Re: Week 5 Discussion
I know people are going to hate, but Ohio State just keeps on winning. 17 in a row. They aren't dominant, they aren't consistent, yeah they aren't playing world beaters, but there is something to be said for winning consistently like this.
Braxton looked great through the air and shook off some rust on the ground. Second half they dialed it back to run the clock, which I can get but in retrospect it might've been good to keep your foot on the pedal.
Big blow in losing Christian Bryant. Great player and a true leader that will be missed, especially against Northwestern next week.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: Week 5 Discussion
Alabama and Oregon are quite a bit better than the rest of college football, just like last year.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 09-29-2013, 01:09 AM.I write things on the Internet.

Re: Week 5 Discussion
Finally home from that UW game. Good lord, that was some atrocious weather. Always fun to be in some sideways rain . What a blast that was, and an interesting game. Good to see the Huskies grind out a victory there. Sure would've sucked to sit through all that rain for a defeat. Now comes the real test of whether Washington has actually improved with Stanford on the road then Oregon back home. Then we'll see if this team is for real.Comment

Re: Week 5 Discussion
OSU's 2012 season was one of the flukier undefeated seasons in recent memory. They won a lot of close games...and did so against an average schedule (and a bad one for a BCS conference team). Most of the advanced ratings systems I'm aware of had them in the late teens/early 20s.
It's kind of like if an NFL team went 16-0, but won all 16 games by 3 points. In a retrospective sense, 16-0 is a hell of an accomplishment. But in a predictive one, they're nothing more than an above-average team.I write things on the Internet.

Re: Week 5 Discussion
I think both have shown vulnerabilities. There are a couple teams in their respective conferences that could take them down any given day.Comment

Re: Week 5 Discussion
Which part?
IMO, it's a down year for CFB. Alabama has pretty serious holes for a consensus #1 team and Clemson and Ohio State are relatively weak top 5 teams. Stanford looked great today, but they were sluggish against SJSU and Army. Stanford is actually Army's closest loss this year. Oregon has looked like Oregon, but they have a tough conference schedule.
Still, I think Alabama and Oregon are solidly better than anyone else in the country. Doesn't mean they'll meet for the championship game, but quantitatively, they're the clear #1/#2.I write things on the Internet.

It seems like some people have been saying it is a down year in college football on this forum for the last seven years, to be honest...Comment

I think it's a great year for CFB. Bama, Oregon, Clemson, Stanford, Ohio State, LSU, and UGA all have squads that can win the title this yearSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

I'm pulling for Stanford this year to win it all. I like the universities you don't hear involved in scandals and those who have quality students.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
