#19 Auburn at #1 LSU CBS 2:30pm cst

I believe we are a 23.5 point underdog at last look. I can't remember the last time we were that big of an underdog. Maybe 2007 going to Florida.

Clint Moseley will be the starter at QB and Emory Blake will play which is huge for AU considering Blake's playmaking ability at WR. Trovon Reed is also expected back at WR.

Obviously, LSU is and should be the heavy favorite. They are clicking on all cylinders and Jarrett Lee is playing very "un-Lee-like". Their defense is sick..plain and simple. AU hasn't won in Baton Rouge since my junior year at AU in 99.

Key to the game for AU...the passing game, the passing game, the passing game. Moseley is going to have to hook up with Blake/Lutz/Reed and make LSU pay for stacking the box, which they will most definitely do.

The Auburn punt and kick game is a huge weapon for AU in this one IMO. If Auburn can avoid giving LSU points via turnovers, LSU is going to have to go 60-80 yards to score given Clark's incredible punting and Parkey's propensity for touchbacks. That's big. The Auburn defense has done a complete 180 since the first 3 weeks of the season. Is it an elite defense? no. But it is vastly improved and if we keep playing like we have the last 3 weeks, it's playing well enough to give us a chance if the O can be effective.

I think LSU wins the game something like 27-13. I think it will be a one score game for most of the first half and 3rd quarter, but I do expect LSU to pull away late. I just don't see our passing game being effective enough against the LSU secondary.

If we can get some big passes, then we have a chance. Dyer is as good as any back LSU will face this year and O Mac is always deadly on the end arounds. If Moseley can support our ground attack with the pass, AU most definitely has a chance.

    But I don't see it.

Malzahn's gonna have to draw up a script on the level 09 Iron Bowl game for us to even have a shot in this one.

Auburn being 23.5-point underdogs is a bit excessive, I think, but LSU should win rather easily, IMO.

One thing about John Chavis...he has had his struggles as a DC against the spread. See West Virginia this year, his time at UT with Meyer at UF, and obviously our game against LSU last year with 400+ yards rushing.

I think we'll play our best game of the year. Don't know if it will be enough though. Avoid giving LSU points via turnovers and we have a chance.

Sagarin's Predictor ratings have LSU at #2 and Auburn at #43, with a rating differential of 26 (meaning LSU would be a 26 point favorite on a neutral field).

Vegas tends to go off those.

Vegas doesn't miss very often. With the way LSU has been going for the throat in 4th quarters, 23.5 is about right. First career start is at LSU? LOL. What the hell kind of move is that?

Clint deserves the start because he's performed better in his opportunity. Barrett has regressed as the season has gone on.

Scott Van Pelt had a Vegas odds-maker on his show last week and he was talking about the house losing money the first third of the season because of novice betters betting on the favorites and winning. He said the lines are getting higher to get people to bet on underdogs so the house can make money.

Not saying that's what's going on in this instance, but just throwing it out there.

Personally, the line looks about right to me. I don't think Auburn will be able to keep this game close.
