Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Sabres Close The Door; Win Series in 6
TORONTO, ON - For the first time in seven years the Buffalo Sabres will live long enough to see the second round.
Winger Luke Adam started the scoring with his first of the playoffs but the Maple Leafs quickly countered as the game went to the first intermission tied 1-1.
In the second period Mike Cammalleri would be hauled down from behind and be given a penalty shot. Cammalleri would go backhand, forehand to beat Reimer and give Buffalo a 2-1 lead.
It would stay that way until the third period when Joel Armia would cleanly win a face off in the Maple Leafs zone back to defensemen Christian Ehrhoff and would quickly toss it across the ice to Tyler Myers who blasted the one timer into the back of the net for a 3-1 lead.
Not even a minute later Rostislav Olesz would bring Toronto back within a goal with over 14 minutes remaining but it was not meant to be as Al Montoya and the Sabres kept the Leafs from scoring again.
Montoya stopped 27 of 29 shots against him as he leads the team to the second round as a the starting goaltender for the first time in his career.

Nice job taking down the Leafs in 6 (that still sounds wrong saying) and good luck against Parise and his Devils.Comment

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
statistically, you are better then the Devils, winning in regular season, effective PP & PK. But anything can happen in the playoffs, I would say be careful right now, remember the leafs? You wooped them even though they had your numbers in the season..
Let's go Buffalo!!! Win the cup this year! History has already been made.NBA Fan and NHL Fan!!Comment

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Sabres Hold Off Rally In Game One
BUFFALO, NY - Robyn Regehr returned, and it appeared so did a potent offensive scoring attack.
Buffalo jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after goals from Mike Cammalleri and Brian Lee put the Sabres ahead just 13 minutes in.
New Jersey though, would chip away at the lead over the next two periods and eventually tie it. Travis Zajac cut the lead in half in the second period then Erik Christensen tied it early in the third.
It would be gritty Cody Hodgson that came up with perhaps the play of the playoffs for the Sabres so far to put Buffalo ahead for good. Hodgson would pressure the puck in the Devils zone and lay a shoulder into the puck carrier in the corner. This gave Hodgson possession of the puck as he cut towards center ice and rocketed a shot past Jersey goalie Devan Dubynk.
Another solid performance gave Al Montoya first star of the game as he stopped 26 of 28 shots in the game one victory.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Costly Hit Evens Series
BUFFALO, NY - The first period of game two between Buffalo and New Jersey was the classic hockey story of one team outplaying the other but somehow trailing on the scoreboard.
Buffalo came out in game two with an intensity that New Jersey could not match. The Sabres held the puck in the Devils zone for much of the first five minutes as if they were on a powerplay peppering New Jersey goalie Devan Dubnyk with shots.
At the end of the first the Sabres had gotten 17 shots on net, and New Jersey just six and somehow the Devils held a 1-0 lead.
It would not be until the third period a Jason Pominville blast tied the game at 1-1 but then a boarding call on Robyn Regehr changed the game. With Regehr ejected the Devils enjoyed a five minute power play and scored on it early after Zach Parise blasted a shot past Al Montoya.
Buffalo killed off the rest of the penalty and looked to get back into it by scoring the next goal but the next goal would be New Jersey's as well. Perttu Lindgren would score to make it 3-1 and an empty netter bumped the victory to 4-1 one as the Devils will now take the series back to New Jersey tied 1-1.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Bernier Sets Pace; Devils Go Up 2-1
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Steve Bernier had just one goal in seven playoff games.
In a matter of two minutes he tripled that tally. Bernier scored at 11:26 and 13:16 of the first period to quickly put Buffalo in a 0-2 hole.
With a lot of time left the Sabres had many opportunities to get back in the game and they did just that.
Cody Hodgson scored with just 12 seconds left in the first period to cut the Devils lead in half. Not even two minutes into the second period Jason Pominville's third of the playoff season tied things.
The two teams would battle for the series lead for much of the next two periods but New Jersey would come out on top when Zach Parise scored his third goal in two games to give the Devils the victory and 2-1 series lead.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Zajac Dagger Puts Sabres On The Brink
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Game four was a back and forth afair until the final minute.
After New Jersey forward Mattias Tedenby put the Devils up 1-0 it was just over three minutes later that Thomas Vanek tied the game. Zach Parise would get his fourth goal of the series just before the end of the first period to put the Devils up 2-1.
Joel Armia would hammer home a one-timer from defensemen Christian Ehrhoff to knot the game at 2-2 in the second period but seven minutes later an Ilya Kovalchuk wrist shot put the Devils back ahead.
Mike Cammalleri would tie the game 8:10 into the third period setting up an intense finish. At 3-3 in the final minute it appeared things were heading into overtime for the first time in this series but then Travis Zajac stuck a dagger in the heart of Sabre Nation with a one-timer goal with just 13 seconds left. An offensive rush saw Thomas Vanek's final shot attempt get deflected wide as New Jersey put Buffalo one game from elimination.

Re: Block M's Buffalo Sabres (NHL 12)
Sabres Not Done Yet
BUFFALO, NY - Down three games to one the door may be closing on Buffalo's season, but it wasn't going to shut in front of their home crowd.
Cody Hodgson quickly put Buffalo ahead by knocking in a loose puck in the crease but the second goal, coming near the end of the first period, let the New Jersey Devils know Buffalo wasn't going lightly.
Frans Nielsen would gather a puck at center and would split two defenders with a burst of speed as he crossed the blue line. With one defender left, Nielsen's speed was still on display as he looped around the final defender, fended off a push and deked NJ goalie Devan Dubnyk for a 2-0 advantage.
That display of skill and effort left HSBC Arena buzzing as the game hit the first intermission.
The second period would see no scoring but the first shot of the third period would find the back of the net. Tyler Myers put Buffalo up 3-0 with his second goal of the playoffs.
Buffalo would extend their lead to 4-0 with a Mike Cammalleri goal shortly after the Myers' blast. Devils forward Erik Chirstensen would break the shutout with a shot five minutes into the third that would end the scoring.
The Sabres will head back to New Jersey with a chance to even the series and put pressure on the Devils.
