Fan talk at most but if there is anything to it, its likely just posturing by whatever Penn State officials are talking about such so that a team or two to the east would get picked up. The loss of money that would come along with Penn State moving to the ACC would make such a move's maker out to be extremely incompetent.

My impression is that they would only make such a move if they were following Notre Dame. But even still, for the most part I agree with you.

Me too. If the current schools could cut their frenzied antics and reform a true partnership, they + the schools above would be a really nice league.

They seemed to have pretty good coverage all the moves last year, as well as Pitt and Syracuse just last week. So I actually trust ESPN on most things conference realignment. How are they supposed to foresee presidents voting this way or that way, or conferences changing their mind?

EDIT: And why is the amount of Texas schools such a big deal this time around? No one thought it was unfair when the SWC had 8 Texas schools. If geographical/historical reasons really matter to some of you as much as you say it does, then TCU would be perfect in the Big XII. All the SWC teams played each other every year for 8 decades. 1915-1996. So that seems pretty historical if you ask me.

The way I see it, until TCU actually joins (I know they're pretty much in) in July 2012, they're still available.

The last 2 days shows why DeLoss Dodds is the best AD in the country. He got what UT really wanted in a mostly unchanged Big 12, hasn't budged on the LHN, and has used OU to get rid of Beebe who UT is not that fond of. What did they pay for it? At most 2 million dollars a year in their uneven distribution of Tier 1 TV rights being taken away. The man is a freaking genius.

That's like saying someone who starts every hand with four Aces is the world's best poker player.
