Two points across three games hurts Plymouth

Falling all the way to #12, Plymouth Argyle drops thanks to their fourth and fifth draw and fourth loss on the season. Plymouth has hopes of promotion but those goals are proving to be difficult to accomplish as the team remains unable to score goals as of late, scoring only once across three fixtures, an early Freddy Adu goal in the Northhampton fixture that would illicit a draw, otherwise a 0-0 draw to Exeter City and the surprise 2-0 defeat to Hartlepool United has the Pilgrims ailing as they head into November.

Koch has been revamping his lineup and focusing on keeping the hot hands in place, but even so, the team hasn't been capable of making a run. Conor Hourihane has seen modest growth thus far this season as he has been utilized as a rotational piece, while starting defenders Durrell Berry and Guy Branston have shown some improvement in the backend. Curtis Nelson was recently moved to the bench but has been showing some improvement as well over the course of the season.

A win helps right the ship at Plymouth

Striker Freddy Adu knocked home the go ahead score in the 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town, the win provided a much needed boost to the squad as Reuben Reid joined Adu in the scoring column, the loan has proved invaluable for Reid whom has played as one of the best players on the squad through his performances.

Against the Morecambe side, an early Reuben Reid goal wouldn't be enough after a shot ripped into the net in the 23rd minute, it would be 54 more minutes until Morecambe would strike back, tipping a header in on McCormick to tie the game up and end the fixture at a draw, which is somewhat disappointing a result.

The win however gives the team momentum and with their upcoming two fixtures being tournament bouts, they can use all that they can muster. Facing Dagenham in the opening round of the F.A. Cup is a blessing, but the following week has Wolverhampton, the #2 squad in League 1 in the Johnstone Paint Trophy matchup.

Bencherif and Reed knot two goals in FA Cup rout over Dagenham

Dagenham had four starters on the sidelines between suspensions and injuries and their effort and performance was reflective of just that scenario as the team was largely incapable in just about every facet of the game in their 5-1 loss to the Pilgrims. Rueben Reed earned man of the match honors behind two goals, Bencherif hit a goal on an empty net and added a 83rd minute blast from outside the goal box after he subbed in for Leon Goretzka.

Speaking of Goretzka, the center midfielder picked up his first goal of the season for the Pilgrims, opening the scoring in this game, which the Pilgrims jumped out to a 3-0 lead, before coasting down the stretch albeit picking up 2 more goals, with their quarter final looming against Wolverhampton, key players got their rest in as Goretzka and Adu both took a seat in the 39th minute of a 3-0 lead and substitutes played a big role in the victory.

Score in 115th minute leads Wolverhampton beyond Pilgrims

In a disappointing performance for the Pilgrim's side; they managed to send the Wolves to the brink but were unable to capitalize on 16 shots on target as the Pilgrims dominated shots in the opposition end. Freddy Adu would head in a volley but would be ruled off sides and Rueben Reed would launch a few brilliant shots that would drift wide of the iron.

Wolverhampton actually drew more fouls, had a minimial amount of shots on net and were without a corner in the entire game, but both ends of the set pieces continue to be the Pilgrims struggle as they lack a big, strong player to weave through the crowd in the goalie box.

"It's a learning experience and they are a brilliant team, we made it far into the tournament and we can only continue to grow." Let out Tyler Koch.

7-7-4 record at the end of November as Plymouth wins and draws

No major movement atop of League 2 action as the game weaved through it's third month of action, as Chesterfield continues to run away with the league, having not lost a game in 18 attempts, they appear poised to claim the league, while there is a notable glut amongst the following 3 and the 3 that follow them. Scuthorpe United, Oxford United and Southend United all sit within a victory of swapping spots, while spots 5 through 9 are all within a victory of eachother as well.

"It's a tight race and we will continue on, we won't stop here, we refuse to, we're going to make it into the promotional race." Let out a defiant Tyler Koch to supporters gathered following the teams 0-0 draw against Rochdale. The team managed to beat Dagenham the weak prior after suffering a rough loss to Wolverhampton but couldn't get more than a point against Rochdale as the attack stuttered.

"We have the talent in the forwards to put the ball in the net but we aren't quite putting it there yet, that is a fault of mine for not positioning players in the manner they would benefit the best, we will work on it as the month continues and look for talent in the upcoming transfer window." Adding Koch, who was referring to the New Years transfer window.

The team will have a busy December as they play 7 league games and add a F.A. cup affair with Stevenage to the mix of a rather full slate of games, December is truly a make or break month.

              Pilgrims demolish York City

3-0 would be the score reigning in at the final whistle as Plymouth Argyle finally makes a move to leap back into the promotion race, winning game number 8 on the year they look to continue onward in the league, Leon Goretzka added his second goal and assist in the matchup, while Romuald Boco picked up a pair of late goals in the fixture that simply cemented the teams victory.

Prior to the game, York City management were reflecting upon a near "perfect" sense of balance amongst all parts of the Pilgrim's unit and in the match they displayed that prowess quite brilliantly.

Three first-half goals lead Plymouth past Stevenage

Stevenage is on the verge of being relegated this season as they boast a 3-12-6 record that has them in 22nd with only 15 points on the season. Hoping to reclaim some of their magic in the FA Cup, they left bitterly disappointed as they fall apart and drop a 4-0 loss as four different players score for the Pilgrims.

Freddy Adu got to try out playing as a midfielder for the first time this season and shined at the positional change, even setting up a pair of assists. Leon Goretzka also held an impressive run of play as the midfielder knotted a goal and assist.

                  Pilgrim's stay hot in December

Aside from the ever burning Chesterfield side, Plymouth Argyle just may be the hottest team in League 2 at the moment, winning two against Bury and AFC Wimbeldon both fringe promotion squads and drawing a matchup against Accrington Stanley due to a late goal.

Leon Goretzka has come to life, after seemingly being relegated out of his premier attraction status, the duo of Freddy Adu and Leon Goretzka at the center field has yielded fantastic results as they earned a combined total of 4 assists and 3 goals through three games. Talking about a performance for the ages, they definitely out performed all expectations after a somewhat difficult pair of months.

Close out December with three more wins

Hartlepool, Bristol, Northampton are the latest casualties of the Pilgrim's football club as the Pilgrim's win each fixture to a 2-1 clip. Reuben Reid climbs up the scoring ranks in League 2 action, tying for the fourth spot in the league with 10 goals, following closely behind by striker Marvin Morgan with 9. The tandem accounted for 4 of the 6 goals scored in the past 3 fixtures and they are proving to work just as well together as the Leon Goretzka/ Freddy Adu experiment had worked.

Speaking of Adu? He is tied for 6th in the League with Marvin Morgan with 5 assists as he looks to climb up further on the list, which is currently led by Southend United midfielder Reid whom has 11 aiding passes to his credit thus far into the season. Lee McCormick sits at third in the league with 8 clean sheets, but substantially behind Lee of Chestefield who has 14 clean sheets to his credit.

The team has a lot of upper ranked players in the league, and that lends quite valuable to their promotional aspirations as they aim to climb further among the burgeoning environment of League 2 play which will evolve into a near fever pace as the season winds into it's final half and the new year's transfer window opens.

Much can be said for the roller coaster ride of Plymouth's 2013 year, but at the end, one word can describe this team.. fire.

Draw and loss stymies early January hopes

The blistering pace that the club utilized through their December tilts suddenly seemed to dissapate as the transfer window opened and rumours began to swirl around the club of potential movement. The team continued to trudge onward but drew and lost two very winnable games as the team began to move into another new direction.

With such success in the final month before the January transfer window, the club took advantage of that to try and maneuver older talent that was playing at a higher level into younger assets to help with a promotional run, they wouldn't manage to do just that as the team played like one that had a lot on it's mind and drew their matchup with AFC Wimbledon and lost to Dagenham.

Despite the struggles, Plymouth remains at 6, with just a point separating them and Bury but Bristol being firmly behind at 43. Plymouth still remains 7 points behind Portsmouth whom has 3 more wins and two less draws than the Pilgrims, and they will look for a more favorable position as the season continues to wind on.

Pilgrims get their man in Daniel Bachmann

Targeted in the first window, Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City couldn't complete negotiations between the clubs in time for the closure of the market but that was rectified as the teams completed a $100,000 deal for the young goalie who will slide in as the starter.

Come as a surprise after the success Luke McCormick had?

Not at all, the team actually sold him for $1,100,000. Yes a goalie that many valued at a mere $300,000 USD was shipped off for over triple that value thanks to a recent run of clean sheets and brilliant play and the remainder of the budget of a fringe team was sullen by the Bristol Rovers. The team naturally wasn't about to let go of a key player to a League rival but with that much on the table (after an initial offer of $600,000), the deal was completed and the coffers in Plymouth are huge.

The club is still in talks for an additional midfielder and a striker to replace Reuben Reed who is slated to return to his home club soon.

Manchester City destroys Pilgrim's in F.A. Cup matchup

One of the worst draws for the Pilgrim's was taking on Manchester City in their matchup which saw them take on one of the Premier League's top squads and naturally the result was about as one would expect as Manchester City escaped with a 6-0 victory in a one sided match up.

Reuben Reed drew a yellow for tangling up with David Silva on a rare shot on net and rustling with the Manchester City athlete on the ground, very nearly culling a red card but managed to be pulled off by teammates who settled down the upset forward.

Jovetic for Manchester City earned his worth almost immediately in the transfer market as the newfound striker pummeled in a hat trick in his Manchester City debut, goals off a penalty kick in the 11th minute, and regular goals in the 60th and 78th minutes, Richards and Rodwell adding the fourth and fifth goals and Neal Trotman deflected a shot into his own net for the sixth goal on a forgettable day.

How dominant was Manchester City? They held the Pilgrims to only 4 shots the entire game of which only 2 were on target. Possessed the ball at a 60/40 clip, unloaded 17 shots on target (26 total shots). They also generated more set pieces as they had 7 corners to the minuscule solitary corner for the Pilgrims.

                            Plymouth-Argyle opens the coffers

After being heavy sellers through a good portion of both transfer windows the team made another big move as they announced the transfer of Maximilian Meyer to the squad for a sum of $1,200,000, or for those paying attention a good majority of the budget that remained for the squad. Meyer has a lot of potential and was he was being floated around as a potential transfer piece due to his potential.

Than the team added Anthony Martial, AS Monaco was keen on selling him, and let him go for $350,000 in a rather surprising mood, but due to poor form, the team allowed them to part ways and giving a promising young striker to fill an inevitable void that will be left by Reed when his loan expires.

Plymouth also looked for depth beyond Daniel Bachmann whom the team acknowledges will have some growing pains and in turn shifted their attention to the MLS where they picked up youngster Jesse Gonzalez to split time with Bachmann. He was transferred for a mere 90,000 as he still requires development but he could serve as a capable backup for this season in League 2 and a loan project beyond.

Marvin Morgan is being heavily sought after; after these transfers but the team has been rebuked after opposing squads learned of their requested fees, Plymouth has made a killing in the transfer market this season routinely selling beyond projected value but with Morgan being an older athlete, it's unlikely to get much beyond the projected $450,000.

Is your Jacob Murphy, one of the famed Murphy twins who are attached to Norwich City? If so you have quite the talent on your hands and someone who should be able to do some damage on that level with his pace.

Yes he was! Got him for a steal because of his low rating to start out, and he is struggling a little bit but he is growing so I've been bouncing him around various positions to fill in for injuries, fatigue and suspensions, he does fairly well for the most part.
