Injury Woes Set Back Top Team in Serie B

Reggina has suffered a string of bad luck as far as injuries are concerned, as now three of their starters are out for a long period of time. The first injury was defender Lucioni who broke his forearm in the match against Pescara last week. He is said to be out for at least 8 weeks and possibly longer. Our next victim was the leading scorer in the league Allen, who went down hard on a heading attempt and dislocated his shoulder. We don't know how long it will be, but preliminary estimates are around 4 to 5 weeks. Lastly, we have just gotten word that Hetemaj, Reggina's center midfielder, turned his ankle in practice, and will be out at least 2 weeks. Now the back ups for these stellar players will have to step up so Reggina can try to hold on to first place. The upcoming slate of games will be kind to Reggina, with their only top opponent being Siena in the second week of December, but whenever a team loses such a big portion of their team it can be a struggle. We'll have to see how this affects the standings as we move forward in Serie B.

Re: Mr. Second Place: An Autobiographical Tale of Alvin Allen (Fifa 13)

It’d been a couple weeks since I’d injured my shoulder. The doctor’s were adamant that I keep my arm in a sling, but I hated the constraint so I went without it. AC Milan representatives called to check in on me all the time, wondering about their investment in me. First I hurt my elbow, and then my shoulder on my right arm, so naturally people began to ask questions about my durability. It made no difference to me. I knew how tough I was and a small setback like this wasn’t going to ruin my spirit.

I was in a great mood. I watched cool rain fall outside my window as I lied in bed. It honestly felt good to have a break. The emotional roller coaster I was on was taking its toll on me. I felt like I had to tiptoe around the Reggina offices now that Vinny spent time there, and I also keep up to date with the latest news that Leo and Quinn were giving me about there investigation into Theo. Not to mention my team was in the middle of a race for the Serie B championship. Yeah, it felt good to be lazy and lay back for a little while. The phone rang. I looked at it and turned it off. Not today. I turned over and went to sleep.

I woke up sometime later to hear voices coming from my living room. I walked out to find Vinny chatting with Gino on my couch sipping some of my vintage merlot.
“Ah, so he awakens,” Vinny laughed with that all too familiar smile on his face. “How’s my old roommate doing?”
I frowned at him. “What do you want Vinny?”
“Oh no, is that anyway to speak to your employer? I think the Geneeskunde sponsorship has been good to the team,” he spoke. “The facilities are nicer, the food is better, and not to mention the equipment is state of the art. Don’t you like the red, white and blue boots I got for you?”
“Vinny, I’ve known you long enough to know you don’t do anything that doesn’t benefit you,” I retorted, “What’s this really about?”
“Oh, come now, I get to work for a wonderful company and I get to be a part of watching my favorite team succeed. It was a small price to pay to work for Theo, but you already knew that, didn’t you?”
I didn’t flinch. “You work for Theo? I thought you and Leo were working with Theo on some big transport deal?”
“Oh come on Alvin,” Vinny grinned, “You know the whole story by now. Theo, the Apuzzo family, and the new Valente Corp? You were told it all by my uncle who didn’t have the good fortune of dying when he was supposed too.”
Gino stood up and walked behind me, pushing me down onto the couch. I sat up and glared at him.
“Ah good, now that you are comfortable I want you to see this.” He slid over a newspaper article to me. “Well done. My uncle is extremely good at what he does. You almost had me.”
I looked at the paper. It was a paper from the US and there inside the newspaper was a small headline. It read...

          -

          Houston Times-Courier
          Freighter Explosion in Gulf
          by Chip Bentley

A freighter bound for the United States from South America has exploded killing the entire crew. Authorities investigating the matter include the coast guard, but also the ATF and DEA are said to be on scene as well...

          -

I looked up at him. "You blew it up didn't you?"
"We have to protect our interests anyway we need to. Besides, it was only one shipment of the many we have at our disposal."
His smiled turned sickeningly terrifying, “Where is Leo?”
          I stammered, “I don’t know.”
Gino grabbed me by my bad shoulder. I yelled in pain.
“Let’s try this again,” he said as his demeanor got more intense.
“I don’t know! He only calls me every once in a while to check on you.” I grunted in pain. Gino let go.
“So you really don’t know,” he pondered, “Well, you are going to help me find him.”
          “Never,” I said.
“Oh you will, or Theo and I will have to take care of your little girlfriend, Adelina.”
          I slumped, “How?”
“Oh c’mon Alvin, Theo’s known about her since she started falling for you. Her cover was being Theo’s girl. It’s hard to keep up that façade when you’re in love with somebody else now isn’t it?” he said solemnly. “He’s only keeping her alive to have more control over you.”
          I felt defeated. “I can’t.”
“Now Alvin, it’s ok, you’re just going to have to decide whether to help me find my uncle, or give up on the girl you love.”
          I sat in silence.
“Come Gino, our star player is sulking. Let us leave him to his thoughts. We’ll be in touch, Alvin.”
Gino punched me in my bad shoulder so hard that the pain knocked me to the ground.
“Oh, and take care of that shoulder. Make sure to wear that sling. It’ll help with some of that chronic pain.” His cackling laughter as he left my condo echoed in my mind as I sat slumped on the floor. It was hopeless. If I let Quinn know she would try to get away and they would kill her, especially now that her real name was out. If I told Leo, he’d just cut his losses and leave them to kill Quinn regardless. My only choice was to try to help Vinny find Leo, but honestly I didn’t know where to start. We only spoke in increments anyway. I pulled myself off of the floor and went to the freezer to ice my shoulder. Well, maybe if I could rehab this shoulder and get this team to continue winning I could draw Vinny’s attention away from his search on Leo and buy myself some time. It was worth a shot, and any shot was good right now considering my options. I wrapped my arm in ice, threw on the sling, and headed out to the trainer to discuss rehab options. It was time to fight back the only way I knew how….on the field.

Out of sync. Slow. Winded. These are the adjectives that could describe Reggina star Alvin Allen as he returned to the pitch today. Lanciano showed no mercy, going right at that sore shoulder whenever they could. Allen didn't have his best match, so it was up to his teammates to get him going and they had plenty of chances to get him the ball. Good passes continued to pressure the Lanciano back line, but nothing was converted. Then, in the 40', we saw a flash of Allen's greatness shine through. Rizzo passed it into a waiting Allen in the box. Allen pulled the ball back behind him with his right foot and spun the ball to his left. He sent off a shot that lacked significant pace, but the move caught the keeper so off guard that it found the back of the net. The slow roller would give Reggina the lead and the win, as nothing significant would happen in the second half. Allen would be pulled late in the second half, but the manager said it was only precautionary. A good win for Reggina keeps them up near the top of the table and no one is happier than Reggina's manager at having his star striker back.

We are halfway through the season and Siena looks to pull away from the rest of Serie B, racking up an impressive 16 wins out of 23 matches. Right on their heels for the title is Pescara, trailing only by one point. Both of these teams are looking to move back into Serie A where they were relegated from last year.

A resurgent Reggina squad has pulled themselves back into 3rd after a string of bad injuries pushed them out of the top spot. Alvin Allen has returned to the lineup, bolstering their attack and giving them much needed goals up front. However, the latest transfer rumors have their back line star Camilleri saying that he wants out. The 28 year old defender has been quoted as saying he "wants to be part of a winning team." Many at the time thought he meant he wanted more stars to come to Reggina, hence the move to get Allen on loan, but maybe he was hinting at wanting to leave the team. We will have to see how this story develops.

Modena and Parma round out the top 5 in the table and both are heading in opposite directions. Modena has quietly put together one of its better seasons in recent history, while Parma has continued to struggle to find footing in Serie B. They need to improve if they want a shot at making it back to the top division. Transfer rumors are also prevalent in Parma's camp. They are looking to make a splash before the window ends to help their chances at chasing a top 3 finish.

How long can you be a pro for because I'm only at a 64 and if I want to be like Messi than I'd only have like less than 10 years up in the 90s

It won't take as long as you think. Keep at it and keep up with your achievements. You might not get to 90 but you'll move up pretty fast though. And I think its 15 seasons? I could be wrong though.

                      Summary:
Vercelli hung by a thread all game and they almost escape with 1 point. Reggina took a staggering 10 shots to Vercelli's 1, and that 1 wasn't even close as it sailed over the crossbar. Reggina was in the visitors territory all game and teed off on the keeper, but they just couldn't put one in the back of the net. Then when it seemed that the game would end in a draw Reggina would finally push through in the 84'. Allen would find Campagnacci up the wing, and he would send a long cross into the box. Rizzato would try to head it in, but the keeper would come out to punch it away. They both missed and the ball bounced into the net. The goal would be credited to Campagnacci and the assist to Allen. That was all they would need to win as Reggina would win again.

                          Summary:
One could almost feel bad for Terni as they were visiting an angry Reggina team. Terni had only won 1 game all season, and unfortunately for them it wouldn't change on their visit to Reggina. The pressure came early as D'Alessandro sent a right footed shot into the left bottom corner early on an easy goal. Allen would continue the attack with a breakaway goal in the 25'. Rizzo would add a third in the first half off a give and go with Campagnacci off the Allen interception. Halftime would not be a respite for Terni, as Reggina played keep away for the rest of the game. They controlled pace and used accurate passing to milk to clock. The frustration would get to Terni as two defenders would manhandle Ceravolo in the box for a penalty. Allen would put it into the net on the attempt, burying the Terni side 4-0 for the final.

                            by Davide Siviglia

The transfer window has ended, and one notable name that has not moved is Vincenzo Camilleri of Reggina. Camilleri came forward to the press this afternoon stating, "I am fully prepared to finish this season as a member of Reggina and look forward to playing to the best of my abilities for the rest of the year." Well said by the defender, but our sources have confirmed that management was none to happy about receiving the late transfer request from the player. Notable Reggina supporter and head of one of the main sponsorship groups for the team, Vinny Valente, was said to have had numerous conversations with Camilleri before the deadline, and it seems to have had an effect as Camilleri rescinded his transfer considerations. Kepping Camilleri in tow should be a relief for the team as he is a reliable defender and not to mention the current team captain.

In other transfer news, Parma has made a move bringing in Claudemir Domingues de Souza, the 25 year old Brazilian midfielder. FC Kobenhavn will bring in a reported 4.8 million dollars for moving the young star from the Danish Superliga to Italian Serie B. Parma was looking to make a big splash to propel them up the table and hopefully get them to move up the table for a promotion spot. A bold move indeed for Parma, but we will have to monitor their progress to see if the deal was worth the cost at the end of the season.

The Rematch: #1 Pescara vs. #3 Reggina

                              v.

The new rivalry looks like a good one, as leaders of the table Pescara host a hungry Reggina squad that is desperate for promotion this year. Both teams should know what to expect as they played a tough matchup to a draw in their last meeting. Pescara would look to distance themselves with a win, while Reggina was looking to stay hot and possibly escape with 3 points of their own.

The game began with Maniero up top working his ball skills into a tackle as Hetemaj would take the ball away smoothly. Reggina would begin a long build up in Pescara territory passing the ball with ease past Brosco and the Pescara back line. Allen would find space as he dribbled past Cresconzi. He would send in a streaking right footed shot that would find the back of the net for the early Reggina lead.

The restart would be all Pescara as Vukusic and Weiss would counter back into the Reggina side. The strong midfield of Pescara supported the build up, getting into the penalty area with ease. Lund Neilsen would kick the ball back out to Weiss, who would take a couple steps and send forth an unexpected shot from deep outside the box. It caught the keeper off guard and went over his outstreched arms for the goal.

The rest of the first half was uneventful with neither team converting on their chances. That was until Jonathas made a run up the wing late. He would send a through ball to Vukusic and the shot would be deflected by Ely. The ball would bounce back and Jonathas was able to receive it and send in a finesse goal. Pescara would go in to the half up 2-1.

Reggina would begin the second half pushing its midfielders forward trying to get the equalizing goal. Allen would get his chance, receiving a beautiful cross from Rizzo that he would head towards net, but the keeper Perin would barely get a hand on it and send it away. The striker was visibly frustrated as he kicked the grass in disgust.

As the game moved into its final minutes, Pescara moved into a defensive posture so they could hold onto their lead. Reggina would bring the entire team forward, trying to convert a late goal but leaving their defense exposed and under manned. Camilleri would move up the wing, distributing the ball to Hetemaj in the middle. He would find Ceravolo who would kick it through to Allen in the box. Allen would fake shot, the cut across Balzano for a right footed shot. Perin would dive for it, but he couldn't reach it as Allen would convert the late 87' equalizer. The rematch would once again end as a draw, as each team would get a point.

National Team Spot is Allen's to Lose
                                by Dave Seville

The United States rosters have been released and it looks like Alvin Allen has once again made this friendly schedule against upcoming opponents Egypt and Brazil. These rosters will prove significant as these will be some of the last tune up matches for teams before the World Cup begins this summer.

Allen was said to be in a contested battle against other upcoming young stars Wondowlowski and Sapong, but the goal scoring ability of Allen must have been something that drove Klismann to make this move. "We need the presence of another scoring threat up front," Klismann said to reporters last week, "Jozy is a great asset for us, but we can't put the entire burden on him. We need another striker that can provide goals." It looks like the person he was referring to may be Allen, as he will get the start alongside Altidore against Egypt.
