I was actually controlling The Ascension in this match and the plan was for them to win the whole thing haha, but I got caught in a submission and I suck at getting out of them. Needless to say, the script is being re-written. I wasn't going to take it away from Gargano and Ciampa.

Roster Movement

Last week we heard William Regal, NXT Commissioner state he has received interest from superstars from both RAW and Smackdown who wish to join the NXT brand to compete for the new Light Heavyweight Title. For some, a new beginning, for others, a chance to slip out of the mid card shuffle they may have been lost in to find hope in a specialized title.

An interesting move here is the splitting up of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, the current Tag Team Champions. NXT loses a big name in Kevin Owens and a bruising veteran in Rhyno, however add a savvy veteran in Christian himself, as well as high flyers the Lucha Dragons and Neville.

NXT Signature Plays and we open the show with Commissioner William Regal standing in the middle of the ring.

WR: Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to N-X-T!!!

The crowd begins with N-X-T N-X-T chants.

WR: Tonight is promised to be another great show! With NXT Takeover just 3 weeks ago, we still have some Title defenses that need to be ironed out. Tonights show features four matches to help get us to that point. Tonight we see the two remaining quarterfinal match ups in the TAG TEAM Tournament to determine the #1 contenders to face Cesaro & Kidd and TAKEOVER. These matches tonight put The Bullet Club (DOC Gallows & Karl Anderson) in action against Big E and Kofi Kingston of The New Day, and The Wyatt Family in action vs Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady.

Also, we will begin the tournament to crown the very first NXT Light Heavyweight Champion. The eight men competing in this tournament will be….Austin Aries, Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn, Neville, Christian, Rich Swann, Kalisto, and Tyler Breeze.

The first quarterfinal match up tonight will be Austin Aries vs Christian. The second will be Hideo Itami vs Neville! Next week we will see Sami Zayn vs Rich Swann, and Kalisto vs Tyler Breeze.

We will also see Samoa Joe in action tonight as he takes on the returning Alex Riley…and Shinsuke Nakamura taking on Elias Sampson.

Match 1: Austin Aries vs Christian.

The crowd pops huge for Christian as he makes his way down into the ring. Christian has been lost in the shuffle over the years on RAW and Smackdown, essentially ever since his long time tag partner and best friend Edge retired. Christian is hoping for a fresh new start here in NXT, however it will have to come at a later time as Austin Aries proved why he was one of the most sought after free agents on the Market. In the end, Aries hit the brain buster on Christian to move on to the Semi Finals of the Light Heavyweight Championship tournament.



Match 2: The Bullet Club vs The New Day

This match saw a split crowd as both teams are fan favorites. We saw both Bullet Club, and New Day Rocks chants. Big E got in early offense for his team as he started the match out against DOC Gallows, however this all seemed to change when the much smaller Kofi Kingston entered the contest. Karl Anderson eventually was tagged in and began displaying his unique offensive skill set. Anderson eventually hit the Gun Stun on Kofi and cemented The Bullet Clubs spot in the Semi-Finals, taking on the winner of the match later tonight between The Wyatt Family and Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy.



Match 3: Hideo Itami vs Neville

A little upsetting in that this match had to be so early in the tournament, as this would have been an exciting championship match up. Neville and Itami start off trading blows back and forth and we see some very nice chain wrestling. Both men exchanging lots of kicks, headlocks, and reversals. Over time we get a “This is Wrestling” chant from the NXT universe Neville began to get the upper hand in this contest and goes up to the top rope to attempt The Red Arrow and misses! Itami than hit the GTS on Neville but Neville was too close to the ropes and was able to save himself at a count of two. In the end, Neville was able to finally land The Red Arrow and move on to face Austin Aries in two weeks in the Semi-Finals of the Light Heavyweight Championship Tournament.



Match 4: The Wyatt Family vs Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady

An incredible tag team match up between arguably the Most over team in the Tag Division in Cassady and Amore and the most hated, in The Wyatt Family. Enzo & Cass seemed to be distracted the whole match with Bray Wyatt on the outside barking orders at his soldiers and taunts directed in their direction. Throughout the whole match, the much smaller Enzo Amore was dominated by whichever Wyatt member was in the ring. Perhaps the Wyatt Family become cocky and let their guard down? Enzo was able to get the hot tag to Colin Cassady who went on a rampage on Harper and Rowan, which sparked a “How You Doin?” Chant from the crowd. Enzo Amore than climbed to the top turnbuckle and took out Bray Wyatt! Cassady was able to hit his finisher on Eric Rowan and picked up the Victory for his team.



William Regal then appears on The Titan Tron

WR: There we have it ladies and gentleman. The Semi-Finals are now confirmed and will take place next week.

We have American Alpha taking on Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano. And then we have The Bullet Club vs Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady. Good luck to all four teams, you have all certainly earned your place in next weeks show.



Match 5: Samoa Joe Vs Alex Riley.

It was certainly a surprise to see Riley return to NXT! We haven’t seen Riley since being demolished by Kevin Owens when he debuted in the WWE. However tonight, I’m pretty sure Riley wished he remained on the shelf as he was clearly and utterly dominated by Samoa Joe, who was making his singles action debut. Samoa Joe finished Riley off with The Muscle Buster.



Match 6: Shinsuke Nakamura vs Elias Sampson

Crowd favorite Nakamura was in top form as he knocked off Elias Sampson. Sampson looked to have the upper hand early on, however as soon as Nakamura got rolling, he was unstoppable.




William Regal appeared on the Jumbotron.

NXT RECAP

N-X-T theme song plays and the crowd is going wild!! Tonight on NXT we have the final two quarterfinal matches to determine our very first NXT Light Heavyweight Champion, plus the two semi final matches in the tag team tournament. Let’s get our opening contest underway!!

Sami Zayn’s music hits and the crowd erupts! Zayn comes out to his usual skip and dance slapping fives with the crowd and getting them pumped up for our opening contest of the night.

Zayn awaits his opponents music and out comes Rich Swann, also jumping around and getting the crowd hyped.

The bell is about to ring when Austin Aries music hits. Aries gets a loud pop from the crowd and joins Corey Graves and Byron Saxton on commentary.

CG: Welcome Austin to our broadcasting team, what brings us the honor?
AA: You’re damn right you’re honored, listen, A double takes this seriously, i WILL be the first champion, and I’m here to scout the competition. The one thing I do is I am a constant history maker. Is there something wrong with that?

BS: Do you have a favorite in this match Austin?
AA: No, I’ll beat both of them.
BS: You do know if you face one of these guys, it won’t be until the championship right?
AA: Of course I know that I’m not an idiot. I’m scouting everyone in the tournament, regardless of the brackets. How do you have a job?

CG: I ask that question every episode i work with him.
AA: Can we just watch the match? I’m tired of listening to you yap and ask stupid questions to The Greatest Man who has ever lived.


Zayn and Swann dazzle the crowd all night with fast paced action. So early into his NXT and WWE career, Rich Swann is gaining fans with each match. A stand out on the Independent scene, he garners some “All Night Long” serenades from the crowd. Swann goes for the 630 Senton Splash but Zayn rolls out of the way and hits an exploder suplex into the corner as Swann recovers from the missed splash. With Swann rattled, Zayn backs up into the opposing corner…***ns….HELLUVA KICK!!! 1-2-3. Sami Zayn advances to take on the winner of the Kalisto and Tyler Breeze Match….which is next.



CG: What did you think about that match Austin?
AA: Impressive, Sami is a hell of an athlete, but do you know who’s better?
ME! why did it take you fools so long to answer that question? Should have immediately left your mouth, no hesitation.

Match 2: Kalisto vs Tyler Breeze. Winner faces Sami Zayn next week in the Semi Finals

Both mens music hits and the match gets underway.

BS: Who do you favor in this match Austin?
AA: Jesus Saxton, let me just watch the match.
BS: It was just a question jeez.
AA: Another stupid one.

We get to see the exciting Kalisto, one of NXTs newest acquisitions take on Prince Pretty in which should be another highly contested match up. We get to see Kalisto’s unique offensive skill set early on with high risk flips and aerial attack. Eventually, Breeze gets Kalisto grounded and begins to work on his legs to aid in keeping Kalisto on his feet. This seemed to work for the most part, and Breeze looks to be on his way to facing Zayn when a reversal saw Kalisto hit The Salida Del Sol for the victory. Kalisto will face Sami Zayn next week in the Semi Finals.



CG: Thoughts on the match Austin?
AA: Not impressed. Kalisto cannot hold a candle to me, and will not get past Sami next week……Aries out.

*Commercial Break*

Match 3: Bull Dempsey vs Sting

Bull Dempsey’s music hits and out comes Bull in his Bullfit attire marching down to the ring. We are not sure why, but Bull just seems to always connect with the crowd.

The lights go out, and Sting’s music hits and the crowd goes wild!! Time passes by….and no sign of Sting. The lights come back on, and his music stops. The crowd seems confused, as does Bull Dempsey. Sting’s music hits for a second time and the lights darken….but still no sign of Sting. We then cut to the titantron with officials rushing to the back and we see Sting laying face down seemingly unconscious being attacked by……Apollo Crews!!?? What is he doing?! Why is Apollo attacking Sting?! We get several referees attempting to restrain Crews and eventually several NXT superstars have to grab Crews and bring him to the back. We see Samoa Joe get into the face of Crews and asks if he wants a fight, to pick on someone who can defend himself. Crews laughs, smiles, and says Next week! He turns his back and yells “THIS IS MY TIME”.

Match is a No Contest

Match 4: American Alpha vs Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano

Before the match even starts, we get a “This is Awesome” chant from the NXT Universe as Chad Gable and Johnny Gargano shake hands in the middle of the ring. This should be a great display of wrestling between Gable and Johnny Wrestling. It seems like each hold one gets his opponent in, a reversal is easily found. This reverses, quick counters and pure wrestling ability gets the crowd on their feet for a standing ovation. Both men shake hands again and it is Gable who gets the upper hand. Gable tags in Jordan who begins his impressive display of suplexes and power. We get some old school wrestling in ring psychology of cutting down the ring and American Alpha begin to take over the match. The crowd, laughingly starts a “Suplex City chant” to which Jordan responds with a smile. Perhaps Jordan tossed Gargano too far as he ended up near his corner and was able to tag in Ciampa. Ciampa is rolling and gets his team back into the match, however does not seem to get much help from his partner as the physical beat down from earlier took its toll. In the end, American Alpha hit their finisher to seal the victory and move into the Tag Team Tournament’s Championship Match next week, with the opportunity to face Cesaro & Kidd for the titles at NXT Takeover.



Match 5: The Bullet Club vs Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady

We get DOC Gallows and Enzo Amore to start, and DOC dominates throughout the early going. The start to this match is very reminiscent of Enzo & Cass’ last week match up vs The Wyatt Family. Attempting a second big upset in as many weeks, Enzo is able to get to Big Cass who gets the upper hand on DOC. A “How you doing” chant breaks out and Cass gets pumped up, only to find out Karl Anderson has been tagged in and hits the Gun Stun for the victory.

WR: And there we have it folks. Next week, here on NXT, We will see American Alpha take on The Bullet Club where the winner will take on Cesaro & Kidd at NXT Takeover in just two weeks. Good luck to all four of you, and go entertain our NXT Universe.

The Bullet Club continues to celebrate and American Alphas Music hits. They appear on the ramp and taunt by motioning The belts around their waist…to which The Bullet Club respond with their fingers pointed towards them as a Gun blasting.

Match 6: Mr. MITB Seth Rollins w/ Paul Heyman vs Daniel Bryan

An incredible main event featuring not only two of the top performers in NXT, but all of the WWE. Seth and Bryan display top tier wrestling and athletic ability. Bryan, who has been a resurgence to NXT since his arrival really shows why he was been named Wrestler of the Year on so many different occasions. We get many attempted Paul Heyman distractions, however being the veteran that Bryan is, does not let it phase him. Seth gets the upper hand once again and attempts a Pedigree that Bryan counters and locks in the YES! Lock for the submission victory. After the Match, a very hot Rollins attacks Bryan during his celebration.

Thanks! I wasn't going to reveal Crews yet, was going to just have Sting found unconscious and drag it a bit, but with you doing 2 mystery characters already I didn't want to jump on what you are doing in yours.

About Crews, I know he seems like the Ultimate Baby face but I think he could pull off a pretty decent Cocky Heel. May stick a mouth piece manager with him.

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN..WELCOME TO NXT!!!!

We are very close to our first TAKEOVER Special and have another jam packed show tonight to get us prepared!

Austin Aries music hits and out comes The Greatest Man Who Has Ever Lived, and it looks like we are beginning the first Semi-Final match up for the Light Heavyweight Title right now! With Aries in the ring, out comes The Man That Gravity Forgot…NEVILLE.

Aries gets in early offense and then Neville begins his attacks. Fast and furious amounts of punches and kicks, followed by an enziguri and reverse head scissors which sends Aries outside of the ring. Neville attempted to throw Aries back into the ring, however Aries grabbed him and threw him into the crowd barricade and began to get the upper hand. Aries throws Neville into the ring side stairs, and turn buckle post. Aries rolls Neville back into the ring and hits The Brain Buster for the win. Aries will now face the winner of Sami Zayn vs Kalisto at NXT TAKEOVER for The NXT Light Heavyweight Title.



Match 2: Tag Team Tournament Finals: American Alpha vs The Bullet Club

We have finally gotten down to the Championship match of the WWE Tag Team Tournament. The winners will face The current champions of Cesaro & Tyson Kidd at NXT TAKEOVER. We get American Alpha entering first, followed by The Bullet Club. Chad Gable and DOC Gallows start the match and DOC gets the upper hand. Gable is not able to get off and show off his offensive abilities vs the larger Gallows. Karl Anderson delivers suplexes of his own and cut the ring in half. After a reversal by Gable, he’s able to reach his partner Jason Jordan who delivers suplex after suplex to the opponents. Jason Jordan picks up the victory after a T-Bone suplex and we will see American Alpha take on Cesaro & Kidd at NXT TAKEOVER for the WWE Tag Team Championship.



We get a recap of Apollo Crews attacking Sting last week shown on the video board and out comes Apollo Crews, this time to a round of boos, something I’m sure he is not used to hearing in his career.

Samoa Joe makes his way to the ring and the two begin the brawl. The match ends quickly as Crews decides he does not want this fight and walks out on his opponent making Joe the winner by Count Out.



This is not the end of the night however for Crews, as STING runs out and attacks Crews as he heads up the ramp. They begin brawling and get separated by the referees. Eventually, Crews makes his way back into the ring where Joe is waiting with a Muscle Buster.

We see William Regal appear on the Titantron

WR: STING, listen, I know you are very angry with Apollo Crews. I do not blame you, as would I after his malicious and uncalled for attack last week. However this will not happen tonight. At NXT TAKEOVER, you will get your shot at Apollo Crews. The match is official: Apollo Crews vs STING at NXT TAKEOVER.

The crowd goes wild and Samoa Joe and STING leave together. Apollo Crews looks happy for some reason, and yells at STING, “That’s RIGHT BABY….TAKEOVER….IT’S ON!”


Match 4: “The Drifter” Elias Sampson vs “The Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger

This match was the epitome of a squash mash and Elias Sampson won quickly with A Spinning Powerbomb.



Match 5: “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles vs Daniel Bryan

A match that everyone was very excited to see, never got started as AJ Styles was attacked during his entrance by The Bullet Club. Bryan went for the save, however the numbers were too much and he was also beaten down.




We see William Regal appear on the Titantron

I knew something like this may happen, and I’m glad it happened tonight rather than at NXT TAKEOVER. In order to keep the NXT Championship sacred and Holy, your Bullet Club members will be BANNED from ringside. Not only that, but you will now face The Phenomenal AJ Style inside of a STEEL CAGE! And in case you plan on adding any new members, this goes to everyone in the back. Anyone who interferes in the NXT Championship match will be suspended indefinitely, without Pay!!

And as for you DOC….Karl, you will take on Daniel Bryan, and a Tag Team Partner of his choosing.

Match 6: Sami Zayn vs Kalisto. Winner faces Austin Aries at NXT TAKEOVER

We get a LUCHA! LUCHA! AND OLE! OLE! OLE! chants to start the match off. This match saw a lot of fast paced offense early and often. With how fast Zayn is in the ring, Kalisto was so much quicker, something rarely seen. Kalisto hit the Solida Del Sol, however Zayn was able to kick out at 2. Zayn began rolling on offense and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb to pick up the win and will face Austin Aries at NXT TAKEOVER.

Not personally for me as I like reading the shows as it takes less time plus there is a lot of really weird random things that the game does. I like to read them because it makes you visual things more.
