would control every second of the remainder of the game with Frans Nielsen's second goal of the game, a Christian Ehrhoff blast, and an empty net goal from Jason Pominville.
This victory sets up a pivotal game four for Buffalo with the opportunity to even the series before things shift back to Winnipeg.

Jets Dominate Their Way To 3-1 Lead
BUFFALO, NY - The Winnipeg Jets took back control of the series with a dominating victory in game four to put them one win away from returning to the Stanley Cup Finals.
The game went scoreless into the end of the first period but two quick Winnipeg goals before the break set the tone. Goals from Marc-Andre Bergeron and Chris Thorburn was the first goal of the playoffs for each player.
Early in the second period Blake Wheeler extended the lead to 3-0 with his ninth goal of the post season. Thomas Vanek would respond later in the period with his eighth of the playoffs but it would be the only goal of the game for the Sabres.
A third period goal from Zach Bogosian gave Winnipeg the 4-1 victory as they take a 3-1 series lead.

End Of The Road
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Jets will return to the Stanley Cup Finals to defend their championship from last year after another dominating victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
After Sabres rookie Luke Adam tied the game early in the second the Jets took over.
Two goals in 18 seconds deflated the Sabres and have the Jets a 3-1 lead. Just a few minutes later Nikolai Antropov extended the lead to 4-1 in the second period.
Thomas Vanek edged the Sabres a little closer with an early third period goal but as was the case the entire series, Winnipeg would be next to respond instead of Buffalo. Bryan Little pushed the lead to 5-2 which was too much to overcome as Buffalo was sent home for the second year by the Winnipeg Jets.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Winnipeg Jets Repeat As Champions!
WINNIPEG, MB - The second time is so much sweeter. Winnipeg hoisted the Stanley Cup for the second time in two seasons, but this time on home ice. The Jets dominated the NHL the entire regular season and made things look easy in the playoffs never going farther than six games.
In the Stanley Cup Finals the Jets ended the Cinderella run of the Vancouver Canucks who were buried in the standings much of the season only to make it into the playoffs on the last day of the regular season. As the eight seed Vancouver upset Los Angeles in the first round, swept Colorado in the second round, edged the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Finals but were no match for Winnipeg in the Finals being beat 4-1.
Just as last year winger Blake Wheeler won the Conn Smythe as the most valuable player throughout a long playoff run.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Block M Fired; Lands With Edmonton
BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo owner Terrence Pegula wants more.
More wins, more success, and more glory and he feels Block M is not the man to guide the franchise to that. So today he informed Block M that he would not be renewing his three year contract and he should seek other employment.
In three years with Block M as GM the Sabres won one Northeast Division Championship and went to the playoffs twice but were eliminated by Winnipeg both times.
The Sabres amassed a regular season record of 133-89-24 in the last three years.
Four teams were interested in hiring Block M as their new GM. Those four being Colorado, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, and Ottawa. In the end Block M decided he wanted to move out west to a team with a bright future and the east decision was Edmonton.
Block M and Edmonton agreed to a four year deal. Work beings right away with the 2014 NHL Entry Draft later this month.Comment
