I play for fun. I don't use salary cap. That said I do try to avoid horrendous contracts.

Hyman is a UFA, one of the main reasons he's on the hot seat

MAJOR TRANSACTIONS ALERT

General Manager Kyle Dubas has made good on his word to pick up a Left Wing to play with Matthews & Tavares when he picked up LW Jesper Bratt from the New Jersey Devils and LW Jason Zucker from the Pittsburgh Penguins

In order to get Bratt, the Leafs packaged LW Conor Sheary and D Justin Holl. Conor never meshed as well as expected on the second line and a change of scenery should help him. Holl looked overplayed in the playoffs, and the emergence of Timothy Liljegren and Rasmus Sandin put his spot in jeopardy

The Zucker deal took a pretty penny to swing. The Leafs packed RW prospect Mikhail Abramov and Goaltender Anton Khduobin to ship to Pittsburgh. In addition to Zucker, the Leafs received the Penguins 2021 2nd Round Pick.

This of course leaves Andersen without a stable backup but fret not; the likes of Jordan Binnington, Robin Lehner, and Jacob Markstrom are available. It's possible the Leafs go for one of those big names to be the backup. Or does Dubas go for broke and sign the big name goaltender Tukka Rask, relagating Andersen to backup? Stay tuned to find out.

Leafs make splash at beginning of Free Agency!

The Leafs, looking to improve on a first round exit last year, added a number of high name players.

Leading the pack is new backup goaltender Jordan Binnington, for 1 year at least. Jordan is coming off a bad year, going 11-22-7, but with the Leafs improved defense and offense, it is hoped that Binnington can find his Cup-Winning ways as he projects to be a 1B with Andersen.

Speaking of improved defense, the Leafs added defenseman Jonas Brodin for 4 years. The Minnesota Wild defenseman scored 7 goals and 38 points last season.

And the offense? The Leafs solidified their secondary scoring by adding veteran sniper Tomas Vanek on a 1 year deal. He scored 21 goals and 47 points and a surprising +9 for a bad Detroit team.

SEATTLE GRIZZLIES MAKE HUGE SPLASH, SIGN TUKKA RASK

Tukka Rask is going out west. After not resigning with Boston, he was signed to a 4 year deal by the expansion team Seattle Grizzlies. This gives the team a bonafide number 1 goalie, if only for a few years, Rask is in his mid-30s.

This leaves Boston in a tight spot. The only goalies they have in contract is Cam Talbot (81ovr) and Artem Kapitanov (48ovr).
