JoJo Kemp just adding fuel to the fire for Florida this week. Def won't be looking ahead to Alabama now. Orange out + the Kemp comments should be all the extra juice they need... On top of the 2013 Chip still on those shoulders. No reason they should be looking ahead. Hopefully another big win for us.

If the Florida Gators are looking past ANYONE they are fools…this team lost to Ga Southern and came in on a 7 game losing streak. You don't get to look past Kentucky no matter how many times in row you've beaten them.

Against a team with a uniform like Tennessee, you gotta wear the traditional uniforms. It's gonna be one of the best looking games of the season uniform-wise.

As for Tennessee, they look to be on their way back. I loved watching Tennessee in the 90's and understand what their tradition is about.

I wish you bad luck this weekend but will be rooting for Tennessee every other game they play this year.

Oh, well. I have to work Saturday morning/afternoon, anyways, but it sucks. I think WVU has a good shot at beating Maryland.

Looks like OU @ WVU has been picked up by FOX for Saturday night in two weeks. It will be the Big 12 (10) opener for both teams.
I'm really worried about that game and the TCU game. They're both on the road and in tough spots for OU.

OU should be jacked up to play against Tennessee but then they have to turn around and play road games at WVU and TCU before the Texas game.

Those will be difficult. I'm more worried about those game than Tennessee, Texas, and Baylor.

I've always liked Oklahoma and very much respect their traditional and history. Hopefully it's at least a competitive game, but I really don't see us in it when it gets to the 3rd quarter. We just don't have the depth

Tennessee will have a great chance of revenge when OU visits Knoxville. I think the Vols are headed in the right direction. Likewise, I've always thought the scene at Vols games in Knoxville looked amazing. I would love to see a game there.

As for this game, Tennessee will be a lot stiffer competition than the teams OU has played so far but Stoops has only lost 5 home games in 15 years and only two of those were OOC.

Teams like Florida State, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, UCLA, Cincy (year they won the Big East), etc. have all come to Norman in the past 10-12 years and lost by more than four touchdowns.

I'm not saying that's what will happen this weekend but OU really gets up for these marquee OOC games.

It should be interesting. Typically the first quarter is telling. If OU gets up early they usually roll but if the other team hangs in there and punches back early it's usually a ball game.

We'll see. The spread on this game was 21 points. I'm thinking maybe something like 34-17?

With that said, I'm sure Tennessee has athletes so OU will need to play well or they might find themselves in a dog fight.

I forget which player it was, but this is pretty much what he said. Said all the motivation they need came from last year. Don't think the Gators will be looking ahead to anyone this season. They want to make a statement every game.

                        Re: Week 3 Discussion

It's not an incredible week of games, but there are definitely some interesting ones for me.

Arkansas vs Texas Tech pits teams that, in my view, are roughly in the same "pecking order" in their respective conference. It's a nice Big 12 vs SEC game.

UCLA vs Texas has lost some luster since the Horns took another Mormon beatdown last week and UCLA has looked very average early on. Still a decent matchup though.

I'm probably most interested in Georgia South Carolina and Oklahoma Tennessee.

In regards to the OU UT game, I think the Bob Stoops vs SEC stuff is a bit overdone.

If OU clobbers Tennessee, it won't say anything more than a top tier Big 12 team mauling a team that, most likely, won't finish higher than 4th in the SEC East. If Butch and Co. can pull off the upset, it will definitely be a marquee moment for a former powerhouse who hasn't been nationally relevant for far too long.

I'm hoping the Vols can pull it off.

Honest question...why can't Virginia field a consistent top 25 program like they did under Welsh?

Plenty of talent in the area, beautiful campus, etc. Other than FSU, I wouldn't consider any other ACC member to be head and shoulders above UVA as far as ability to be in rise into that "upper tier" conference wise.

What do you think is the major obstacle?

It'd be too easy to say "academics", we have tougher academic standards than both NCAA and ACC requirements. However, Duke won ten games last year if I'm not mistaken. UVA has never had a ten-win season, ever. So academics can't be the sole reason. It has nothing to do with Virginia Tech and their decade-long win streak against us either; despite this, we are actively beating them out for many recruits within our own state borders, most recently Quin Blanding (#1 safety in the state) and Andrew Brown (#1 DL in the state), both five-star prospects by major recruiting services. Scott Stadium is as nice as any in the ACC, and we just built a sparkly new indoor football practice facility so there's clearly a willingness to invest in the program to see it reach a new level. My general answer in short is "I don't know".

Speaking to contemporary times and things specific to the Mike London era - since our 2011 Chik-Fil-A Bowl appearance against your Auburn Tigers, we've been unable to recruit the offensive line well, and the guys we do get in can't stay in school, either for academic or legal reasons. There's plenty enough talent on the perimeter and the defense to compete - our starting defensive end tandem of Eli Harold and Max Valles could be really good this year, and we return safety Anthony Harris who was named an All-American by Sports Illustrated last season - but none of that matters of the offensive line can't protect the quarterback or create running lane. We've also been unsettled and plain bad at the quarterback position.

Quarterback has also been a problem area. Head coach Mike London has run off several quarterbacks from the program, including Michael Rocco who started for us in the 2011 Chik-Fil-A Bowl. Alabama transfer Phillip Sims was a complete bust under center with apparently no work ethic, and while junior David Watford conversely is a great kid and does all the right things, he led us to statistically the worst passing offense in NCAA FBS last season; he simply wasn't very good. This year we're unsettled at quarterback again with hand-picked starter Greyson Lambert throwing two pick-sixes against UCLA in the first half. This got him benched for scout team quarterback Matt Johns, who threw two touchdown passes and rallied us back into the game. Both played and played well against Richmond, but I still don't have much idea who is going to be The Guy for us going forward.

Finally, Mike London's game day coaching decisions also draw questions at times. He can be very aggressive as to his situational play calling to the point of downright ignorance. He has been known to completely mismanage the clock and timeouts. He routinely gives true freshmen significant roles on the team - likely because he's promising recruits that they will not redshirt their first year and will play - sometimes with catastrophic results. He has proven ability on the recruiting trail and he's a great motivator of men as the team will run through a wall for him, but the situational football intelligence is still fair to question.
