    O'Brien KO's Another Victim

Ronan O'Brien improved his record to 15(14)-0-0 last night with another knockout win over Danny Allen in England's Royal London Theatre. O'Brien dominated the action from start to finish before knocking out Allen in the 7th round.
A record-breaking crowd, consisting mostly of Irishmen, was on hand to witness the fight. Raucous chants of "LI-ON, LI-ON," were so loud it was nearly deafening inside the arena.
Rumors are running rampant through the boxing world that Shelly Goldstein, O'Brien's manager, is in talks with Tommy Morrison's camp about a possible matchup between Morrison and O'Brien. After the fight, neither O'Brien nor Goldstein would comment on the subject

O'Brien Makes Quick Work of Daniels; Sets Sights On Dean

Ronan O'Brien knocked down Severin Daniels four times en route to a second round stoppage of their bout last night in Mexico City. The fight, O'Brien's third against Daniels, was said to be a tune-up fight for the Lion's November showdown versus 16th-ranked Napoleon Dean. Daniels was out-classed from the opening bell as O'Brien immediately moved in for the kill, knocking Daniels down twice in the opening frame. Daniels survived the first round, but came out in the second, clearly dazed and was floored twice more before the referee put a halt to the slaughter.
Now the stage is set for November 3rd. O'Brien will face Napoleon Dean in the main event of a pay-per-view event held in New York's famed New York Arena. Despite his undefeated record and an impressive string of knockout wins, O'Brien is a major underdog in the fight. The blinding hand speed of Dean is the reason he is such a heavy favorite in the fight. To make things worse for O'Brien, Dean has a 2-inch reach advantage which will make getting inside on him very difficult. Dean also has dangerous punching power which O'Brien will have to be wary of.
The bout is the first headlining fight of the Lion's career and it could not come at a more crucial time. O'Brien is seeking a fight against heavyweight contender Tommy Morrison, but recent talks broke down with Morrison's camp. Morrison's promotor, Top Rank promotions, cited O'Brien's lack of notoriety as the main reason a deal could not be reached. With a high profile main event fight coming up, a win could give O'Brien the kind of exposure he needs to land some bigger fights in the near future.

            O'Brien vs Dean

It’s time now for the fight we’ve all been waiting for: Ronan “The Lion” O’Brien versus Napoleon Dean. This one could certainly be an explosive fight. Both O’Brien and Dean possess lethal punching power in either hand, but it’s Dean that has the superior size and hand speed. He is a heavy favorite to win this fight, but O’Brien has beaten the odds before and he hopes to do it again tonight. Will O’Brien remain unbeaten and extend his impressive string of knockout victories, or will Dean be the first to tame the Lion? Our main event is coming up next!

                Press Conference

                April 5th, 2013
Ronan O'Brien has announced he and manager Shelly Goldstein are parting ways. O'Brien also announced that he has signed a contract with Golden Boy Promotions Inc. Golden Boy will be able to get O'Brien the "bigtime" fights he's seeking. "There was nothing personal about our decision to part ways with Shelly," said O'Brien. "We just felt like Golden Boy was a better option for us at this point. Shelly is a great manager and I appreciate everything he did to help my career, but the timing was right to make a change."
O'Brien broke the news at the weigh-in's for his bout tomorrow night against Slyvester Gonzales in Chicago's Aragon Ballroom Gonzales had this to say about the fight, "I'm straight gonna beat this fool up. I promise you he ain't knocking me out. I've been in the ring with a lot tougher fighters than him and they didn't knock me out. So what makes this guy think he'll be any different?"
O'Brien's response was, "You can run your mouth all you'd like, but it isn't going to help you at all once that bell rings tomorrow night."
Neither man believes the other deserves his ranking and both admit they feel the other is overrated. One thing is for certain, somebody is wrong and come tomorrow night, we'll find out who it is.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the historic Aragon Ballroom in beautiful, downtown Chicago..... It's time for our main event of the evening!........ This bout is scheduled for 10 rounds of action in the heavyweight division.... Introducing our gladiators..... fighting out of the red corner weighing in at 220 pounds with a perfect record of 17 wins and no losses with 16 wins coming by way of knockout..... Ronan... "The Lion".... O'BRIEN!...... and his opponent across the ring..... fighting out of the blue corner weighing in at 230 pounds with a record of 28 wins, 10 losses, and 2 draws, with 11 of his wins coming by way of knockout..... Slyvester.... GONZALES!......

Round 1: Gonzales is aggressor early on as he is loading up on big punches and throwing multiple punch combinations. The Lion does a good job of slipping and blocking most of the punches and looks to counter the misses.

Round 2: More of the same as Gonzales continues to move forward straight at the Lion. His work rate is much higher than O'Brien as he looks the more confident of the 2 fighters. Then....
Gonazales is starting to throw really big punches here. He had better be careful or..... Whoa!..... what a counter punch by O'Brien!.... That was a bomb that landed directly square on the jaw of Gonzales!.... O'Brien is now moving forward pressing the action!.... Gonzales is just fighting to stay standing here!.... and a tremendous body shot has put him on the canvas!...... 1,2,3,..... how will Gonzales respond?.... he's been dropped and he appears to be hurt!...... 4,5..... he's getting up slowly..... 6,7... and he's up at the 8 count!.......

O'Brien has now turned the aggressor. Gonzales is stunned again just before the bell sounds to end the round.
Round 3: O'Brien picks up right where he left off in the 2nd round and again he stuns Gonzales, but Gonzales shows heart by staying on his feet. This one may not last much longer!

Round 4: Carbon copy of round 3 with O'Brien dishing out punishment by the bucket loads. Gonzales is cut and bleeding and he's not showing much in the way of offense. Then....

O'Brien is just waiting for an opening that will give him a green light to finish this fight...... Whoa!..... there it is!..... Gonzales is dropped by a huge right from O'Brien!...... 1,2,3...... Gonzales is down but he doesn't appear to be out...... 4,5,6..... he's going to get up again!..... he's up and on his feet, but how much longer will the referee allow this to go on?........

Round 5: Gonzales catches a second wind begins to step up his offensive output. Both men score with some damaging punches as the fight intensifies here in the 5th!

Round 6: Gonzales might be sensing an early stoppage due to the damage he's sustained to his eye and he is really coming after O'Brien. he's cut and he's bleeding but he's still throwing punches and that makes him a dangerous fighter. Then.....

O'Brien has backed off a bit here in the 6th possibly because he knows he's way up on the scorecards.... Oh!.... Gonzales has fired off a sweeping hook that landed on the left ear of O'Brien!....... O'Brien is down for just the third time in his career!.... can he get up?....... 1,2,3...... he's up and shaking his head to show his anger at getting caught with that punch!..... Suddenly this fight just got a whole lot more interesting!...... Gonzales just leveled the playing field by dropping O'Brien!...... how will this one finish?....

Round 7: Now the roles have been reversed and Gonzales has stepped into the dominant position. O'Brien retreats, using his jab to fight off the charging Gonzales. Once again O'Brien is rocked but he swiftly covers up and avoids further damage. Gonzales has stolen the momentum but does he have enough time to catch up on the scorecards?

Round 8: The fight is really heating now! Both men are rocked early on in the round and it looks like at any minute, someone could go down again! Then.......

O'Brien lands a nice uppercut there and Gonzales takes a step back.... O'Brien...... wait a minute!......... Gonzales is wobbling!...... his legs aren't under him!...... O'Brien hurt him with that punch!...... O'Brien sees it now and he's trying to finish him!..... what a flurry of punches snapping back the head of Gonazales!..... He's gone down again!....... this is the third time he's been down tonight!...... surely he's done!.......... 1,2,3,4...... Gonzales is trying to get up!..... 5,6,7,8....this is unbelievable!.... he's gotten up to his feet!...... he is in bad shape Teddy!.... his eye is nearly swollen shut and he's bleeding profusely from it!..... the ref is having a close look at it now!.... but he's decided to let them continue!.... Can Gonzales make it to the bell?.......

Round 9: O'Brien is back to fighting outside, knowing he's done enough to win this fight. His jab is working well as Gonzales' eye is so bad he can't even see it coming. Gonzales shows tremendous guts as he continues to charge forward and push the action.

Round 10: More of the same as Gonzales just refuses to quit. Smartly, O'Brien resists the temptation to stand in and trade with Gonzales. Miraculously, this fight is going to the scorecards!

DING, DING, DING, DING, DING...... ladies and gentlemen the scorecards are in..... our judges have reached a split decision!....... judge 1 scores the fight..... 94-92..... O'Brien...... judge 2 scores the fight....... 93-93....... and judge 3 scores the fight....... 93-93....... this bout is a DRAW!........

                        Post Fight Fallout

Kenny: "We have heavyweight contender Ronan "The Lion" O'Brien joining us tonight. Ronan, let's talk about your fight versus Slyvester Gonzales last weekend. It seems the whole world witnessed a different fight than what the judges saw. Clearly, you thought you won the fight. Am I right?"

O'Brien: "Yeah, I definitely feel I won the fight. If you watch the replay, you can tell I fought the last two rounds knowing I had the fight won. If I had known they were going to rob me like that, I would have pressed a little harder and knocked him out."

Kenny: "Do you regret not fighting more aggressively in those last two rounds?"

O'Brien: "Of course I do. Like I said, I never dreamed it was even remotely close on the scorecards so it didn't cross my mind to push for the knockout. I mean, I knocked him down three times in the fight. What more could I have done?"

Kenny: "Well, it truely was a shocking decision, but what's done is done. Where do you go from here?"

O'Brien: "My promotion company, Golden Boy Promotions, is trying to line up a fight against Tommy Morrison. This is a fight we've wanted for a while now so I'm hoping it will materialize."

Kenny: "Why Tommy Morrison? He's such a dangerous opponent. Is it worth the risk for a young fighter such as yourself with such a promising career ahead of you?"

O'Brien: "Yeah, it is a risky fight, but this whole sport is risky. I want to fight the best of the best and Tommy is one of the best. If I can beat him, I'll be in line for a shot at the title and that's my ultimate goal."

Kenny: "Well, we're out of time Ronan, but we thank you for chatting with us. Best of luck to you. I'm sure we'll be seeing a whole lot more of you in the future."

O'Brien: "Thanks Brian. I enjoyed it."

                          Lion To Fight Morrison

Ronan O'Brien has landed the fight he's been seeking for over a year now. The Lion will fight Tommy Morrison in September in the featured bout of a Pay-Per-View event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Morrison, 31(27)-7-0, is a dangerous puncher who poses a serious threat to the Lion's unbeaten streak.
"We've watched film on this guy (Morrison) and he can really hit hard," said O'Brien's trainer Declin Gallagher. "But so can Ronan. It's gonna be a war for sure. You can bet somebody is gonna get knocked out."
O'Brien says he's more motivated to knock Morrison out than he's ever been for a fight due to the controversial scoring of his last fight. "I'm not going to let the judges rob me this time. You can bet I'm going to finish this one and not give them another opportunity to do that to me again," said O'Brien. O'Brien will train for the fight here in Ireland and is rumored to have Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan working in his training camp.

Morrison Puts The Lion To Sleep In 2nd Round

                            September 8, 2013

Tommy "The Duke" Morrison made quick work of Ronan "The Lion" O'Brien last night at Las Vegas' MGM Grand. In what was billed as the potential fight of the year, Morrison knocked O'Brien out in the second round of what proved to be a completely one-sided affair. Morrison, 32(28)-6-0, took control of the fight at the opening bell by rocking O'Brien inside of the first minute. O'Brien never recovered and was floored twice in the second round before the referee stopped the contest.
The loss was the first for O'Brien, 17(16)-1-1, in his professional career. Following the fight, a shell-shocked O'Brien refused to comment. O'Brien's manager, Declin Gallagher, called the fight a, "... huge disappointment. We trained so hard to get ready for this one, and to have it end this way is difficult to swallow. Tommy caught him with a good shot early and Ronan just couldn't get back in it," said Gallagher. "He'll bounce back though. He's a tough kid. This is a part of the sport that every fighter has to face. Sooner or later everybody loses one. Ronan's got a bright future in this sport. You haven't seen the last of him."

Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.
