    2021 EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS GAME 4

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Florida Panthers
    [TOR Leads 2-1]

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without Left Wing Alexander Steen and defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, as both are dealing with minor injuries, as the Leafs take on the Florida Panthers in game 4 at BB&T Center

Both attempted to play through but were a shell of what they were. Veteran Center David Backes will take Steens spot on the 4th line, despite the low chemistry with Nygard and Korshkov; the chemistry of the third line, Bratt-Compher-Vanek has been visible lately and wasn't something the coach wanted to disrupt.

On defense, Dion Phaneuf will play his first game since game 6 against Tampa Bay. He will slot in on the third pairing with Jonas Brodin

Florida will be without winger Frank Vatrano; he was injured in a fight against Jay Bouwmeester. Nick Shore will slot into the lineup. Henrik Borgstrom will take Vatranos spot on the second line

The Leafs look to build on the 4-1 victory in game 3 when they finally solved Bobrovsky

JESPER BRATT SCORES HAT TRICK; LEAFS CHASE BOBROVSKY

It was last reported that game 3 was the best game of the series. That statement was apparently premature; six different Leafs scored to five the Toronto Maple Leafs a 8-1 victory over the Florida Panthers in game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Final.

William Nylander would score the games first goal, once again assisted by Marner and Tavares, at 3:30. Johnathan Toews would tie it 36 seconds later. And that's when the Maple Leafs had enough

Beginning with David Backes first playoff goal this year at 11:13, the Leafs would score 7 straight goals. Kerfoot and Bratt would score at 13:59 & 16:49 to make it 4-1. Florida outshot Toronto 12-7 in that period

The second period saw one of the most suffocating defensive efforts ever. By the end of it, Florida had just 2 shots on net in the entire period.

Of course just because the Defense was doing well, doesn't mean the offense was taking a break

Early on Mitch Marner would be sprung on a breakaway. Skating up the wing and hoping to find Tavares or Nylander, he instead hit a streaking Morgan Reilly who buried it

Alex Tuch would score 2 minutes later and Jesper Bratt would add another at 13:07. The end of the second period saw the score be 7-1, the shots for that period was 15-2 in favor of the Leafs; overall 22-14 for the Leafs.

The third period saw Aaron Ekblad take an early hooking penalty. Florida was pretty aggressive in their kill, actually get a few shorthanded shots including one that should have gone in

30 seconds into the PowerPlay however, Jesper Bratt would complete the hat trick and that would be it for the scoring; Morgan Reilly would take a tripping Penalty with 10 seconds left

Sergei Bobrovsky made just 3 saves on 8 shots before getting yanked. In comes Charlie Lindgren, who had never played a NHL playoff game before. Well he did better than Bobrovsky but not enough as he let in a further 3 goals to finish with 15 saves on 18 shots

Frederik Andersen made 20 saves on 21 shots and the Toronto Maple Leafs look to finish off the series in game 5

          2021 Eastern Conference Semi-Final Game 5

Florida Panthers @ Toronto Maple Leafs
          [TOR Leads 3-1]

The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to finish off the Florida Panthers in game 5 at Scotiabank Arena; the Leafs haven't been to the Conference Finals since 2002 (a 4-2 series loss to Carolina).

Frederik Andersen was brilliant in game 4. Despite the low shots, all their chances were high danger chances. Of their 16 shots, 12 were from right in the slot.

Jay Bouwmeester will return to the lineup after dealing with his injury, however Alex Steen will miss the game

LEAFS CRUISE PAST PANTHERS; ADVANCE TO CONFERENCE FINALS

Frederik Andersen made 20 saves, and Auston Matthews & Alexander Kerfoot each finished with a goal and an assist to help the Toronto Maple Leafs down the Florida Panthers 5-1 in Game 5. The Leafs take the series 4-1 and will advance to the conference Finals for the first time since 2002; they'll await the winner of the Pittsburgh-Philadelphia series

Yet another scoreless first period prevailed. An interesting sidenote is that in all 5 games, no goals were scored in the first period. This despite the Leafs outscoring the Panthers 20-6.

The second period almost went scoreless, which would have been a first, had JT Brown not scored at 15:13 to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead

Well the Leafs weren't about to roll over and play dead; Kerfoot got the tying goal just 98 seconds into the period, knocking in a rebound from Alex Tuch.

Rasmus Sandin then scored his third of the playoffs at 9:03. Frederik Andersen would get an assist on this goal. 4 minutes later, Mitch Marner, once again assisted by Nylander & Tavares, scored to make it 3-1.

Auston Matthews would make it 4-1 less than a minute later on a dazzling slapshot.

Former Leaf Tyler Ennis would take a late tripping penalty; one that Alex Tuch made him pay for 10 seconds in for the final 5-1 score.

The Leafs head into the next round on a 4 game winning streak

                2021 Eastern Conference Finals

                Philadelphia Flyers
                Regular Season: 55-20-7. 307 GF, 233 GA
                Playoffs: 8-5-0. 43 GF, 39 GA

                How They Got Here:

Quarter Finals: 4-2 vs Washington Capitals
                Semi-Finals: 4-3 vs Pittsburgh Penguins

During the regular season, Philadelphia allowed the second fewest goals against (Washington, 227). Carter Hart was brilliant during the regular season. But he hasn't been able to get the same form. Although they're winning games, they're no longer the blowouts of old, and mistakes have cost this team

                Leading Scorers:

                Goals:
                Oskar Lindbolm - 6
                Saad/Voracek/Konecny/Baerstchi - 5

                Points:
                Sean Couturier - 14
                Travis Konecny - 12
                Oskar Lindbolm - 10
                Voracek/Giroux-Provorov - 9

                Plus/Minus
                Shayne Gostisbehere: +5
                Stepan/Sanheim/Spurgeon/Provorov/Lindbolm: +4

                Goalie Stats:

                Carter Hart: 13 GP, 7-5-0, 1 SO, .910%, 2.86 GAA
                Eric Comrie: 1 GO, 1-0-0

                Toronto Maple Leafs
                Regular Season: 54-22-6. 336 GF, 261 GA
                Playoffs: 8-4-0. 51 GF, 34 GA

                How They Got Here:

Quarter Finals: 4-3 vs Tampa Bay Lightning

                Semi-Finals: 4-1 vs Florida Panthers

The Leafs have finally left the Sunshine State. For the first time this round the Leafs will not have home ice advantage, as Philadelphia finished higher than the Leafs in the regular season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs led the League in goals for in the regular season by a considerable margin (30+). That scoring frenzy continued into the playoffs where they lead the playoff teams in goals for as well. The most impressive stat is the fact that the secondary scorers are averaging better than the stars. That's the main reason the Leafs are here

This series will truly be a Goliath vs Goliath

                Leading Scorers

                Goals:

                Tavares/Nylander/Kerfoot - 4

                Points:
                Mitch Marner - 17
                Tuch/Tavares - 12
                Nylander - 11
                Kerfoot - 10

                Mitch Marner: +11
                Morgan Reilly: +9
                Nylander/Matthews/Tavares/Korshkov: +8

Re: Cursebreaker (Toronto Maple Leafs NHL20 - Fun Only)

                  2021 Western Conference Finals

                  Winnipeg Jets
                  Regular Season: 51-27-4. 280 GF, 236 GA
                  Playoffs: 8-4-0. 40 GF, 29 GA

                  How They Got Here:

Western Conference Quarter-Finals: 4-1 vs Chicago Blackhawks

Western Conference Semi-Finals: 4-3 vs St Louis Blues

Winnipeg's defensive corps, although not the most prolific at scoring, has been able to shut down every offense it seems to face. This may prove to be Dallas undoing.

                  Scoring Leaders:

                  Goals:
                  Blake Wheeler - 6
                  Vesalainen/Scheifele - 5
                  Pitlick - 4

                  Points:
                  Blake Wheeler - 12
                  Scheifele/Ehlers - 10
                  Josh Morrissey - 9
                  Vesalainen/Laine/Krejci - 8

                  Plus/Minus:
                  Dillon/Pionk/Scheifele/Pominville: +4
                  Josh Morrissey: +3

                  Goalie Stats;

                  Connor Hellebuyck
                  12 GP, 8-4-0, .921%, 2.43 GAA

                  Dallas Stars
                  Regular Season: 38-34-10. 241 GF, 247 GA
                  Playoffs: 8-4-0, 35 GF, 32 GA

                  How They Got Here:

Western Conference Quarter-Finals: 4-1 vs Vegas Golden Knights

Western Conference Semi-Finals: 4-3 vs Vancouver Canucks

Coming into the playoffs as one of just two teams with more goals against than goals for (Chicago), many felt Dallas had no place in the playoffs.

Well they quickly silenced their critics by snuffing out Pacific-division leading Vegas in just 5 games, outscoring them 16-14 in the process.

They would then edge the Vancouver Canucks to continue their Cinderella run

                  Scoring Leaders

                  Goals:
                  Tyler Seguin - 9
                  Jamie Benn - 5
                  Martinook/Honka - 4
                  Anthony Duclair - 3

                  Points:
                  Tyler Seguin - 16
                  Jamie Benn - 13
                  Anthony Duclair - 8
                  5 Players - 6

                  Plus/Minus:
                  Jamie Benn: +7
                  Seguin/Duclair: +5
                  Klingberg/Kuhnhackl/Heiskanen: +4

                  Goalie Stats:

                  Ben Bishop
                  12 GP, 8-4-0, .912%, 2.60 GAA

                            Game 1 Preview

                            M1 Philadelphia Flyers

It's Goliath vs Goliath as the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Philadelphia Flyers in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals in Philadelphia

Toronto, having defeated Florida in 5 games last round, come into the series on a 4 game winning streak; the lines will likely remain mostly the same, with the only change being Alex Steen replacing David Backes on the 4th line

Toronto has the season series (3-0) over Philadelphia, outscoring them 13-8 in the process
