You people will never know the full story. You will also never know what it is really like out there on the field. As a red shirt TTU football player let me say this. Coach Leach is in the right. Adam has been nothing but a pain all season. We all know who his dad is and are reminded of it constantly. My dad is a cop. Therefore I show up to class and drive a honda. Adam has been a prima dona since training. As for the allegations. I will say this. He is not the first raider to get a concussion. I know of two good friends who have been in the same dark room. When you have your bell rung you don't want to be out on the field. You want a quiet, dark place. And..as student athletes we are required to report to practice. So, we either stay in the training room or the trainer finds a dark place for us. Adam showed up late and in shades, Coach let him know being late was not acceptable and then let Doc take care of him. Standard procedure. You people might wanna just wait until the truth comes out. Adam James will be in the wrong. Or maybe his ESPN daddy will save his butt. I know the team is behind Coach on this one.Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
I like this analysis of the situation:
In any event, I'm imagining something like the following. Adam suffers a mild concussion and is held out of practice. Adam returned to practice wearing sun glasses told Leach that he had to wear sunglasses under doctors orders and Leach probably felt that this was a bit much, perhaps Adam didn't have the requisite respect for Leach that Leach thought he deserved. Leach then directs that Adam go into a closet and sit there and think about his actions. The James family hears about the incident and then demands that Leach apologize for his actions. Leach, being somewhat of a smart-***, probably responded something to the effect that Leach he was helping the situation as Adam needed the darkness so as to not hurt his concussion. Leach then probably asked that someone make sure that Adam actually stayed in the closet during the team practice. I think it's been reported that there was a "guard" present, but I seriously doubt there was an armed guard blocking Adam from leaving the confined space.
Leach was then asked to apologize and he said no. In fact, I would bet that Leach offered that he was doing Adam a favor by not putting him in direct sunlight.Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
It's certainly starting to seem (to me, at least) that Leach is in the right here.
If Tech fires him because of this, have fun returning to irrelevance in college football. Leach'll be unemployed for about a day before he lands a gig elsewhere.Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
I wonder about that. I'm sure he'll be hired. But @ what level? If all Leach had to do was apologize & this would have blown over, & yet he refused, who would want that kind of loose cannon in their employ? A program desperate to get to the big stage wouldn't mind. But a program w/some history behind it would probably look the other way.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
The whole apologize thing kind of makes his case tho. Why would you apologize if you knew you did not do anything wrong. Leach is not a stupid guy despite his craziness and even has a law degree. In the same token if you knew you did something wrong why would you not just apologize to save yourself.
I was in a similar situation @ work. My superiors wanted me to apologize to a patient cause she said I damaged her arm. & I knew & proved it wasn't me because I was on vacation that week. Thus, I refused to do so. They stayed on me for that for a long time. I guess they knew they couldn't force me or fire me because I had the proof. But they were afraid of a lawsuit & just wanted the thing to go away. There was no way, though, that I was going to say sorry just to appease some crazy person's imagination.
So I see Leach's position. If he truly had no ill intent, I admire him for standing his ground. But I know there is a cost.Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
I think its safe to say Leach has coached his last game in Lubbock. You don't suspend your HC before a bowl game & you don't sue your employer if both sides think they have a future together.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
Leach and the AD(Gerald Myers) has been going at it for years. they don't like each other and the AD has been basically trying to find ways to fire him. of course when Tech was winning games and getting the university noticed outside of West Texas, it wouldn't make any sense to fire him. the AD seems to be using this as a way out on firing Leach.
from what I hear, most of the fans/town hates the AD there and prays for the day he retires/leaves. current/ex-assistant coaches and players seem to be defending Leach.Last edited by Solidice; 12-29-2009, 11:34 PM.Comment
