Incredible start to the year, Ennis has really stepped his game up. Eight goals in ten games? Stellar play there.

It seems with these top six forwards, someone is always on a hot streak. Pominville and Vanek usually regularly, and now Ennis is starting to join those two with his goal scoring touch. That's good news for the Buffalo Sabres.

Yeah Luongo is a safe bet to be a stat leader in some category every update.

As for the Sabres, we had hot stretches last season and also had average/miserable stretches. If we limit those bad stretches hopefully we can stay in the Presidents Trophy mix.

            2013-2014 Block 2 Update: 13-4-3, 1st in EC
Carey Price stopped Buffalo cold with a 5-0 shutout.
            Leave It To Carey
BUFFALO, NY - The Sabres were 10-2-1, held 21 out of a 26 possible points and led the NHL.

            Carey Price was unimpressed.

Price blanked the high-scoring Sabres with a 33 shot shutout as Montreal had no trouble scoring and blew away Buffalo 5-0.

While Buffalo still leads the NHL after twenty games this encounter with Montreal will most definitely leave an impression on the Sabres. The Canadiens are not far behind Buffalo sitting in 4th with 23 points.

            Derek Roy On The Block?
Rumors suggest that Sabres captain and long time first line center is being shopped around after refusing to sign anything longer than one year contract in the offseason. With so many free upcoming free agents this could be the last season for Roy in Buffalo regardless of a trade.

                2013-2014 Block 3 Update: 15-9-6, 2nd in EC
A lot of Buffalo's struggles are being heaped upon the shoulders of long time net keeper Ryan Miller.
                Not Getting It Done
BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres were red hot to begin the year going 8-1-1 in their first ten games.

After a 2-5-3 mark in their last ten that hot start is just about negated as the defending champions, Winnipeg, have overtaken the Sabres in the standings.

Buffalo started the block by losing seven straight, pushing three of the losses to overtime or a shootout to manage just three points. To make matters worse star defensemen Tyler Myers was injured in the November 16th overtime loss to the New York Islanders and will be out a month.

Despite snapping the losing streak with back to back victories over Edmonton and Minnesota the string of bad luck continued when Myers' replacement, Brayden McNabb, suffered an MCL sprain and will also be out for nearly a month. This string of injuries has promoted D Drew Schiestel to the main roster.

Goalie Ryan Miller was in net for six of the seven losses and was pulled in favor of Al Montoya after the terrible stretch. Montoya was the net minder for the only victories of the block prompting some fans to call for a permanent change.

Seems like you hit a rough patch, but just keep the faith. Miller's a world class goalie and he can turn his game around hopefully. I wouldn't trust my franchise in Al Montoya, at the very least.

I totally agree with Moose here, when my Leafs had a bad stretch I kept my faith in Lehner and now they are on a 5 game winning streak. KEEP THE FAITH IN YOUR GOALIE..

Well I'll say this, I've already played the next block (report is half done, up tonight possibly) and I did give Montoya a shot. BUT it's hard to put a guy making over 6mil a year on the bench so we'll see how it plays out down the stretch.

                        2013-2014 Block 4 Update: 21-12-7, 1st in EC
It's a strange sight seeing Derek Roy in anything but a Sabres uniform.
Sabres Deal Roy In Surprise Move
BUFFALO, NY - As of December 11th, Derek Roy is no longer the captain of the Buffalo Sabres.

After many weeks of rumors, suspicions were confirmed as it was announced Derek Roy was headed to Florida in exchange for RW Scottie Upshall and Florida's 2014 1st round selection.

At the press conference announcing the trade Buffalo GM Block M stated there were several reasons the move was made. "First and foremost, we believe that Joel Armia is ready to be a full-time NHL'er. Thus, we could afford to deal away a player that has been a key center on our team for quite awhile," said Block M. "So when this deal was brought to my attention it made all the sense in the world. We shed salary and get a solid player and a first round selection in return. Also, it appeared Derek may have been souring on Buffalo as an organization and city so all parties involved get what they want. "

When asked who will be the new first line center, the GM didn't hesitate. "Cody Hodgson has proven to this entire team he is ready to be a leader," stated Block M.

The thing is though, Cody Hodgson was injured with a leg injury on December 2nd against New Jersey, the first of three straight wins to round out Roy's Sabres career. He will be out several weeks meaning you won't see the new look of the Sabres just yet.

                        The New Captain
RW Jason Pominville will pick up the 'C' and become the new captain of the Sabres. RW Tyler Ennis will replace Pominville as one of the two alternate captains.

                        Move Over Miller?
Backup goaltender Al Montoya received all ten starts in the most recent block as Buffalo pulled even with Winnipeg atop the NHL with 49 points. Montoya's 6-3-1 record leaves lots of questions in net for Buffalo.

Great trade imo, Florida getting a 1st excellent choice imo.

Florida may have 44 points right now and is 4th place, but I think near the end of the season, you'll get a high-good draft pick along with a decent player you've picked up from Florida.

And what the heck is wrong with the Canucks.. last place.

Probably headcase Luongo losing his mind.

                                Keep up the good work!
