Wow. Didn't see this coming.

The Top overall Prospect in JUCO, 5 star 6'6" 250 pound QB Cameron Newton, former Gator, is headed to Auburn for an official visit Friday.

"I'd like to make my decision in about 10 days," he said. "Hopefully, I'd be a big Christmas present to the university that I choose."

Newton said he's all but narrowed his choices down to Auburn, Oklahoma and Mississippi State. He visited Oklahoma last weekend and took a trip to Mississippi State in late November.

"Those are the three schools I'm considering now," he said. "I've visited Oklahoma and Mississippi State so Auburn will be the last one, the one to top it off."

At 6-6, 245, Newton claims a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, a 365-pound bench press, a 455-pound squat, a 4.41-second 20-yard shuttle and a 38-inch vertical leap.

Woah. Looks like Rollison may have some competition for the QB spot at AU if Cam comes to AU.

This coaching staff is sick at recruiting. They have no fear and are going after nothing but the elite prospects at just about every position.

There is the POTENTIAL..POTENTIAL...that AU could land 2 5 star RBs, a 5 Star QB, and the top WRs in 3 different states..all in one class. On top of the studly O line group they already have committed.

The Washington Huskies recruiting class jumped to the top 10 (7th according to scout.com.)

Isn't that the former Florida player that stole a dead girl's laptop and ran up her credit card bill a year ago? I mean I understand she wasn't using it anymore but that's still on the jacked up side of things.

Anyways, if this guy goes to Auburn, do you think Rollison will be back? I've been hearing things about him not being able to cut it academically and being suspended.

I thought there might've been something to that. If we sign him I bet he becomes our starter next year, he's just way to talented and athletic not too. Hopefully he's all straightened out, too.


Ryan White commits to Auburn. He will most likely play corner on the Plains, but was promised a shot at quarterback.


And the reason you didn't see it coming was because Cam had asked Auburn reporters to keep it under wraps until he knew for sure. A few outside sources knew, and were saying Newton was going to visit, but the Auburn scout and rivals guys were shooting it down saying that there was no way Newton was visiting. Seems like Newton really wanted the visit, and he got it.

Very surprised at this, thought he was a lock at msu. From what I have heard, Auburn is planning on offering him and they are in his top three. I beleive that he is a EE as well, correct?

I think he will do alright, but you have to wonder why he was below brantley on the depth chart at UF. Clearly fitting meyers offense more than brantley, just wondering what he might have picked up at JUCO that he didnt have when he was at UF?

Wasn't he kicked off the team? He was the #2 his freshman year over Brantley.

I remember FSU fans saying that his departure and FSU getting stuck with Brantley was the beginning of the end for Irvin Meyers, so I'd say he's pretty good.
