Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
The ACC presidents flat out don't respect U of L's academic prestige, and that's why UCONN will be the newest member of the ACC.
BTW, I was a defender of ESPN in the narriative that ESPN was trying to screw the Big East and drive down its TV contract value. Kinda hard to keep up that defense, when the ACC picked up Notre Dame and now these potential moves. I don't think ESPN approached the Big Ten and told them to consider expansion to get more money, but when the Big Ten came to them, I'm sure ESPN saw it as another chance to stick it to the Big East and made it very known that they would be paid well for these moves.Last edited by cdawg44; 11-18-2012, 11:22 AM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Well they are not very good in football or basketball, adding UCONN or Louisville would be a upgrade IMO.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

U of L will NOT be an ACC member in the near future even though I think they may fit with an rapidly improving football squad and their status as a basketball power.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
One thing I would like would be how it gives Big Ten schools access to the east coast for recruiting and TV viewership. It would also finally put the conference into a state that's growing rather than stagnant. Could be some benefits there.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)Comment

OTOH, Maryland Basketball....**** yes.
But for football, ugh. Hopefully Rutgers can keep their program up to the standards of the recent years, but damn, Maryland's football is a dumpster fire and adds nothing.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
And even from a Basketball perspective, it doesn't make sense because you're leaving one of and soon to be the best conference in the Country in another year for the Big Ten?
Football wise, it doesn't matter to me although it may help them sell out Byrd Stadium since they'll be getting Penn St, Ohio St and Michigan, all 3 which have some of the biggest fanbases in the DC Area, along with Va. Tech.
Basketball wise-Not true.
But then again, you're a Syracuse Fan so it's possible that we have different standards as to what's considered good. For example, Maryland going say 18-12 with a decent conference record is good but for Syracuse standards, that's probably way below their standards.#RespectTheCultureComment

RU basketball has always sucked and probably will continue to suck when you have the best state recruits going so far as to friggin UCLA instead of staying in state. Mens Basketball needs a LOT of work.
I'm hoping the "prestige" of the B1G will give a slight recruiting boost in both for keeping area kids.HELLO BROOKYLN.

U of L is stuck unless the Big 12 expands again, and that isn't happening, because OU and Texas love no championship game and they are getting paid well already."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Well joining the B1G will probably not see Rutgers have 10 - 1 seasons for a while, though I think against everyone outside of UM and OSU we have a shot.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Rumor is that UMD is doing this before the ACC falls apart. Supposedly FSU & Clem are looking to leave.
The FSU admin are idiots though so I don't see how they would leave.
Also the $50 million exit fee will not stand up in court. UMD may try to leave this year to further help their case.Comment
