I just read all 36 pages of this..

In all honesty it's a better read than most books I have read. I'm convinced you should be a professional writer. I'll be stopping in frequently.

Re: Mr. Second Place: An Autobiographical Tale of Alvin Allen (Fifa 13)

Helms had leaked to some people that the week I had actually spent with him in France that I was in a hospital with the flu. However, when I was asked about it by A.T., I told him the truth. Sort of. I said that I had suffered from mental exhaustion, but I didn’t want to let anyone know or it would’ve jeopardized my season with AC Milan. When A.T. told Leo the news, Genneskunde put the brakes on their rollout of A-81 with me as their marketing piece for fear that news might get to the media about my bout with mental problems in the hospital. So for the last couple of months my life had been filled with nothing but soccer. Well, soccer and the occasional reports sent to my contacts about the activities of my associates. Most of these reports were full of the same stuff. My brother and I would talk about endorsement deals, my contract with Milan, and possible destinations in the transfer window with little to no conversations about Leo and the Madame. They had stopped expecting my use of A-81, which was a relief because I was never going to take it again.
I was off on another one of my reporting runs the night before we would fly to England to face Arsenal for Europa Cup action. It was simple really. I would get letter addressed as “fan mail” to my house from a specific location. Written in code on the letter would be a location where a burner phone would be dropped. This time it was in the Parco Sempione, a beautiful location in Milan. I sat on a bench where the phone was supposed to be, but there was none to be found. I started to get a bit worried, but then a familiar silhouette slinked its way towards me. I smirked as Helms sat down beside me. I had to admit, I was actually starting to like the guy. He would check in with me from time to time, and always in the most strange ways. One time I swear he pretended he was a trainer for our team just to get me a message about Leo being on the move to the United States. He said it was important, but I think he just wanted an El Shaarawy jersey. A couple came up missing from the inventory. I was about to comment on that, but the smirk fell off my face as I realized Helms had a serious look on his face.
“What’s wrong, Helms?” I asked concerned.
“Remember when I told you Leo was on his way to the US for a business trip?” he said in a hushed tone.
I laughed, “I was just remembering how the club was still trying to find those El Shaarawy jerseys that came up missing.” I stopped laughing as I realized Helms was not sharing my mirth.
“Alvin, your friend Gabby is in a bit of trouble. She is delving deep into your past dealings with the Valente family and is not letting go of the lead this time. It has caught Leo’s attention. You might want to give her a word of caution.”
“Well,” I responded, “we’re not exactly friends anymore. In fact, we haven’t spoken since my episode with A-81.”
“Be that as it may, I figured I give you the courtesy of letting you know. This is dangerous business she is getting involved in.” Helms said solemnly. “G-Sop can’t promise her protection for fear of blowing our investigating in Geneeskunde and Valente Companies.”
“Ok, I talk to her,” I sighed. “But I’m the last person she’ll listen to right now.”
Helms got up to leave. “Take care of yourself, Alvin. I appreciate everything you are doing for the agency.”
I got up to leave as well. “As much as I like you, Helms, I’m not doing this for you. I’m doing it to get justice for Quinn and to finally free my family from being used by everybody.”
Helms smiled before walking off, “By the way, think you can get me some of El Shaarawy’s cleats?”
I laughed as I turned away, “Man, I said I want to stop being used, especially from your dumb errands.”
As I walked back to my motorcycle, I knew that the conversation with Helms would be my last pleasant conversation of the day. My conversation with Gabby was bound to go poorly.

Emirates Stadium is a sight to behold when it is filled with 60,000 screaming fans. Premier League fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and the famous Gunners of Arsenal had some of the best. No doubt they had to be a bit disappointed to have fallen to the Europa League, but Arsenal would definitely be putting their best effort into trying to advance to the final. Standing in their way was the equally exciting club of AC Milan who were coming off of an easy victory over CSKA Moskva. Arsenal would be determined to make them work just a bit harder as the whistle blew for the start of this Europa League semifinal.
Arsenal used a 4-3-3 formation just like Milan, but theirs was more attack oriented due to their use of a central attack midfielder and pushing their center forward up into more of a striker role. The wings played up as well, allowing for a swift attack that could come from all directions. Arsenal was all about attacking, and they put a lot of pressure on their back line to hold steady. Milan would look to exploit this with their stronger midfield. It made for an intriguing match on paper. However, what Milan didn’t account for, was the sheer ferocity of the pace that Arsenal would play with.
Milan would learn of this pace early, as the front three of Podolski, Dzeko, and Walcott made the Milan back line nervous with smooth passing, as they weaved in and out like a snake waiting to strike. And strike they would in the 8’ as Walcott would hit Dzeko inside just in front of Trellez. Acerbi was caught off guard trying to provide help defense, leaving a gap for Podolski. Dzeko would slide the ball over to him, and the leading goal scorer in the Premier League would finish with authority.
Arsenal was not done, as they would take the ball from Milan on the restart and march right back down the field. This time Wilshere would find Dzeko in the penalty area on a beautiful through pass. De Sciglio had no choice but to tackle him from behind, earning himself a yellow card and giving Arsenal a penalty attempt. Podolski would take the kick, booting the ball into the bottom right corner just out of the reach of Brkic. The game was only in its 13’, but Arsenal was up 2-0.

Podolski celebrates a two goal performance against Milan

Milan needed to regroup before the game got out of hand. De Jong would try to push them up the middle of the field where Arsenal was weakest, but all it took was one misstep and off Arsenal would go to the races. Milan’s gaps in the formation were too big, and Arsenal was able to exploit those wide passing lanes by motioning players around the box and putting nice passes into open spaces. Fortunatly for Milan, after the first two goals Arsenal couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, as Santi Cazorla and Walcott missed two good chances late in the first half.
The missed opportunities would come back to haunt Arsenal, as their pressing nature on the offensive end would no doubtedly lead to counter attack opportunities. Milan would finally get their chance as Allen would take a lobbed pass from Emanuelson on a counter break. It was a foot race between Allen and Papadopulos, and Allen would win shooting the ball with his left foot into the bottom left corner. The ball would be more central than he hoped, and Szczesny would jump in front, knocking the ball back to his right. El Shaarawy would streak to the rescue, one timing a rebound into the upper right corner for the goal in the 40’. Milan would head into the half down 2-1.
The second half would begin in the same manner as the first, as Arsenal took control of the ball immediately. However, this time the back line of Milan seemed prepared, making switches with their marking and giving space to the speedy front line of Arsenal. Podolski was happy for the room to operate, as he would take the ball and pull off a step over that caught Constant stumbling. He would cut inside and send in a rocket left footed shot. Brkic would dive but it was out of his reach. The ball looked destined for the net, but instead took a late bend and clanged off the post. Wilshire would try to knock in the rebound but it was blocked excellently by Trellez. Milan held off the Arsenal strike just barely.
Milan wasn’t completely helpless as they would try to mount an attack of their own in the middle of the second half. Abate played surprisingly well up front, sending in a steady stream of crosses and getting the playmakers Allen and El Shaarawy involved all match long. He would finally get a chance of his own on a counter attack as Allen used his speed to try to break through the back line. With one man to beat, Allen would send a ball over the top to a wide open Abate on his right. It was one on one with the keeper, but before he could even take the shot the flag went up in the air to signal offside. It was an extremely close call, but replays showed he was just a bit off.
That would be the last chance for Milan, as Arsenal controlled the ball for about the 75’ to the end of the match. Instead of attacking, they toned the pace down and instead played possession football. They would pass the ball around the pitch, tiring out Milan players and leaving them with no chance to score at the end of the match. The match would end with Arsenal content to take the 2-1 win, leaving many to wonder why they didn’t push forward to try to get another goal before the end of the match. Milan was clearly outclassed all game, and one has to wonder whether Arsenal’s conservative play will ocme back to haunt them in the second leg of this semifinal.
For Milan, this whooping may have been needed for them to snap them back into reality. This is an exteremly talented team they are facing, and Milan was lucky to escape with one away goal. If they want to win this series they will have to make some massive adjustments to deal with the speed of Arsenal’s front line. If Arsenal had been more accurate, the game could have gotten out of hand fast. On will have to see how they respond when these teams meet again next week.

                        Summary:
Milan would head to Bologna just three days after their disappointing loss to Arsenal. Bologna is a team that is just trying to avoid relegation as they currently sit in 17th place. Unfortunately for them, they were not going to make up any ground against an angry Milan team that used this game as shooting practice. Milan would take 23 shots, 16 of which were on target. They controlled the ball for 71% of the game. Milan commanded the game from the first whistle to the last whistle, but they would only score one goal. The man of the match award would not go to any member of the Milan team, but would instead go to Bologna's keeper Agliardi, who played unbelievably well. He would make 14 saves and almost singlehandedly got his team 1 point. The breakthrough would come in the second half as Allen's frustration made him decide to take the game in his own hands. Allen would find himself on a bit of a break with El Shaarawy to his right. Instead of taking the safe play, Allen would cut back into the middle with a heel chop, sprinting towards the box. Agliardi would come out a bit to get in position, and that was all the room Allen needed, sending a strike from deep instead of pushing inside. It was just enough to catch Agliardi off guard as the ball sailed into the upper right corner for the goal in the 65'. Milan would play possession football towards the end of the match and take a crucial 3 points to stay on pace with Juventus in the race for the championship.

Games like this are frustrating. Thoroughly dominating an opponent and just barely having anything to show from it. Glad you were able to keep pace with Juve

Thanks. The most frustrating games are the ones where you feel you did everything right and the CPU goes cheese mode at the end of the game and gets a cheap 90' goal. I'm glad that didn't happen or I think I might've broke the controller.

I've had those types of games. I've learned that after the 85th minute if you have a lead it's best to act like a real soccer team and take it deep into their own end near the corner flags and make them come after you rather than take shots.

San Siro was full throttle as fans poured in awaiting the conclusion of this Europa League semifinal match. Arsenal came into the game nursing a 2-1 aggregate score line, but Milan had gotten the crucial away goal headed into this home match. Pundits wondered whether Aresnal would come out with the same reckless abandon they did in the first game or whether they would take a more composed approach playing possession football and making Milan come to them. Either way, we were set up for another good one as the lineups remained relatively similar to the first meeting between these foes.
This game would begin in much the same fashion and the last one. Arsenal would begin the match controlling pace as they had for the majority of the first match. Dzeko marched his troops down the field, giving between Walcott and Podolski deep into Milan territory. Dezko would work inside, drawing defenders his way as he would leave the ball off for Santi Cazorla who would drill the ball off the post in the 6’. Abate would clear over the end line and the corner kick was given right back to Arsenal. The kick would be taken and cleared away by Milan, but Podolski would get his left boot on it and send in another great shot that would sail just wide of the target.
The theme of this match for Arsenal is missed opportunities. Arsenal would take a total of 15 shots during the match but only 3 of these were on target. They would once again control pace with their front line of Walcott, Dzeko, and Podolski, but couldn’t convert open shots. Their best shot before the half would come around the 35’, as Santi Cazorla would lead a long build up just outside of the penalty area, handling the ball in the middle of the field , coordinating the attack. Walcott would sprint wide and Cazorla would give to give as he outpaced his defender easily. The cross would come inside and as it did it deflected off of Constant and bounced inside to to a wide open Dzeko who would volley it towards the net. He didn’t hit it cleanly, and the ball rolled slower that he would have liked towards the bottom corner giving Brkic just enough time to dive and make the save of his life, holding onto the ball.
Milan would have a couple chances, but they were largely uninspired counter attacks. Their biggest chance came just before the half as Emanuelson would break free up the right side of the pitch. He would give to Paulinho in middle of the field who would break free in front of net. Szczesny would charge out and as Paulinho got ready to shoot, Papadopoulos came and slide the ball away from behind on an excellent tackle. Paulinho went down in a heap, but there was no call by the referee and rightly so as it was a top class tackle. Unlucky for Milan, but nonetheless they somehow found themselves tied at the half 0-0.
The halftime adjustments came in earnest as Milan worked feveresly to figure out how to combat Aresnal’s furious attack. Manager Allegri masterminded a plan to change his counter attacking style to a more possession oriented type of attack, emphasizing to his guys to hold onto the ball and look for passing lanes to give his guys wide lanes to give them chances to score. The logic worked wonders and Milan looked like a completely different club after the half. It was Barcelona football from the word go as Milan went to work right away, passing crisply from the middle of the field out wide to the wings. Instead of those wing men sending in the predictable cross, instead the ball was either kicked back out or centered for more options. Cutters would converge into the middle, weaving back outside or posting up in front of defenders for a cheap goal chance.
That was how Milan would finally get on the scoreboard, after a long possession in the middle of the field, El Shaarawy would use his speed to avoid the double team of Sagna and Papadopoulos on the outside, splitting the defense and coming inside the box. Allen would receive the pass from El Shaarawy right in the middle, and would give to Paulinho who would one time it over to de Jong. De Jong would tap it into the bottom right corner easily and Milan would be up 1-0 just into the 50’.
The floodgates seemed to open after this moment as Milan began to assert control over the game in the second half, attacking through Arsenal’s weakest point of the field, the middle. De Jong was the controlling force, orchestrating a masterful passing performance that we had not seen out of Milan all year. But, more importantly for the match, it seemed as if Arsenal was completely unprepared for how to battle a foe that played possession football. Then in the 63’, de ong would see El Shaarawy streaking to his left. He would send forward a lobbed pass just over the head of Sagna, getting the ball in stride just outside the penalty box and hitting a shot with the outside of his foot. The rocket bent slightly to the right just out of the diving reach of Szczesny for the goal and the crucial 2-0 lead for Milan in the match that put them up 3-2 on aggregate.
Arsenal would wake up, taking the blows to the chin but ultimately ready to assert dominance over the match once again. The largely silent for the match Wilshire began to press back the Milan onslaught in the middle, outpacing his opponents and once again beginning runs for Arsenal. Wilshire would give to Gibbs who was playing way up on the left. He would cross it inside and Dzeko would head it, but the ball was deflected back out on a nice block by Trellez. Wilshire would gather just inside the box, sending it back outside to Santi Cazorla. He would put it back into the box to a cutting Walcott who would take an ill advised shot and put it way wide of the target.
The match would wear on with Arsenal taking more bad shots on net as they began to press to hard for the victory. They would send everyone forward. The ball would work its way around the box, and Wilshire would get an excellent look on net from outside the box. He would take it, sending the shot to the upper right corner. The ball would clang off the crossbar and out of play as the unlucky shot bounced out of bounds for the goal kick.
That would be the last good chance for Arsenal as Milan looked to put them away for good. Milan would get the opportunity on a counter attack started on the wing by El Shaarawy. He would race upfield, giving to Allen in the middle. With Aresenal pressing everyone forward, there was only one man to beat that was back. Koscielny was this unfortunate person as Allen pulled out the double stepover movetrying to get him to bite. To his credit, he stayed right in front of Allen, but he was so focused on him that he didn’t see Emanuelson cutting on his right. Allen would pass with the outside of his boot into space and Emanuelson would do the rest, easily finishing against Szczesny who charged out too late to prevent Emanuelson’s rocket shot from going into the back of the net. The whistle would blow and Milan would walk away with the 3-0 victory and a trip secured to the Europa League final.
