I'm not here to talk about that. FYI - not everything thread on this CFB board is about Auburn. Try to comprehend that.

If you didn't bother to read (which, you clearly didn't), I posted yesterday that I did think A&M was probably going. I still do.

I have been reading up on Big XII writer's sites for the past two days and finding some useful information. When I try to pass it along here, I get a response so completely asinine as to almost be a joke. It is in in line with so little facts that it appears to possibly be a parody.

But then I see who wrote it, and I just have to shake my head.
Oh, my post was definitely not about AU. Just using that as one example of your less than exact predictions.

Another being...of course...the "non story" about the Aggies that has now turned into THE story.

So in short....I disagree with you. Completely.

So A&M bolts to the SEC, OU says screw this I'm going to the Pac whatever...etc How the hell does this effect the BCS and when do they make the determination if a conference still applies for an automatic bid? I can see the Auto-bid being the one thing that may hold the Big-XII together?

I definitely think the Pac 12 will pounce once this goes down.

Wouldn't be shocked to see both the the Pac 12 and SEC go to 16 teams within 3-5 years after this.

I'm sure someone could dig up a boatload of predictions that you've made in the past that ended up being way off.

I think his reasoning makes some sense. It's at least a possibility the conference stays at 9 teams for a while if A&M leaves.

I'm not even sure the teams in a 14-team SEC would end up with larger revenue distribution amounts than a 9-team Big XII would if the current contracts stayed in place.

But, it looks like this could be the domino that starts a large chain reaction.

Mizzou would almost certainly jump to the BIGTEN and maybe Kansas as well. Would love to poach Texas but I doubt it. Iowa State would benefit us as well.

The guy is jumping all over me for saying what many others have said. That Texas has too much control in that conference and will only get more as time goes on.

Have you seen their ESPN contract details? Remember when Nebraska and Colorado left? Two examples of Texas basically being a school yard bully.

Schools like Baylor and Iowa State and Kansas State have no choice but to put up with it because, most likely, they aren't getting any BCS conference invites anytime soon. If the Big 12 goes down, they'll have some issues finding a BCS level home.

When A&M leaves, what reason does a team like Oklahoma have to stay? To "keep the traditions going"? To be a team player?

When this happens, the Sooners would be the next target of conferences like the SEC, Pac 12, Big 10, etc. I can promise you that the enticements will be too much for a 9 team Big 12 to match. Just my .02.

I could see Texas in the B1G Ten, if for no other reason than it's academic and athletic profile is similar to UT's.

A&M to SEC is going to be a done deal sooner or later, and I don't blame them.

That contract is crazy, and it won't allow them to join the Big 10 when the Big 12 comes to end.

Re: A&M to the SEC starting to blow up again on Twitter

We've seen this song and dance before

The beginning of the end came in 1990 when Arkansas announced it would leave for the Southeastern Conference. The death blow came in March 1994 when Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech accepted invitations to join with the members of the Big Eight Conference to form the Big 12 Conference. Soon afterward, SMU, TCU, and Rice accepted invitations to join the Western Athletic Conference, while Houston joined Conference USA. In May 1996, after the completion of championship matches in baseball and track & field, the Southwest Conference was officially dissolved.
Over the course of its 82-year history, teams of the Southwest Conference garnered 64 recognized national championships in collegiate sports.
In 1997, the official records of the conference from 1914 to 1996 were moved from Dallas to the campus of Texas Tech University, becoming part of the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library. The archive also contains an extensive assortment of images and memorabilia from each member university.
Change a few of the school names and you have SWC Death Version 2.0. Texas A&M has the Arkansas playbook out and they are playing the Teasips for everything they got.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, better start falling in line, because the front door to the SEC, will close quickly at 14 teams.

                              Regarding the LHN:
                              1. There is no such thing as an iron clad contract---everything is negotiable. If UT and/or ESPN need to restructure the deal they can;
                              2. We're three weeks away from UT's first game, and (at least in Houston) neither DirecTV, Phonoscope nor Comcast has announced any plans to carry the channel. Uh-oh...

There is one option I can see. Texas reforms most of the Southwest Conference (minus Arkansas/Texas A&M) and brings back SMU and Houston into the fold.

However it all goes back to, do you want to be a Texas whore or make Texas your whore?
