    Re: 2011 Recruiting Thread

FSU picks up commitment #14 from Unevaluated RB Devonta (pronounced D-von-tay) Freeman from Miami, FL. RB Coach Eddie Gran fell in love with him at FSU's camp last week and offered him quickly. He also reportedly has an offer from Auburn and it's believed he'll pick up many more come Fall. He backed up 4* RB Brandon Gainer last year while coming off an injury. The way I see if Eddie Gran (who Auburn fans called the best RB Coach in America) is sold on the kid, I am too.

This is the third recruit FSU has landed this year by being way ahead of the curve in evaluating players, the other two being now 4* DT Nile Lawrence-Stample and QB Jacob Coker.

As for Jacob Coker, the more I hear about him the more I like him. For him to have been offered overall of the other highly rated QBs FSU was in the mix for Fisher must see something he really likes. Supposedly he has a big, big time arm but it's just never seen because of the offense they run at his HS. So I guess in that regard he could be compared to Anthony Morelli, the former 5* QB who went to PSU (but never lived up to the hype) and from what I've heard his film resembles that of Christian Ponder from HS.

It also appears that 4* (could play his way up to a 5*) OL Bobby Hart from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale will be committing to FSU in the very near future.

I am not expecting greatness from Scott, but I am excited for a few reasons. First the talent is there somewhere, Running for 3200 yards and 45 TDs in 1 season in High school is not easy to do. Second, Holtz and his staff discovered and developed Chris Johnson at ECU, and while I am not expecting him to be nearly as good, I trust Holtz much more in developing Talent than I did Leavitt.

And that is against 6A competition in Florida, his footwork is amazing and he has a good, low running base. I am guessing he'll end up with a high 4* evaluation by the end of the season. BTW, was that reverse field run against the team in blue and gold against St. Thomas Aquinas?

4* OT Kiaro Holts commits to North Carolina; second straight year the Tar Heels have snagged a stud offensive tackle from Indiana. Random and bizarre, but impressive.

like to hear your thoughts on Steward naming Clemson his leader. I know its early but I will take it cause I think Clemson will be in it till the end. Also hear Jimbo really wants Marlin Lane but that kid hates Tallahassee.

I feel him, Full ride living a football player's lifestyle, or not, I would NEVER live in Tallahassee or Gainesville. Far too boring for me.

My take, he had a really good time at Clemson's camp but come NSD he'll be wearing Garnet and Gold. As for Lane, I've never heard FSU was that interested in him, but as you said it might have been because he didn't like Tally and from there it wasn't worth the time to recruit him. From what I heard about how Devonta Freeman looked at camp and going off his film (when he was playing injured) RB is done except for Crowell out of Georgia or someone coming out of the blue with a monster senior year (sort of like Ty Jones did).

Steward's likely headed out of state.

Gonzaga High 3-Star Quarterback Kevin Hogan to Stanford.

This is the 9th Quarterback prospect to sign or commit to Stanford from the 2009 class until now (2010 SC QB David Olson committed not to long ago to greyshirt). One has to wonder when QB became a more than one man-per-snap position.

Stanford is killing it now in Recruiting with a decent football program being ran by a great coach in Harbaugh and to add Academics that school has tons to offer recruits now.

They also have to over-recruit due to their academic standards and seem to lose 3 players a year for that reason alone.
