Detroit Red Wings: Name Dan Bylsma new Head Coach.

        5/18/20

        Adam Schefter

Red Wings General Manager Steve Yzerman officially removed the "Interim Tag" from his new Head Coach Dan Bylsma this morning.

"Entering the 2020-2021 Season, Dan will be our official new Head Coach of the Detroit Red Wings." Yzerman stated.

Bylsma was named Interim Coach on January 6 this year after Jeff Blashill was fired.

Detroit was 10-30-2 on January 6 when Yzerman fired Blashill. However, the Red Wings faltered down the stretch going 5-31-4 under Dan Bylsma finishing with a 15-61-6 record.

"We had a rough year this year but I feel with a new voice in Dan Bylsma as Head Coach we can turn this around and bring some great Hockey to the City of Detroit again." Yzerman stated.

"I'm really excited to be given the chance to Coach such a legendary Franchise like the Red Wings. I would like to thank Steve for this chance and we can't wait to get back to work this Summer and start building a winning culture here again." Bylsma said.

Los Angeles Kings: Fire Head Coach John Stevens after back to back years of no Playoffs.

          5/18/20

          Adam Schefter

Despite being an Assistant Coach behind the bench during both Stanley Cup victories for the L.A Kings, Head Coach John Stevens was fired this morning.

Los Angeles hired Stevens on April 23, 2017 and he led the Kings back to the Playoffs in 2017-2018 but they were swept in the First Round by Vegas.

This year, Los Angeles failed to make the Playoffs for the second year in a row and finished with a 39-34-9 record.

A 5th Place finish in the Pacific Division.

"We really appreciate the effort Coach Stevens showed us these past couple of years but it wasn't acceptable for the Los Angeles Kings. I feel it's in our best interest to move forward with a new voice behind the bench." Kings General Manager Rob Blake stated.

"I take responsibility for the failures we experienced these past couple Seasons. I would like to thank the Kings Organization for allowing me to coach this great Franchise." Stevens stated.

With the Stevens firing, Los Angeles has become the 6th Team that will be in the market for a new Head Coach this Off-Season.

Vancouver, Vegas, Edmonton, Boston, and Anaheim have all removed their Head Coaches so far.

Note, Detroit has removed the Interim tag from Dan Bylsma making him new permanent Coach.

Anaheim Ducks Randy Carlyle has resigned earlier to become new President of Hockey Operations.

New Jersey Devils: FIRE Head Coach John Hynes after back to back dead last Finishes in the Metropolitan Division.

            5/18/20

            Adam Schefter

The Devils will be in the market for a new Head Coach this Spring, the Team announced this afternoon.

Devils General Manager Rey Shero has fired John Hynes as Head Coach.

"I have made the decision to remove John (Hynes) as Head Coach of the Devils." Shero announced. "I take full responsibility for the poor performance this Hockey Club has demonstrated these past few years."

New Jersey finished dead last in the Metropolitan Division with a 31-44-7 record last year. This season, the Devils were dead last again with a 36-39-7 record.

Since taking over in the 2015-2016 campaign, Hynes has only taken the Devils to the Stanley Cup Playoffs once.

A First Round loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2017-2018.

New Jersey is now the 7th Team in need of a new Head Coach.

Washington Capitals: FIRE Head Coach Todd Reirden after missing Playoffs.

              5/18/20

              Adam Schefter

The Washington Capitals have fired Head Coach Todd Reirden this afternoon, the Team announced.

"It's in the best interest of our Hockey Team that I remove Todd as Head Coach." Capitals General Manager Brian MacLellan stated.

Reirden, 49, was named Head Coach of the Capitals after Barry Trotz left over a Contract dispute after Washington won their first Stanley Cup in 2018.

Washington made it to the Eastern Conference Finals losing in 7 Games to the Toronto Maple Leafs last Spring.

However this year, the Capitals sunk to a 5th place finish in the Metropolitan Division with a 41-37-4 record.

Washington's Front Office has had enough and fired Reirden. This marks the 8th NHL Team looking for a new Coach this Spring.

                2019-2020 STANLEY CUP FINAL PREVIEW

                May 18, 2020

We have reached the Stanley Cup Final! This year will have the St. Louis Blues taking on the Montreal Canadiens! Lets take a look how these Two Franchises have reached the Stanley Cup.

St. Louis Blues(45-24-13) VS Montreal Canadiens(43-34-5)

WEST: St. Louis has been building for this for the past few years. General Manager Doug Armstrong had built this Club to not only make the Playoffs but contend for a Stanley Cup. In 2016 the Blues were in the Western Conference Final and lost to the San Jose Sharks. Last year, the Blues once again made a run all the way to the Western Conference Finals losing to the Sharks again. This year however the Blues made a deep run where they outlasted Central Division Rival, Dallas Stars in 7 Games in the First Round. In Round Two, the Blues got past the Central Division Champions, the Minnesota Wild in another 7 Game Series. The Wild beat Nashville in 5 Games in the First Round. In the Western Conference Finals, St. Louis met another Central Division rivals, the Colorado Avalanche and won the Series in 6 games. Colorado got past Anaheim and Arizona in the First Round. 6 Games to Anaheim and 7 to the Coyotes. The St. Louis Blues are built for this. Vladimir Tarasenko is leading the Blues with 14 Goals and 5 Assists this Playoff run. Ryan O'Reilly is a monster with 15 Assists. Netminder Robin Lehner has a 12-7-1 record with a 927% Save percentage. Doug Armstrong traded for Lehner from the New York Islanders last year and gave him a 3 Year Deal this past Off-Season. This also leaves backup Goalie Jordan Binnington's future in St. Louis a giant question mark. Head Coach Mike Yeo has a great Team on the ice for St. Louis and the Blues have made the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1970.

EAST: Montreal is no stranger to the Stanley Cup Finals, having won more Cups than any other Franchise in the NHL. Even the Habs Head Coach, Claude Julien is a Stanley Cup winner. Last time the Canadiens hoisted Lord Stanley for the 24th time in Franchise History was back in 1993. This was also the last time Montreal has reached the Cup Final sending the Habs Franchise into a 27 year drought. The Canadiens are hoping this year their Cinderella Story carries them. Montreal started their Playoff run adding another chapter in their epic rivalry against the Boston Bruins in 7 Games in the First Round. What was the ultimate gut punch for Boston was they won 58 Games, the most in the NHL this year and lost Game 7 inside the TD Garden. Head Coach Bruce Cassidy was fired afterwards signaling a new ERA in New England. In Round 2, Montreal beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in 7 Games to make the Eastern Conference Finals. The Habs made quick work of the Blue Jackets who made history themselves winning a Playoff Series and making the Conference Finals for the First Time in Franchise History. Columbus knocked out Carolina in 7 Games to make Round 2. In the Second Round, Columbus upset Toronto in 7 Games making Patrick Marleau have to wait another year to win Lord Stanley. The Maple Leafs upset the 57 Win Pittsburgh Penguins in the First Round sending Crosby, Malkin, and Company back home. Tampa beat Buffalo in 7 Games to reach Round 2. The biggest question mark for Montreal however is going to be their Offense. Brendan Gallagher leads the Canadiens with just 7 Goals this entire Playoff run. Montreal will rely heavily on Joe Thornton who leads with 8 Assists. Thornton won his first Cup last year in San Jose. Montreal has one of the best between the pipes, Carey Price(12-6-1) with a 944% Save Percentage.

The Canadiens are going to have to keep pace with the Blues but St. Louis appears to be firing on all cylinders.

                PREDICTION: Blues in 6.

St. Louis Blues: Assistant Coach Craig Berube to be Head Coach Candidate after Cup Finals.

                  5/19/20

                  Adam Schefter

St. Louis Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Yeo has the Blues in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1970.

With Game 1 of the Stanley Cup tonight against East Conference Champion, the Montreal Canadiens. St. Louis General Manager Doug Armstrong has announced he will allow Assistant Coach Craig Berube to interview for Head Coach Positions across the NHL this Spring.

With so many Teams (Anaheim, Boston, Vegas, New Jersey to name a few.) looking for a new voice behind the Bench for 2020-2021, Berube should be a top name once the Stanley Cup Finals end.

The Blues were in the Western Conference Finals last year and made the Cup Final this Spring.

All with Berube behind the Bench next to Mike Yeo. If Craig is offered a job he'll have to wait until the Finals are over per, NHL.

St. Louis Blues: Extend Head Coach Mike Yeo ahead of Stanley Cup Finals.

                    5/19/20

                    Adam Schefter

The St. Louis Blues will have one less distraction with Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals looming close.

Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong has announced he's extending Head Coach Mike Yeo's Contract in St. Louis.

"Mike is exactly the voice in the locker room and behind the bench for our Hockey Team. He has earned this extension with the success we've been building. He has this Organization's trust and confidence moving forward." Armstrong stated.

"I'm very grateful for the extension and I couldn't be happier here in St. Louis. This Organization has really treated me and my Family extremely well. I appreciate the Fans support as well as we try to win our first Stanley Cup in 50 years." Yeo stated.

The Contract is set for 3 year/3.5m Dollars and is set to expire after the 2023 Season.

With Off-Season set to begin, Vancouver begins long road of rebuilding ahead.

                      May 19, 2020

Vancouver, Canada- The Vancouver Canucks are in for a long Off-Season in Western Canada. Entering the 2019-20 campaign, the Canucks raised many eyebrows within their own organization and fanbase when General Manager Jim Benning sat on his hands during the Free Agency Period and making 0 Trades and 0 Free Agent signings opting to keep the Roster as it was.

It was a disaster. The Canucks ended last year in 7th place in the Pacific Division with a (38-39-5) Record and 81 Points.

This was the Canucks 4th year in a row of missing the Playoffs in the Benning Era.

Vancouver entered this Season with many questions and even more eyebrows raised as Benning kept the Roster as it was. This forced Head Coach Travis Green to have a main core of Jay Beagle, Tanner Pearson, and Elias Petterson. Jacob Markstrom and Thatcher Demko mended the pipes.

On March 19, Vancouver held a disappointing (23-46-4) record which guaranteed the Canucks of a 5th straight year of missing the Playoffs.

Vancouver crashed and burned to a last place finish in the Pacific Division with a 25-52-5 record.

Now the Canucks are without a Head Coach and a General Manager as the Off-Season is about to begin. Vancouver will be busy this Summer looking to rebuild.

"The past 5 years have been absolutely below our standards here in Vancouver. The Canucks demand more from our organization and as Owner of this Franchise, I've decided we needed a fresh start for our fans. This organization is capable of rebuilding and making a Playoff run as we try to get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jim and Travis did a mediocre job in their time here although we do thank them for their efforts. But it wasn't good enough. I wil officially begin the searching process for the next General Manager and Head Coach of the Vancouver Canucks." Canucks Owner Francesco Aquilini stated.

The New York Islanders will be in the market for a new General Manager this Summer. Lou Lamoriello,78 has announced he is stepping away from the Hockey Executive world.

"I've done my time here in New York and the NHL for over 33 years. I want to thank the Islanders organization and our great fans to allow me to help contribute to the success of the Islanders Hockey Club. After a rough year however I feel it is best and time for me to step away and focus on my health and family." Lou Lamoriello stated.

One of Lou's moves was hiring Barry Trotz to be new Head Coach of New York after a Contract dispute ended his time in Washington after the Cup win in 2018.

The Islanders finished the 2019-20 campaign with a (38-32-12) record and a 4th place finish in the Metropolitan Division.
