    Re: Week 13 Discussion

You know a couple years ago I said no one was going to beat Alabama......then the miracle kids came through and beat them with a 100 yd missed FG return for a TD......honestly if there was a team to beat Alabama, I'd lean towards Ohio State.

That is the beauty of the CFP, we'll get good games hopefully.

I know it's not perfect but the targeting calls where the player is ejected is a good rule that should've been instituted years ago.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

If I was a buckeye fan I'd be giddy too. They know they got outplayed and got the majority of favorable calls and non calls and escaped with a win.

Get all the butthurt out of your system now. It's unhealthy to bottle it up. Look at Harbaugh. His inability to control himself cost his team today.
Nah. I think it's pretty clear that Michigan's TO's kept OSU in the game and is part of the story also part is horrible officiating but they aren't the single reason Michigan Lost they never are but they were bad.

            Re: Week 13 Discussion

All things considered, here were the players that stood out to me:

Taco Charlton: Arguably the MOP of this game. He dominated from start to finish, and when he was out it was noticeable as Isiah Prince played much better. He had what, 3 sacks, 4-5 TFL overall, and disrupted a ton of other plays? Completely and utterly dominant.

Wilton Speight: Made 2 key mistakes that changed this game. But I was incredibly impressed with his passing ability. He did a great job getting the ball out right before pressure came, and was incredibly accurate with his throws. Gutted through a tough injury to play a good game.

Raekwon McMillan: A guy that has struggled a lot this year and has gotten a lot of flack for it, but he stepped up big time in this one. He was in on what felt like every play and his pressure of Speight resulted in Hooker's pick-6.

JT Barrett: It's a familiar story with this guy. He's not Peyton Manning. He's not Baker Mayfield. ****, he's probably not even Jeremiah Masoli threw the air. But he just keeps gutting it out. His running ability kept us in this game and is probably the reason that we won. He fought for everything and earned every yard he got. He played like hot garbage for a lot of this game but when we needed him to come through, boy did he. Amazing game from #16. He's taken Braxton Miller's spot as the most frustrating player on the roster (and the easiest target for criticism), but we wouldn't have won this one without him.

I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones that stood out to me.

Pitt should fire Conklin after the game. You don't give up that much to Syracuse and need your offense to put up 76 points. Defense went to sleep, almost gave up the game. Pitt would be in the top 10 with a serviceable D.

I don't think anyone is against the idea behind targeting. It's how it is actually officiated that is the issue.

Shields them from a potential loss in the championship game. 11-1 even without a division title, with their quality wins, is going to qualify them.

And if a team gets in when they don't win their division, I'd like us to either go to 8 (I think this regardelss) or just scrap conferences and play sweet non-conference games every week and only play rivals within conference.

I think we can both agree that each team "played like crap" though. Maybe not the defenses, but...I get that people will say this was a great game due to how close it was and The Game never before going to OT, but both teams really shot themselves in the foot over and over.

OSU with a head scratching fake punt, some bad play calling in the 1st half, Barrett was abysmal as a passer the entire time, and Derbin missed 2 chippies. Their OL play was as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe worse.

Michigan literally gave OSU 14 points with dropping a room service fumble inside the 5 and Speight throwing up for grabs from near his own end zone. The jet action handoff that Wisconsin skewered OSU with repeatedly was used exactly once for about 5 yards (and probably would've been a TD in 2OT were it not for a great emergency tackle). Harbaugh decided NOT to ice a kicker, on the FG forcing OT, who had missed his first 2 tries. 43 carries for 91 yards.

Nowhere near 2006 in terms of execution. This was a bizarro 2006.

Objectively, I thought it was short. Am I 100% certain? No because of the camera angle. More like 90% certain. Even with as much forward progress as you can possibly give Barrett, he got hit low, spun to the side and seemed to fall a good foot-and-a-half short of the line to gain. Once the refs (again with my officiating rant...) spotted it where they did, that was doomed. I get that it was too close to overturn. But if they had spotted it right, it would've been ball game the other way.

When he got hit by Hill, it looked to me like the ball in his right hand (over top of his body) broke the line to play up by his blocker's back. He hit the ground short of the line to gain, but his forward progress looked like it broke it. I thought he got it in real time from the forward progress.

I do think it's a tad ridiculous that in 2016 we don't have adequate camera angles to determine exactly where the spot was on that play (given that it wasn't into a pile and the ball wasn't covered up by body parts). But it is what it is.
