Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
I can't find the quote but it was just on sportscenter. Adam James was disciplined two days before "dark room" for poor effort during practice according to the WR Coach at TT. WR Coach also thought this was his way at getting back at the coaches. So the story continues.Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
Has anyone outside of the James family said anything publicly to support Adam?Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.
Thanks, dookies!Comment

This story is just odd. Something isn't adding up. The comments from the TTU WR Coach were very interesting about James' work ethic and overall attitude toward the coaches and team."Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.”Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
No other players have come forward!!! This is laughable. James isn't happy with his playing time and is whining. Bear Bryant almost killed players in Junction,TX and he got an offer to coach Alabama. This is all on the James family.Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
a look at the "shed" and "closet" that Adam was apparently sent to. obviously it's from Leach's side of the story since it's his lawyer.

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
When I first read this I thought, OMG WTF is wrong with Leach.
After about 5 mintues of research, it appears evident that it's probably Leach being a smart *** to a soft whiny player.
Leach may be quirky but the guy is smart. He wouldn't do something stupid. He probably just got tired of the kids attitude.
Society is becoming so soft. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tech fire Leach. They have been trying to get rid of him for a while and this may be the reason they needed.***My Teams***

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
I wish my coaches would have made me stand in a dark cool room as punishment when I was on my high school team. "This isnt intramurals bother. This is Division 1 football" even if Leach was just punishing him this still is a non-factor. Oh poor kid had to stand for two hours. Dont they stand for practice anyways? You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
Ex TT, now UH offensive coordinator Dana Holgerson has some very interesting things to say about young Mr. James.
Houston area news, weather, traffic, sports and breaking news from FOX 26 Houston. Watch live 57.5 hours of news and local programming every week on KRIV.
HOUSTON - Texas Tech coach Mike Leach has asked a state court in Lubbock to grant him a temporary restraining order that will allow him to coach in the Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2.
Leach filed the motion Tuesday which is expected to be heard Wednesday morning in Lubbock in the 99th District Court.
Leach was suspended by Texas Tech Monday while the school investigates a complaint filed by receiver Adam James and his family.
James is the son of Craig James, former star at Stratford High School and currently a college football analyst for ESPN.
The Associated Press reports a person close to James with direct knowledge of the situation contends the player was twice forced to stand in a small, dark place while the team practiced.
In his filing Leach wrote he "would never intentionally harm or endanger a player" and that he has been "forced into this situation without being afforded any process."
A number of current and former members of the Texas Tech football team have written e-mails to the school on Leach's behalf.
One of those e-mails was written by University of Houston offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen.
Holgorsen worked for Leach at Texas Tech for eight years, the last three as offensive coordinator.
FOX 26 Sports has obtained a copy of the e-mail written by Holgorsen.
"I am writing this letter on behalf of Mike Leach in regards to the Adam James situation," Holgorsen writes in his e-mail. "I was the inside receiver coach at Texas Tech when we made the decision (to) sign Adam James in January of 2007. Adam had no offers to play NCAA D1 football during and after his senior year. After a conversation between Coach Leach and Adam's father Craig, Coach Leach acquired a brief highlight tape of Adam and made the decision to take him as a scholarship student athlete.
"I was opposed to doing so in (the) belief he was not a D1 football player," Holgorsen writes in his e-mail. "Coach Leach overrode my opinion and Adam became a Red Raider. During the rest of my time at Texas Tech I was Adam's position coach where I always remained critical of Adam's ability to play at this level due to being lazy in not only the classroom but also in the offseason and during practice.
"Coach Leach was the one who kept saying he believed Adam would eventually contribute. Adam's teammates believed he was selfish and were constantly getting on him for lack of effort as they sensed entitlement on his part due to his father being a very good football player. Adam eventually ended up playing a little after I left due to his body type being able to do some TE (tight end) sets which consists of around 5-10 plays a game.
"Adam should be thankful for the opportunity to play at Texas Tech and for Mike Leach, who gave him the opportunity," Holgorsen writes. "In my opinion playing 5-10 plays a game in an outstanding offense is more than he would get at any other school in NCAA D1 football."
The e-mail was sent Dec. 25.
Holgorsen was not available for comment Tuesday. However, he did issue a statement to FOX 26 through the University of Houston.
"I wrote this in support of Coach Leach for the sole purpose of the Texas Tech administration," Holgorsen said in his statement. "Coach Leach is someone I have worked with, played for and known since 1989."
Houston officials also noted after the statement that Holgorsen and the UH Athletics Department staff will provide no further comment on this issue.
A message left on Craig James' cell phone by FOX 26 Sports has not been returnedComment

Being a Tech fan, do you really want Leach to leave? He has made Tech relevant and he has proven he can beat OU and Texas.

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
Leach can do better than Tech though. I wouldn't want to work where your bosses hates your guts. I watched some of the news clips from Lubbock, the stations seems to be backing Leach for the most part. honestly, I have not seen anyone, outside of the James' family, backing Adam. Myers is just using this as a cause to fire Leach.Last edited by Solidice; 12-30-2009, 01:29 AM.Comment

Re: Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
heck, if I would have welcomed going to that "shed" back when I was playing football in high school. 100+ degree weather in full pads was not a cool feeling. lol even when someone got injured, you would have to be out in that heat with the team. I guess the times have really changed and I'm only 24.Last edited by Solidice; 12-30-2009, 02:48 AM.Comment
