Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
one of the things about re-alignment that is strange to me is checking future schedules. i remember in the old days, you'd be able to look at future schedules and kinda know who would rotate on or rotate off the conference schedule years in advance.
all the schedules next year are like "tentative". and there's always the chance that your conference will expand and you'll have to re-schedule non conference games. (like what happened with the SEC and having to have OOC games at the end of the year)
this takes a lot of the art out of scheduling non conference games if you ask me. you used to have the ability to look at future football schedules and know who you are playing.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
did you guys hear Coach Krzyzewski's comments on re-alignment? he said that he "hates" the fact that schools are pursuing more revenue with conference realignment at the expense of decades of traditions in college sports. i think he summed it up quite well succinctly in the video.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I beg to differ. All this started when conferences got the ability to control tv contracts and distrubution in the 1980s. Plus the dissolving of the Southwest Conference with the creation of the Big XII and the formation and sucess of the SEC Championship game all led to this."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush
My Teams:
NCAA Football: USC Trojans
NCAA Basketball: UNC Tarheels
NFL: Houston Texans
Premier League: Arsenal
NHL: Carolina HurricanesComment
