Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch #1 Available
No it isn't. We take the complaints seriously. That's how we learn and grow as a development team. Every year we criticize ourselves and take steps to improve that, but it isn't nearly as objective as customer feedback.
The only pointless stuff is the complaints that aren't posted.. ummm.. gracefully. At some point you just stop reading them. I've gotten good at checking the name on the post before reading it.
How do you guys put this game out? I've been playing NCAA since 2003. I took a one year break because I didn't have a next gen system and I figured it'd be a couple years before the game would be back to it's old form. But, I get the game this year...and for the first time I actually CANNOT play it. From the days of the ps2, I've NEVER had to put the game down and just not play it because I'm waiting for patches to fix the game.
Not to sound like your typical angry fan, but I didn't complain, I just waited, and then you give the fans a truly broken game. How is it that you guys over there didn't notice the simple things that make football, football, and not fix them? No pass rush. QBs completing everything. Speed system VERY flawed. A TD on about every 5 returns. People on defense not playing their zones, not sticking with their men at all. And of course, there's more - but those are the absolute gamekillers.
Honestly, can you just answer the question? Not trying to complain and complain, I just really want the answer to how you guys put this game out without catching all of this which would have taken literally 3 days to find - if that. OMT, please, why do you guys do that?Comment

Well I'm new here, so you can't skip over this name, right? So, can you answer me a SIMPLE question?

I'm sorry you can't play the game. Very few people just can't play it, some people aren't happy with it, but most people like it. We get more feedback saying it is the best version of NCAA they have every played than we do about about people not liking it or worse.
Of course, as someone who doesn't like it, I'm sure that is hard for you to believe. But it is the truth. We have a wide audience of people to cater to, not just hardcore sports gamers.Comment

My biggest frustration with the game is little attention is given to none BSC schools. I'm not a expert but I would think it would be easy to assign a few guys a conference have them mull over pictures of the stadium(where opponents sit, what are the dominate colors, entrances ETC.), review team rosters(RACE OF PLAYER, skills of players), incoming freshmen(Do you have a code where you could say 4.36=91speed and 93 Acc bench of 345=89str ETC).
I'm and ECU alum so I follow them but it looks like no time is spent on the non BCS schools. ECU held VT to 33yds rushing and 278 total lost 17-7 last year yet only have a Def rating of 76 yet return 9 starters overall rating 72. Also beat Boise State 77 overall and UCF 77. ECU returning more starters than both and still significantly lower.Comment

But, like just about everyone, you can't take a little correction and information but have to take offense at it.Comment

Thanks, OMT. I am officially done with NCAA forever. Time to move on to Madden and hope Ian and company get it right in 2010.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch #1 Available
This is the fundamental reason why we are all doomed as sim sports gamers. We will never be happy with the game because developers will INTENTIONALLY put fake things in their game to please people who want to throw 20 TDs a game.

I've gotten good at checking the name on the post before reading it.The stuff you point out aren't on or off things. They aren't oversights but a subjective judgement. They are things that were being tuned throughout the cycle. It had nothing to do with us not noticing. It is out of my area of design so I can't justify as I don't know how close or far off of what they were trying to deliver it is. I really don't. I'm not totally happy with the gameplay, but I enjoy this game more than the previous two on this console generation by leaps and bounds.

Anyway, I mean I know it is judgment and the guys that are making the game set out for it to be wide open and all this, but even you can't deny the fact that it isn't true to NCAA football, or any football for that matter.
Like Benicio pointed out, and this is the EXACT same for Madden (even worse there), why try to cater to 6 year old kids who probably don't know the difference between FCS and BCS? Why not cater solely on the hardcore NCAA, Madden fans that will continue to buy your product year in and year out? It's what most companies try to do, save for the elite ones, gaining more customers rather than keeping the loyal ones happy. I'm sure you can make it true to life, sim football while still making it open to newcomers and such.
Don't you think that after years and years of buying the game, that the hardcore fans are the ones who should get something in return by making the gameplay realistic, adding more customization, more depth, more realism to everything rather than some gimmicks to attract 5th graders?Comment

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If EA wants to cater to the casual gamer, thats fine, but give us hardcore guys the options too. I think it can be achieved, but with an ear to the streets (as EA has been doing this year).
No disrespect meant here, just looking to have both sides win. I want my great offenses to play great, and my awesome D to play like they should too.......not that im a guru by any means, but I (as many others) would be happy to provide any insight, feedback or advice, via PM, community days, or what have youCheck out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.
You too can be a 5* recruit at FSU.......

Re: NCAA Football 09 Patch #1 Available
Anyone, any thoughts?
The create a playbook was cool, and I miss the create a school. I was wondering about some of the things I was able to do on 08 (ps2) version, verses this years 09 on PS3.
1. QB avoidance
2. Direct a receiver, when the QB is scrambling
3. D-Line moves, like a power rush or swim move while jumping the snap to get around OL. (maybe this is something that will be fixed with Patch #2)???
4. Celebrations, while running into the endzone, I push O and do the same move every time, is that the way its supposed to be. Also the celebrations, the light ones or heavy ones you could do after a big play and/or touchdown. I remember you would push says R2 for square to perform a celebration. And you had different ones for the cheerleaders, players, mascot, fans.
5. Also with the fans, why no more close up of the fans, dancing, leaving the game during a blowout, throwing up signs.....Comment

I just wanted to say that I have played NCAA Football since 1999, and this is by far the best. Although, I would rather have to wait an extra 2 weeks or so for them to release the game, if that means that the patches to fix general gameplay were already included. It does not effect me, but not everyone has internet to this point, and it is not easy for them to access the patches. I agree with a lot of people on points they have already made including kick returns being too long too often. One of the only things I have always hoped for, and doubt I will ever get a chance to see, would be some Division II teams in the game, or in a second game. I would even be willing to pay extra money if it was just an add on, or something to that extent. I come from a DII conference that is one of the top in DII each year, and has had several draft picks/pro signees the past several years. I know a former Denver Bronco, Rod Smith, came from this conference many years ago! Enough of that, I suppose I will continue waiting to play this game until the first patch comes out at least as I do want to play with the rosters!Comment
