It would destabilize too much and lead to so many smaller programs shutting down which is the exact opposite of what collegiate athletics should be doing.
It's going to happen. The G5 can't pay players. The P5 make all the money, they will want to control the money. They will need to do something to increase revenue once they have to start paying players. They will either consolidate power or break from the NCAA if they have too.

They don't care about the G5 schools they don't make them money and it costs them some money to play them.

What makes you think we are going to see the schools paying players themselves anytime soon? Nothing really points towards that. The only thing that seems possible at the moment is something similar to the Olympic Model which wouldn't kill the G5 at all.

I just don't see it at all.

The NCAA doesn't pay anyone, they won't start now and if they do, each school will have to contribute money. If you are saying they just get endorsement deals, that kills the G5. You have to be seen on TV, primetime, etc. Endorsements are even worse than just paying them. Are they going to bring the shoe contracts into football like they exist in basketball? It would be terrible for Nike and Adidas to get involved in deciding where players go like they do in basketball. Then you have players fighting over what time and channels games are on. It would be a disaster because it will make all that stuff more prevalent since there would be agents involved.

The P5 doesn't need the G5 or the NCAA. I think once players are being paid, they will break away and form their own league under the P5 conference commissioners. They keep the money and set the rules they want.

Agree 100%. I think it's inevitable that they split either within the NCAA with their own division, or leave the NCAA and create their own division.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on how we see it playing out in the future.

So Florida is likely going to be very thin a DT against Miami. Campbell is banged up and hurt his groin. Hard to imagine he'll be 100% and a hurt groin is nothing minor. Concliffe looks to be retiring from the sport completely. Slaton and Ancrum are both suspended(as is Brad Stewart).

That's potentially a big deal. The middle of their defense was already a question mark entering the season, as was the safety spot and the secondary depth. Those hits to the DT position could be killer for game 1 of the year.

It will be a tough battle for both teams, but Miami's interior OL is actually looking pretty solid with Donaldson and Scaife anchoring the guard spots. They are by far the best two linemen on the team. They are the only proven ones that are known entities. Donaldson was a freshman AA and Scaife was graded as one of the top 5 freshman tackles all of last year by PFF. Guard is where he looks more natural so the interior line looks potentially solid going into the new year.

If that interior is solid and Miami can find some success running the ball early and goes at the middle of Florida's defense, the big lack of depth could become a major factor as the game wears on and those tackles are fatigued.

That's definitely something to keep an eye on this Saturday.

Looking like Ancrum plays, Slaton stays suspended. That's a boost for the Gator DT room. Hopefully Manny plays a similar game and delays some suspensions for the Bethune game.

Because the fanbase demanded it, next season (2020) Florida State is going back to white numbers on the home jerseys.

And yes, the FSU football twitter account really tweeted this out as an announcement.

This is stupid, you get suspended and you hurt the team. It will stop some players from doing things to get suspended. Stop making the penalty less by just saying don't worry, you won't miss the big game to start. You can miss the preseason game.

I mean, they really just need to chalk up the rebrand as an L, and take it back.

                          This is a great uniform.

Penn State is similar...no need to change a classic.

With the news out of Seattle today it appears that every big transfer QB is going to be the starter.

                            Except for Tathan.
