Sort of, kind of, but not really. It's just that UNC, Duke, and Wake Forest are priority-one basketball schools, so NCSU gets painted as this football school when that isn't necessarily true (though football is much bigger here than elsewhere in NC). Also, the fact that NCSU's basketball team has sucked since 2006 (until this year) has helped to fuel the notion that it is a football school. If the basketball team continues to win, though, I think you'll see this demeanor change to some degree.
Frankly, the Big East doesn't have much, but from what I understand, NBC Sports really wants in on college football (aside from showing depleted MWC games) and the Big East is their only option. This could fuel a bidding war between NBC Sports and ESPN which could drive the value much higher than what the Big East probably deserves. Also, still remember that Big East basketball is still very good and the Big East still has huge media markets in the Northeast.
Regardless, in light of other deals signed recently, the ACC's deal isn't very good, regardless, and if FSU leaves, then there will be even further pain.
