Butch Jones is as close to Al Golden 2.0 as you can get. It's weird how similar they are from the dumb catch phrases to the way they handle themselves when talking to the media. Throw in the awful game day coaching and they're clones just about.

Congrats to Vandy, the new reigning Champions of Life.

Kobalt, I wish nothing but ill fortune for your team next Friday. May all the positivity I sent your way this season become the inverse.

        Re: Week 13 Discussion

I knew Vandy would probably beat Tennessee they are actually a pretty good team..... SEC is full of a bunch of average teams minus Bama

There is no one in the West or the East that is anything close to a elite team. Anyone one of them could beat one another any given week. Missouri the worst team beat Arkansas

I'll repeat it again but I still think Bama has helped kill this conference as a whole. They get the best players hands down. Even the backs up would beat most of the SEC teams. No one stands any chance of winning anything with them around ...... Its great for Bama fans but at one point this conference had 4 teams at least fighting for national titles and now it's down to one and only one

It's clearly not only Bama's fault(maybe very little is) but I feel they have killed the will of the conference if that makes sense. Even if someone in the conference beats them it's because Bama played a bad game and not because they were better

I don't know, I just felt like rambling. Probably makes no sense lol

I certainly disagree with this. While Alabama has done very well recruiting, its not like the other SEC schools are picking up scrubs as left overs. For example, just starting at 2013 from Scout.com for the sake of brevity...

            2013 Recruiting Class

            4. Alabama
            6. Texas A&M
            7. Florida
            8. Georgia
            9. LSU
            10. Ole Miss
            13. Auburn
            19. Vandy
            20. Miss State

            2014

            1. Alabama
            2. LSU
            4. Tenn
            7. Texas A&M
            8. Auburn
            9. Florida
            12. Georgia
            18. Ole Miss

            2015

            2. Alabama
            3. Auburn
            4. Georgia
            5. Tenn
            10. Texas A&M
            12. LSU
            16. Ole Miss
            19. Miss State
            20. South Carolina

            2016

            1. Alabama
            5. Ole Miss
            6. LSU
            9. Auburn
            10. Georgia
            11. Florida
            18. Tenn
            20. Texas A&M

            2017

            1. Alabama
            4. Georgia
            5. Texas A&M
            7. Tenn
            9. LSU
            12. Auburn

There are plenty of other SEC schools pulling in amazing talent as well. If you look at it on per conference rating as well, the SEC as a whole is bringing in the most talent overall as well.

2013 - SEC brought in 37 of the top 100 players
2014 - SEC brought in 37 of the top 100 players
2015 - SEC brought in 70 of the top 100 players
2016 - SEC brought in 60 of the top 100 players
2017 - SEC brought in 24 of the top 100 players as of now.

All these players are not going to Bama, plenty of talent being spread across the entire conference in my opinion.

Lets wait until after bowl season is over o see if "The NFL of College" is dead.
The Big 10 was clearly the best conference in the regular season but these things run in cycles anyways. The only difference about the SEC being the best was their cycle lasted a lot longer than most. 11 teams bowl eligible and I wont be surprised if 9 win and one of the losses is Bama at the hands of Urban Meyer and tOSU. Of the 3 teams that missed bowls, 2 were 1 win away and the other was 2 wins away. If the SEC has the same kind of success in bowls as they did last year, The SEC was 9-2 including the NC game and the Big10 was 5-5 last year. i have tried finding what each conferences out of schedule record looked like for 2016 but so far I havent found it. FWIW the Big10 has 10 teams bowl eligible.

Also I assume the Big10 is sending 2 teams to the CFP (Wisconsin/PSU winner and tOSU)
As for my own personal rant I want to see the CFP expand to 6 teams. The Top 2 get a bye and all 5 Power5 confernce champions go. The 6rh team will be a wild card. This years wild card would be Western Michigan. Until the non-Power5 teams are represented then the CFP is a sham and still produces a mythical national champion. But the non-Power5 doesnt have to have a representive each year. The only way they should receive one is if there is an undefeated team in their midst. Otherwise the wild card goes to the best nonconference winner. I realise that would mean Oklahoma and W.Michigan would get in over tOSU and that might seem unfair but if the Buckeyes wanted in they should have won their conference. And W.Michigan might still lose their confernce championship game, putting tOSU in their stead.

Divide the NCAA into 8 conferences. Every conference champion goes to the playoff.

Fixed. Don't win your conference. Don't go. Don't join a conference. Don't go. Easy as that.

The SEC and ACC need to start playing nine conference games. It is unfair they get to play another non conference patsy compared to the other P5 conferences. It's ridiculous to have a 14-team conference and only play eight conference games. It also allows for records inflation across the conference and more teams making bowl games than they should.

Why is it unfair? Does the SEC or ACC make the other conferences play 9 conference games?
No, thats their choice. What I would rather see is go back to an 11 game regular season and drop the 4th non-conference game. Give the players and coaches a week off from the grind or use that week to add in another round of playoff games.

Well, the Big 12 gets knocked for not playing a needless CCG (given the round robin format), so why shouldn't the ACC and SEC get knocked for playing one less conference game against a P5 opponent?

I totally get why they don't change. It benefits them. It allows more teams to rack up easy wins against pasties, which allows more teams to make bowl games (given that in-conference games are necessarily a zero sum game with one win and one loss being assigned).

It's just something people should consider before spouting off about how xx teams from such and such conference made a bowl game, etc. It's not a level playing field insofar as conference games are concerned. All else being equal, you'd expect the SEC and ACC to send a greater proportion of their teams to bowl games than the other P5 conferences.

I agree the Big12 got a bad rap for not playing a conference championship the last few years so I'm glad to see they are going to resume playing it, if only to hush their detractors. But 2 wrongs stil dont make a right.

I found it fitting yesterday that Kaaya became Miami's all time leading passing on a 3rd and 15 throw that went for 6 yards. Sums up his career perfectly.

So in the last two weeks, Louisville has played their way out of the slim chance they had at making the playoffs and out of a chance to play in the Orange Bowl. And to top it off, Lamar Jackson has lost his firm grasp on the Heisman Trophy and after yesterday, may have lost it all together.

Very disappointing two weeks to say the least.

The SEC practice of playing an FCS school in week 11 is ridiculous. P5 teams playing FCS schools is ridiculous anyway.

I'd like to see SEC teams travel Out of Conference everyonce in a while as well. Alabama does it. When was the last time Florida left the state to play an OOC game?

How many SEC teams play 8 home games? It used to be common. Their scheduling is a joke.
