Suarez and Manchester United Take a Bite Out of QPR's Winning Streak

Suarez gives the thumbs up to his new Man Utd teammates

The Queens Park Rangers headed home to face off against a tough Manchester United squad. New addition Luis Suarez has made an already dangerous team even better, adding another scoring deminsion to an already stacked lineup. QPR spent all match on their heels, doing their best to try to hang with Man U. The first half saw Roussillon and the QPR defense holding strong on the back line, doing their best to frustrate their opponent. The shots kept coming, and in the 37' Fellaini almost put one in from way outside the box. Vorm pulled off the full extension, parrying away the ball at the last second and keeping the match at a 0-0 draw. As the second half started the Manchester United attack was starting to wear on QPR. In the 60', Simspon would commit a bad foul just outside the box on the left side of the pitch to garner the foul and a yellow card. Suarez would head to the spot and curl a beautiful strike up over the wall onto the awaiting afro of Fellaini, who would head it home, finally getting the goal that had eluded him in the first half. Man U was content to sit on the ball the rest of the match as Allen and QPR could do nothing to muster an offensive gameplan. The match would end with QPR garnering their first lost of the season 1-0 at the hands of Manchester United.

          QPR Struggles Against Crystal Palace

Bannan celebrates his early acrobatic showcase goal against QPR

Barry Bannan got free up the wing, spun past Traore, fake shot past Ehmer, before tapping in a finesse ball in the corner for the early goal for Crystal Palace. This early play would be the most offensive action that would come in the match for most of the 90 minutes. Crystal Palace held onto their lead at home like a vise, clamping down hard on QPR and preventing them from getting anything going. The strategy would work for the most part. Even though QPR controlled possession at a staggering 61% of the game, the passing lanes were continuously clogged, making QPR settle for a lot of backward passes to try to wait out their opponent. With time running out for QPR, Faurlin would make one last push up the middle. He would find Hoilett for the give and go, quickly freeing up the midfielder up the wing. With a quick step as the defender closed, Faurlin would release a low cross into the box. The ball would deflect up in the air off the thigh of Wright-Phillips and Allen, who was in the right place at the right time, would head the deflection home for the fluke goal at the end of the match. Thewhistle would blow, and QPR would escape Crystal Palace with a point.

Benzema's Late Heroics Keep Arsenal in the Hunt for First Place

Benzema heads the ball past Vorm for the equalizer

Second place Arsenal would come into Zvezda Stadium expecting an offensive showdown between two of the highest scoring teams in the BPL. Instead, what the fans got was a gritty, defensive showdown spurred on by great back line leadership and goalkeeper play. There was a total of only one shot on target fir the entire matchup, even though their were two goals scored. The QPR goal happened strangely. In the 24', Hoilett would receive a lob inside from Jean from the half circle just over the heads of Miquel and Mertesacker. Szczesny would charge from the goal and the ball bounced into the box, and just as Hoilett got a boot on the ball, Szczesny tried to grab onto it. The ball somehow squrited underneath him, slowly rolling into the back of the net before Miquel could clear it away. The goal was credited to Hoilett, and although QPR wasn't expecting the goal, they were more than happy to try to defend their one goal lead for the rest of the match. Ramsey played an excellent game for Arsenal, putting his team in prime scoring chances, but QPR's defense held firm. The help defense played by center midfeilder's Faurlin and M'Bia was invaluable as they would help close down passing lanes and keep the battle for possession in the midfield and not fought in QPR territory. This would change late' as Benzema was called on to sub into the match. Wenger had initially decided to rest his star striker for this match, but he was forced to play his hand as it looked like QPR would walk away with three points. The tempo of the match shifted immediately when Benzema came onto the pitch. Ramsey and Wilshere worked the ball in the middle of the field, passing the ball quickly as Benzema would work his way into position. The quick give and go came soon after, with Benzema giving the ball to Ramsey as the midfielder sprinted toward the wing and the striker moved inside to the box. Ramsey would send in a quick cross to Benzema, who would push his defender out of the way wiht his superior strength to get into position. He would take the ball and redirect it towards the corner of the net just past the outstretched hands of Vorm for the equalizing goal in the 82'. The match would end soon after, with both teams leaving with a point. QPR would leave disappointed, now winless in their last three matches.

Re: Mr. Second Place: An Autobiographical Tale of Alvin Allen (Fifa 13)

The heavy handed knock on my door was becoming a regular occurrence in my life. A burly bodyguard would announce Taisia’s presence even before she would wander into my apartment. We were clearly spending a lot of time together, and rumors were starting to be kicked up in the press about an alleged relationship between the player and the owner. We had not done anything to this point, but I do admit even though I feigned that I was annoyed, it was actually nice to have someone in my life to talk to again, even if all the answers were half truths and innuendo. But tonight was different. As Taisia walked into my apartment, I knew from the look in her eyes we were going to have a serious conversation.
              “Taisia I…” I started.
“Sit down Alvin,” she said. I plopped down on the couch. She took off her overcoat to reveal a blue cocktail dress, but I was more surprised to see a sliver flask in her hand. She took a long drink from the container before coming over and sitting next to me. I stayed silent waiting for her to speak, but all she did was stare in front of her. Just as I was beginning to say something, she spoke.
“Alvin, I’m tired,” she said exhaustedly.
“What do you…?” I responded before being cut off.
“I’m tired of having to put on a different face every time I need something.”
She took another swig from the flask and then looked in my eyes with that stare of steel.
“Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been groomed for this life. I’m intelligent, beautiful, and strong. But more importantly, I’m manipulative.” She paused again. “Alvin, I’m on the wrong side of 30 here and I’m still playing the same game I’ve played since I was that shy little girl all those years ago.”
“Taisia,” I interrupted, “Where are you going with this?”
She looked at me and that vulnerability she had just shown me got sealed back up somewhere inside of her. She was now a vision of calmness.
“It’s time for some truths, Alvin.” She got up from the couch and began to pace.
“Good,” I replied eagerly, “I’ve been waiting for this since the elevator incident.”
The steel reserve cracked as she laughed out loud, “The elevator incident? You make it sound like a television scandal.”
I blushed and laughed myself, “Well it was quite scandalous. You went from almost choking me to death to almost kissing me to death.”
She sat back down and laid her head on my shoulder. I put my arm around her and held her.
“Go ahead, Taisia,” I whispered. “Tell me the truth about why you brought me here.”
She sighed and then began. She told me the history of how the Kosaryov family made their fortunes in Russia. After the Cold War ended, a young Matvei began to buy up the weapon reserves of the former Soviet Union. Stockpiles of weapons had been made over the course of the entire Cold War, and they sat unused by a government that had just began to repair itself. Matvei took advantage of this, paying off government officals, taking their weapons of mass destruction, and sending them to war torn parts of the world. As Matvei began to diversify his businesses with the technological boom, weapon sales turned into weapon development. Zvezda Industries was not just a venture capitalist company, but it was also the largest distributor of weapons to the world.

“You see, Alvin,” she continued, “my father is not just content to sell to third world countries anymore.”
              “A-81,” I gasped.
“Yes, A-81,” she confirmed. “A-81 could be the key that he needs. Imagine an army full of soldiers that felt no fear, could not feel the effects of fatigue, and could kill a man with no remorse.”
I grabbed her flask and took a long drink myself.
“So what’s to stop him from putting this out there now?”
“It’s not ready yet,” she responded. “Zvezda is still beta-testing this thing. The form that Geeneskunde was developing is not as palatable as my father wants.”
“How so? It sure felt like a finished product to me.”
“My father wants to try to find a way to make the effects last longer. Think about it. No army is going to want to have to pedal pills out to its soldiers on a regular basis. On the production side, Matvei has to find that right balance of not making the effects too sustaining as to not create a demand, but not to minute as to drive buyers away with brief effects.”
My head was spinning. “Ok, so it’s not ready yet. Good. But how does this all relate back to me?”
She got up, wrapped her arms around my waist, and put her head on my chest. We stood their holding each other for a brief moment before she spoke.
“Alvin, I’m sorry I’ve had to manipulate you like this, but I needed these rumors of you being my ‘boy-toy’ so I could have an excuse to spend alone time with you. I never wanted to compromise any relationship you had with your family”
I let her go and took a step back, feeling suddenly ashamed at having held her.
“No, no, Alvin, I actually do care about you,” she sighed, “but the real reason I brought you here is because I need your help. We need to stop my father.”
She reached for me and I pulled away.
“Alvin, you’re the only one I can trust.”
“And why’s that?” I snapped back. “You don’t even know me.”
She walked back to the couch and sat back down and looked up at me sadly.
“I know more about you than you know. Years ago, when I came to the United States for college, I had the unfortunate task of being roommates with a goofy, headstrong girl that would somehow find her way into being my friend for life, until her unfortunate passing a couple years ago.”
My heart sank in my chest and my voice cracked as I asked the question.
              “And what was her name?”
“Her name was Adelina La Monte, but she preferred to go by the name Quinn.”

Allen Gets His Team Back on Track with a Win Over Fulham

Allen heads in a 2nd half winner for QPR

Allen and his QPR teammates were determined to get a win in their match against Fulham and it was reflected in their aggressive play early. QPR pushed forward into more of a 4-4-2 formation instead of their traditional 4-1-4-1, with Granero sliding forward playing alongside Allen up front. The tactic worked, seeing QPR get 5 shots off to Fulham's 1 shot in the first half. However, Fulham keeper Stekelenburg was up to the task, parrying away each chance with authority, including a tremendous save just before the end of the half. M'Bia sereved up a perfect ball to Granero inside the box for a volley attempt that was right on target to the upper right corner, but Stekelenburg dove with a full extension and was able to dive and hold onto to ball for the great save. The frustration began to show within QPR's demeanor, but Allen would not let that stop him. He put forth an amazing effort, getting 4 shots on target, including the header that would end the draw. In the 57', Allen would get the angle on an excellent cross by Faurlin after a tremendous run by him up the wing. Allen would rise up over and angle the ball perfectly into the far corner past Stekelenburg who was defending the near post. The goal would put QPR ahead and they would not look back. Fulham would rally for a late chance, but the QPR defense held strong. They would hold on to win the match, 1-0.

Yeah its weird. It's happened a few times before where it shows "Position change LS" but it has never happened that early in a game before. I don't know if it was a glitch, but it worked well.

Struggling Spurs Find Life Against QPR

Vorm stretches but cannot make the save to keep the game scoreless

Tottenham Hotspur would travel to White City to take on QPR in a battle between two evenly matched sides. The Spurs had had a tough go of it so far, as one of the teams that was expected to complete for a top four spot found themselves squarely stuck in the middle of the table. QPR on the other hand had started a slight slide down the table themselves, and Tottenham was there to make sure that slide was going to continue. They dominated play early, with Paulinho missing a quick chance in the 5' off the post. Lamela would get the next chance for Tottenham, sending in a strike from outside the penalty area. Vorm would shuffle to his right to make the save, but the defelction would bounce right to a streaking Adebayor inside. Adebayor would try to poke the rebound into the goal, but Vorm would scramble to his feet and dive to make the incredible save to keep the game scoreless. Vorm kept his team in it, but QPR could manufacture very little on the offensive side of the ball, garnering only 4 shots to a total of 11 for the Spurs. Vorm could not hold out on the electric pace the Tottenham was attacking with, and just before the end of the half, they would finally break through. Walker would make an incredible run up the wing before cutting inside. The QPR back line shaded towards Adebayor on the right, trying to cut of the pass, but Walker just took it staright inside and took the shot himself. Vorm would make the dive to his right, but he was a handspan away from making the save. The ball would roll into the back of the net, giving Tottenham the lead in the 40'. The second half would see more of the same effort by QPR, with their star player Allen getting 0 shots on target, and only 1 shot overall. That shot would come late in the match on a great feed by Faurlin inside. Allen would be pulled by his defender and the slight hesitation made Allen sky the ball way high over the crossbar. Tottenham was able to cruise to victory with crisp passing in the midfield, preventing any more offensive output from the struggling QPR side. Walker's goal would prove the difference as Tottenham would walk away with a good win and the three points to start their climb up the table once again.

Only two losses and you're in sixth place. That's rough. Welcome to the Premier League.
