The fact of the matter is, the ACC won't die. We're too strong in basketball, with Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Pitt, Sometimes VT, Clemson, Boston College, FSU, and Wake Forest are strong and NCSU is getting better.

Basketball might be the only thing holding the conference together, that and the $20 Million dollar exit fee.
    NCAAF- Clemson Tigers
    NFL- Buffalo Bills
    MLB- Boston Red Sox
    NBA- Chicago Bulls

That didn't work for the Big East.

I agree that the ACC won't die, but it may very well in in a depleted state if FSU and some others get poached.

Here's a good article a friend found. Proves SEC wanted FSU but they were more worried about the ACC...

For the ones saying it was all because it was the teams that voted against it this time. FSU had there chance to join 20 years ago

There is no doubting that Bowden didn't want to join the SEC and picked the ACC for the easier path. He is still saying the same thing. That was also a different SEC at the time.

They're always hyped up because people want them to be good. They just don't have it anymore.

Since VT lost 8 starters on offense and several on defense, truly the only team right now, with SEC-type talent is, let's be honest here, and I'm not just saying this, its Clemson. They're defense is on the way up and they have a top notch offense, which includes, if not the best one of the best WR's in Sammy Watkins and overall receiving core with DeAndre Hopkins, Juran Brown, etc.

So if you plan on seeing a team from the ACC jump ship to the SEC, most likely, it'll be Clemson. Besides, the SEC has invited Clemson several times in the past.

Let me know when an SEC D gives up 70 points.

How many yards did your top notch O put up last time you faced a true SEC D? Hint it was less than 200. (152)

How many points did the last SEC team clemson face put up on them? 34

Clemson will never get into the SEC. They will never be good enough.

Along with one of the best offensive lines, 2 big wide recievers (6'4 and 6'2) that were near unstoppable (Both 1st round talents), and a back-up runningback (another 1st round talent) that would've started on any other team in the country?

The initial expansion brought in Miami and Virginia Tech and the conference didn't expand for football? What?

Further, the notion that no one watches the ACC is misguided; their aggregate television vieweship numbers are better than the Big XII and Pac12.

Riding on the coat tails of the SEC. When has USCe ever done ANYTHING? At least Clemson has a national championship. Clemson is more deserving of being in the SEC than SC.

I'm skipping to the end because I'm lazy so this might have already been said. But the SEC has never offered Clemson anything. I have no idea where that came from. Plus I'm fairly certain the SEC offered FSU during the expansion in 92 and instead got South Carolina.

Clarification: South Carolina left the ACC in the 1970s and played as an independent for two decades before joining the SEC. The SEC did not directly take a team from the ACC, as it were.

I think it's absurd to say Florida State is single-handedly killing the ACC when we can easily blame it on Clemson or Nick Saban.

Actually not a good read at all. He implies, nay flat out states that we should always be up and carry the conference. How many other conferences rely on one team to maintain the profile of an entire conference? He neglects to mention the 12 ACC titles (that includes 9 straight) and two national championships (losing 3 other games that could have resulted in more) since joining the conference. In that time, who else stepped up? In our "mediocre" years we have had 0 losing seasons and made a bowl every year. In the last two years we beat both rivals and took care of business against Spurrier and Notre Dame. Shouldn't the rest of the league outside of Clemson, VaTech, and one or two others be as consistent? Over the last two decades we have done more than our fair share to elevate the rest of the league. But he only focuses on the last few to make his attack. I mean point. I was scratching my head until I saw where he attended college, then it all became clear. This was not an unbiased viewpoint by an impartial sports writer.

He's no more right-on than Bianchi when he writes his criticisms of the Noles while wearing his Tim Tebow underoos.
