Add that together and FSU shouldn't be getting the same money as the bottom half of the ACC. The ACC is run by incompetent UNC grads who only care about basketball. FSU is being run by someone with no backbone and has shown that they will continue to lose out on money to the SEC. When UF SEC money and they haven't even signed their new deal, FSU's disadvantage is only going to get bigger.

Sure the ND move helped keep the league alive, but ND isn't a member and isn't sharing money. Now FSU is stuck. They have no options except to wait until the ACC folds. FSU doesn't have the money to even pay the 50 million. Their only hope is that the ACC brings in some Big12 teams and drops the terrible football teams in the conference.
That post reeks of arrogance, Massnole, is that you? you make it sound like FSU is competing for National Titles every year(it's been a decade since they were even in the picture)!

I will spell this out as clear as I can, the SEC does not want FSU, they add nothing as far as TV sets go. If the BIG12 was a better option they would have went when they had the chance, and going to any other conference would mean ridiculous travel costs.

The SEC signed a deal with ESPN creating the SEC Network. I think this makes it a lot less likely for Vandy to leave.

Some rumors swirling around of Houston in talks with the Big 12. It would be more of a political move if anything. Fun times in Texas it seems.

Why would they add Houston? Stupid add if there's actually any truth to it.

From my understanding it would be a political move against Rick Perry. Who is the Texas governor and a big A&M supporter.

Mostly this. Another factor is this: between LSU and TAMU, East Texas (which is home to the nation's 4th largest city) is rapidly becoming SEC country. I can't imagine that sits well with the power brokers in the Big (Almost) XII.

Having said all that, I believe these rumors are just that.

"A University of Houston spokesperson said radio report out of Florida concerning UH being in talks with the Big 12 is inaccurate."

Well...nuts. Berman is the absolute gold standard for sports journalism here in Houston. If he says there's nothing to this, you can take that to the bank.

There are much better ways for politicians to measure each other. Seems that bevo can't seem to let by-gones be by-gones.

It's not about football with UT and Perry. There's this whole notion that Perry is messing too much with the university (i.e. trying to replace President Powers, etc.) in terms of the academic side of things. Lots of little things that all come back to the UT/A&M rivalry outside of sports.

The idea behind picking up Houston would be that it would gain favor with the UH alumni in the government and prevent Perry from doing anymore of whatever he's already done that has UT all riled up.
